  • he's not even a philosopher but the drums bass guitar and vocal make us think about truth in a deep way ha

  • Whoaooo!

  • Two people were hit by truth.

  • ahahaha...sting looks like billy idol on the cover of this album.

  • One of my favourites when I was 9 in '79! They were already fantastic!

  • This is back before Sting forgot how to write interesting, fun songs.

  • Just think, Margaret Thatcher became the PM of Britain right when these guys hit there peak, sic.

  • @camlpg Thats right, maybe the present government will bring out some new raw rocking sounds, come on you yung'ns, lets hear it! enough of the soppy ballads already.

  • I love this AND Motion City Soundtrack's cover. It's really friggin awesome :)

  • as soon as i heard this song it became my fav song i love it!!! XD

  • motion city soundtrack did a cover of this song. Its pretty good too.

  • they still kick everybody's ass, oldsters that they are even now...god dang

  • u2 ?? me neither

  • una de las mejores canciones de la banda

  • @thenewfella1994 Sting bothers a lot of people. Frank Zappa hadn't been too impressed with him but ran into him in their hotel in NY in '88 & asked him to come on stage & Sting sang Murder By Numbers with Zappa's band. It's a good version, Sting tells the audience that Jimmy Swaggart, a famous TV preacher, called the song Devil's music. Swaggart was in the middle of a sex scandal, cheated on his wife, and went on TV & begged for forgiveness. He was blubbering like a little baby, just ridiculous.

  • Wow was I lucky being a teenager when this album came out.

  • "She Hates Everybody, She Hates Everyone (oh,oh,oh) She Hates Everybody, She Hates Everyone"

  • motion city soundtrack did a amazing cover of this song

  • The studio version is good but the live version is better. IMO

  • esta canción es todo un NEW WAVE!!!!

  • Stu really NAILS this ONE

  • Love The police and their sound

    Great SonG

  • Wow. The 70s had some odd recording equipment.

  • My original pressing of this album says Copyright 1978 on the record label, but says Copyright 1979 on the outer jacket. I always thought that was funny (but I was just a pre-teen back then wanting to go check out the Atari video games at the store and try to kick everyone's azz on the Captain Fantastic Elton John pinball machine at

    Big K Grocery). Yes, I miss 1979.

  • "Take a look at my new toy / It'll blow your head in two oh boy"!!

Doesn't sound like 1978, right? They took just the right amount from punk, the right amount from rock and from reggae, and mixed it all with their own stuff (Sting's stuff mostly).

  • Still love this energy

  • so ahead of its time!

  • This album in particular emphasizes the interesting vocal harmonies that Sting would put into the songs. He seemed to really enjoy building tight clusters of harmonies with odd intervals. Yes, there are your typical 1st, 3rd and 5th harmonies, but he throws in a lot of jazzy oddballs that, in this song, thicken up the bridge as well as guide the listener into different sections of the song.

  • ewan mc gregor looks like sting xd

  • Sounds similar to Fall Out :D

  • A good friend of mine had some beers etc. with Stewart Copeland a few weeks before "Syncronicity" was released and he was afraid it was gonna tank. He thought it wasn't a very good album. I dig all their albums, but nobody has all that confidence, I guess, except, maybe Sting!

  • Underrated Police Song!

  • @MasterchipDatabase.true,i went to see them at Twickemham.this tune was is my head before the concert.my sister who was with me even heard someone raving it in the ladies...weird when you thing of the numbers of hits they produced...

  • u2 music sounds all the same not talented people at all

the police has very varied songs and they're really fucking GREAT!!

nothing you can do against it LOSER

  • @Teddybeer42 You are right The Police have much more variety and talent than U2 and evolved to very unique sounds in the early eighties, 30 year old songs still sound if they were recorded today! One of the best bands of all time, it reminds me of the brilliant Slade who also constantly evolved during their entire careers, had the same great variety, the only difference, though that the Police did it in a very short timespan.

  • @Teddybeer42.U2 are really shit.MTV made up product, like madonna.bono has as much talent as a retarded snail.STING is like MOZART,bono(what a fucking stage name!)is the ancestor of lady gaga.i hate his fake humility and shit music.

  • i was 9 when this came out and i loved it!

  • Colossians 2:15-17 (New King James Version)

15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.

16 So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, 17 which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ.

  • sound like the jam or the clash ..... some punk influences :)

  • @clasherayado89 .. they were punks when the band started.

  • @JVanC4tania haha yes i knew that .. because of my dad :P... but i heard somewhere about sting.. and he says police plays punk (and mix it with jazz reggae etc etc) Saludos desde Monterrey Mexico

  • @clasherayado89 my anciestors or from Monterey Mexico

  • @JVanC4tania PUNK COPS mind you.

  • there is a great version of this song performed by snapcase, a great hardcore band.

  • @JVanC4tania yes they were.

  • @clasherayado89 what an astute observance.

  • @clasherayado89.only ten times better...

  • i love it when the dude says one 4 a long time

  • roll your head into a ball

    should be a christmas carol

  • @ePhilosopher9 hahaha.. it says "blow your head in two, oh boy"

  • @JVanC4tania That could still be a Christmas carol. It should be a christmas carol.

  • @JVanC4tania

I used to sing it as

it will blow your head into a baaaaaaooooohmb

    lol

  • The first part of each chorus is so cool. It's exactly the sound the Foo Fighters were going for on their first album but didn't quite reach. Outstanding.

  • @ePhilosopher9 "blow your head in two, oh boy"....

  • whoo aoo

  • fascists

  • Absent truth , happy for your simplistic sentence, your new boy toy bruised and sullied your delusional ass, Wake UP, bitch

  • yeah!!

  • after year

  • This Sounds so modern

  • @polakandrew holy shit it does, other then the PIMP ASS REGGAE DRUMMING you dont hear that no more :'(

  • @polakandrew

    its just timeless :)

  • @polakandrew No, what's modern sounds like this :)

  • great song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I know 'WHY'...J¡¡¡¡¡¡¡!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • very close to u2 in boy

  • u2? why?

  • @JVanC4tania U2, like the police, also started out as punk then evolved

  • @Kobeownzu81 yeah, except U2 was never the best band in the world, and won't ever be. Though i hate to say it about a fellow irishman

  • @1172404 Um NO.

  • @1172404

the police was earlier so what !! FY

  • @1172404..comparing majestic THE POLICE with talentless shit like U2,sacrilege...might as well compare MOZART with SALIERI...

  • @1172404 better than U2.

  • @1172404 huh?

  • @1172404 Far better than u2. And if this is close to u2, its the other way around. U2 is very close to the police.

  • ¨YES!

  • @JVanC4tania Close enough to U2 that Bono would do collaborations with the police on Invisible Sun.

  • Amazing song~
