why do people always compare cheerleading to football? its not even close to being the same. cheerleadings can do a routine and rest for like 5 mins. but football players can't rest as long and theyre continually running (before the guy gets tackled). i've never seen a cheerleader do that.

It's ironic because our cheer teams did camp with the football players and the guys learned how to lift the girls and do dances and routines. Many of them said it was much harder.
And I just asked a football player tonight who was in my dance class, "what is harder, football or dancing?" I defend dance and cheer with all my heart because they are hard sports and utilize the whole body.

I don't see any cheerleaders resting, when do we sit down during a game? Never. Regardless of how long a cheer goes on, your either standing up on the sidelines in between cheers, or stunting, tumbling, doing jumps, etc. I happen to be an all-star and a high school varsity cheerleader, so I know what each entails. Every cheerleader (competitive or sideline) shows great displays of athleticism. Stunting or not.

I made this video years ago. I was working on a local show in Sacramento. The camera man said that one of the girls got hurt but he didn't think he got a shot of it. I don't see any cheerleaders resting, when do we sit down during a game? Never. Regardless of how long a cheer goes on, your either standing up on the sidelines in between cheers, or stunting, tumbling, doing jumps, etc. I happen to be an all-star and a high school varsity cheerleader, so I know what each entails. Every cheerleader (competitive or sideline) shows great displays of athleticism. Stunting or not.

cheerleading is a sport and anyone who thinks otherwise, is just uneducated when it comes to sport. Its not their fault they lack knowledge on it, cheerleading is a demanding sport that requires skill, talent and ambition, it can take months even years to perfect a stunt or routine.
For those who dont think its a sport, just look at vids from national and world competitions, theres tonnes of vids on youtube.
Its HARD and we train just as well as any other sport.

Pop every motion just for that tenth of a point, keep your cool, tumble until you drop, occasionally spraining or breaking something. give your absolute all, all at the same time and then when you do that.

I made this video years ago. I was working on a local show in Sacramento. The camera man said that one of the girls got hurt but he didn't think he got a shot of it. In the edit bay I noticed that he did get the fall. I made it into a clip to show him and I mailed it to about five friends. Nice to see the view count is so high.

I lived in a third world country 4 three years when I was 9-12 and it really made me realize I am not better than anyone even if I would have consider them poor or ugly.
