  • listen to this all the time in GTA 4. Its good music to drive around at night and see the amazing marvel of a man made virtual world. Really spacey stuff to make you think about spacey ideas

  • @indicaintellectual Agree wholeheartedly. "This is...The Journey."

  • WOW!!! Look at the size of the Arp! I gotta get me one of those things!

  • Only a word can describe this jewel....EPIC!, sincerely master of masters, hi from Mexico ^_^

  • ..... d^_^b

  • Jean Michelle - nothing in music

  • qu'est-ce que c'est shinshijaijeur? il veut dire synthetiseur? Lol

  • je suis toujours mort de rire avec ce playback !!! mais il m'a toujours fait réver petit !!

  • this is an amazing music !!!!!! It make me walk in the space in my mind!!

  • this is a amazing music !!!!!! It make me walk in the space in my mind!!

  • Plus, back in those days people in general did not have a clue about how synthesizers worked, or even most electronic technology. Home tech stuff wasnt around like it is today, so all these synths were magic to most people.

  • Late 70s TV studio promo performance.... one man alone on stage.... old cranky 70s synths that cannot be programmed, tuned or relied upon like today's stuff.... quick job without any rehearsal time.... of course it's going to be playback, as most TV performances are! Back in those days they couldnt do it otherwise with this kind of set-up.

  • Lighten up people, of course it's not entirely "live", and maybe it's not live at all, think of it as a music video! The fact that he made this kind of music in the 70's is, as the almighty Sheen would say, winning!

  • grandioso!

  • that is the biggest synth i've ever seeen!!!!!!!

  • Vangelis plays. Jarre shows off. He does like the big ticket boards though.

  • do u think, anyone in our current charts today, could pull something out the bag like this? if u want to say this is a fake play back, have a guess how long this takes to set up, sound check, quantize, without a PC or microchip, what you can hear is the temperature effecting valves, so what if he mimed, it probably went through 23 compressors, if u know what I mean. .

  • @DoyleProperties Of course it's fake. The big Arp Synth for instance isn't powered on. (No Lights, Sequencer isn't running). Well of course he could play this but it's in a TV-Studio! This Synths needed too long for heating up and being in tune. (At least half an hour or more) So there was only time to bring the stuff on stage and "perform". FYI: No Valve based Synthesizer / Organs where used here.

  • he is a genius!He play with analog synths.GREAT!

  • Is a fake. It's playback, like he used to do most of the time. He only plays live when he is with two other keyboardist in stage. But he makes very strange faces when he pretends to be playing :)

  • @angelus000000 He's probably feels silly when pretending.

  • Correct me if im wrong, but as far as I know, it took 4 people to create this song (8 tracks). JMJ said this himself and good example is his Oxygene Live in your living room DVD... Anything on TV will be playback as he cant do everything alone without sequencing. Im a very big fan of his work.

  • @ZS5DMX Yes, you are right, to play this track live he would need three others guys with him, just like the three guys he takes on tour. However he may still have been playing parts of this track live in this video and playing the rest from memory banks, either way it doesn't really matter, he's a proven talent.

  • He's playing an ARP 2500... not a 2600..the ARP 2600 was manufactured later

  • usa l'arp 2600 NOOOOO!!!!!! troppo bello!

  • wOrdless 0.0

  • This is a live as an ELO concert! If just bad sync I apologize but everytime I think I know what he is playing he moves over and changes synth while the part keeps playing.

  • To me the song is in playback, you can notice it when JMJ changes synth and melodies continue to play, even with the same timbre (why changing synth to play another one with the same sound?). Don't take me wrong, JMJ is a great musician, I think the TV wanted a show which sounded perfect and to prevent playing flaws they put the original recording over the filmed part. This happened for a lot of other bands, for example the great Depeche Mode (on some of their videos the same thing happens)

  • Orginal is only one. Only 1976.

  • thank you very much for sharing with us!!!

  • me thinks the vid isnt the origional to the recording look at 1:54 for a prime example.

  • great. but pretending to play again! but lovely to see him at the beginning of the good years

  • he look so young and handsome...

  • MON DIEU QUEL VIEUX PLAYBACK POURRI,,,

    lol

fait au moins un semblant de vraie note!!!

surtout avec un arp 2500 au bout des doigts...
