@aegean1able dude in 1951 they play money which doesn't come out till 1959 some of the songs that they play don't come out till the 1960s not everything can be accurate and most people don't care so deal with it
I was lucky enough to see him live when he was in his seventies, still had that great voice and could belt them out. It was an honour to see the legend.
Great song, VinylToVideo, in fact this is the only record version of the song on youtube - if you exclude the scratchy 78RPM version someone's uploaded.
The trouble with this version is, there's hardly any volume.
WOW, Go back to 1949 for "The Lucky Ole Sun" by Frankie Laine and the in the very early 50s for the wonderful "Jezebel", "Rose, Rose, I Love You" and his other great hits of that era, Singers of Today, whether you are an "American Idol" or whatever, listen to and learn from Frankie, this is how a song is supposed to be delivered. And above all, this great singer was a real gentleman.
This song was written by Wayne Shankman, who helped create 'The Big Hurt' for his wife at the time, Miss Toni Fisher..anyone notice the similarities between the two to their music? Almost similar..
I remember this from my early childhood when first it was a hit. I liked it then and I still like it now. Reminds me of another great song from the 50s - "Temptation" by the Everly Bros. Same key perhaps? Both favorites!
Great song..I have to admit, the french version of this song by Charles Asznavour is very good too..Take a listen..but nothing like Frankies version-especially when he sings it live!!
Thanks for posting this video. I agree with this0033 - they don't make music like this any more.
I also can't imagine another Frankie Laine coming along any time soon, with his booming voice and ability to give a song like this one, "Rawhide," etc., such power.
.....My name is Jezebel :0

If Leonard Cohen hadn't mentioned the title of this song and its author in his song Memories, I would have never got interested in Frankie Laine!

:) He's really a great singer.
Has anyone found Desi Arnaz's version of this?
101speedsketch 7 months ago
Mr. Laine and his wife were two of the kindest people I can remember from my childhood. My mom worked for him from 1962-1967.

Deveriam fazer uma regravação dessa música chamada "Geisy é o Créu", em homenagem àquela gordinha unibanida do vestidinho rosa.
