  • Maybe it's just an indication of his style, or maybe it was a very clever tie-in later on in the show... but there are some very familiar melodies and phrasing, like the main riff from his re-imagined "All Along The Watchtower." Bear, if you read this comments... was it your idea to feature the song "All Along the Watchtower," or was it someone like Ron D. Moore?

  • Dear Mr McCreary

After leaving my cello in it's case for nearly 4 years (I played for 14 years), your music got me to start over again. And I'm thinking of renting a violin, just out of curiosity. You're a wonderful musician, and I wish you the very best for your future!

    Greetings from Switzerland

  • Interesting pedal

  • I was comparing the re-imagined BSG to the 1978 version and.. the music. All the music just adds a whole new dimension to the whole experience of the show. Thank you Mr. McCreary.

  • Battlestar Galactica was %50 acting and VFX, and %50 Bear McCreary's awesome scores. Without him, it was considered just a show.

But now, it is a legend.

  • Does anyone know where I can get the sheet music for this .. I am not kidding I literally bought a violin to learn this but would love to play it on the piano :)

  • .....to be dancing in the streets, as this plays, would be a fantasy come true. Thank you for posting. :)

  • It's hard to explain to my friends that my favorite contemporary composer is the one who wrote the soundtrack to a show about spaceships, and that said show is actually really good also..."Battlestar Galactica" carries such a nerd stigma for something that is so well written and acted...and scored.

  • @Hodge329

Well, it can't be helped. Nerds have good taste in television shows ;)

  • I love how the top two comments are the EXACT same, by the same person

  • gorgeous piano more than anything! ;)

  • A seemingly simple composition, like Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, but with an underlying depth and life of something by Bach. I was surprised to see how young Bear was when he did the BSG scores! That's a lot of imagination and talent you usually expect to see in more seasoned composers. There were things about the new BSG I didn't like and did, but the music score definitely took the show to another level. Imagine Star Wars if it didn't have John Williams giving the story that epic quality...

  • @TheBashar327 ... to help smooth over the more cheesy parts.

This is definitely a masterpiece. Congratulations, Bear!

  • You know, I don't know why they didn't end the series with this song or with "The Shape of Things to Come." It was a complete joke that they ended the series with jimi's all along the watch tower.... What a shame.

  • Oh my god there is a solo piano song book of this stuff?! Instant purchase.

  • Purely the greatest song I have ever heard.

  • I want to learn this song.....so that I can play it at my father's funeral, when the time come. Call that morbid, but this song is so unfathomably touching, it can not be put into words.

  • How can someone dislike this? are you mad?...probably wish you could play like this - no need to be jealous.

    beautiful.

  • Thank god for a: Writing this beautiful music b: For utilizing Youtube and sharing your amazing talent. Like ComicCon3d said...

  • @bigasstony Don't thank god. Thank Bear McCreary.

  • Thanks Mr. McCreary. I've been trying to play this on my piano and it really helps to see how you do it!

  • This is my favourite song hes made. I nearly cried the first time I heard this though Ive no idea why. Its Epic, gentle and etheral all at the same time.

Its nice to know theres someone out there who can still make music so moving.

  • It would be great if his sheet music book had the corners cut :D

  • I'm so excited to see a channel for you on YouTube! BSG on its own was an amazing series; your music multiplied that tenfold. I'll be crossing my fingers to see The Shape of Things To Come soon and/or a live version of Capricoperatica.

  • Endless likes. Just that. Hope to see "shape of things to come" :D

  • Love it! I was waiting for Bear to upload this one. I re-transcribed this song back to a quartet and it'll be played at my upcoming wedding by a quartet. Can't wait to hear it in person!

Please play The Shape of Things to Come next!

  • Yet another wonderful piece to listen to. Many thanks.

  • No dislikes? This is a kind of masterwork that even trolls can't dislike.

  • Yes finally! I love Passacaglia! One of my favourite music piece of all time (No kidding). It has sentimental value to me :-)

  • <3

  • there's a toaster behind you just thought you should know. lol

  • @sniper11789 I don't like it when you use that word. It's racist.

  • YEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    *Nerdgasm!*

  • This brings back so many memories of the show, it's as if they were real..

  • I wonder why Gaeta's Lament wasn't included in the songbook.

  • @Frogandkitty Yeah, they could've easily added some chords for a baseline and there you go.

  • Wonderful score. The orchestral original is one of my favourite pieces of music of all time. I think when I play this I will use the sustain pedal a bit more though.

  • Thank you for this wonderful arrangement!

  • I was waiting for this one!

  • wait WAIT a minute....

    What's that at 2:19?...

Is that the OLD BSG box set on the shelf?....

    EEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWW

  • /highfive

another song uploaded, another masterwork, nothing short of spectacular....

now do Black Market :P pplleeaaassseeeeeeeeeee :D

  • When I first heard the orchestral version of this, tears spilled down my face. So moving, so beautiful, and yet so interesting musically. With "The Shape of Things to Come," and other master works, you have created for BSG music that soars into the galaxy.

Now, when will we get to hear a symphony here in this country?

  • Why does that plushie on the shelf look like it has six legs?

  • @unpossibly Cuz it does.

  • Oh its so lovely. *-*

  • Chills down my spine every time! Works like a charm.

  • Epic win.

  • Your entire BSG score is timeless. In 100 years, people will be playing Mozart, John Williams, and Bear McCreary. A Masterwork!

  • @ComicCon3D So say we all :D

  • @ComicCon3D And returning battlestars will be punching the code of Kara Remembers as the home coordinates :)

  • @ComicCon3D #100 thumbs up! It's an honor, sir.

    So say we all.

  • Your entire BSG score is timeless. In 100 years, people will be playing Mozart, John Williams, and Bear McCreary. A Masterwork!

  • Eres un grande! Me alegro mucho que hayas visitado mi país, España. Siempre serás bienvenido! Tu música es increíble para mí. Gracias. ;)

  • Another one of my faves :)

  • As always, your music is beautiful. Cant wait for your next project.

  • Awesome as always! <3

  • Beautiful, amazing, wonderful.

    Thank you, Bear.

    Love your work.

  • Bloody ace...Time to turn the lights off, shut my eyes and listen again.

  • Beautiful!

  • Wonderful!

  • Love this one, Bear. One of my favorites. Thanks for posting-I've been having trouble with the arrangement, and it really helps to see hands on keys doing it right! Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.

  • I've always thought that this song defines the whole season 1, the best season of the series. When I was watching the part 12, I thought "wow, this is so amazing and innovative, I've never seen anything like it"

It was incredibly emotional, especially when Boomer was shot.

  • Love it, this version remind me of Phillip Glass, but Bear knows how to do phillip glass and take him to overdrive n' makes it his own

  • Do you own just two shirts - this one and the maroon one? :)

    Sounds great.
