does it have an audio input to run audio thru fx and filters? There's one on ebay for $99, but I'm on the fence, especially since I'm more into vintage 70's and 80's gear. How easy is it to program new sounds from scratch? Can the knobs be assigned to all parameters or do they just have that fixed group of settings?

@gothicsakura82 No way. The roland jv 1080 and 2080 have a more up -to-date patch library than the older proteus modules. Especially in the Synth and Keyboards department!!

I slightly disagree with that comment. the jv is from 1994 and the modern proteus 2000 are from 1999 (the 1000 came later), so the proteus has the more modern ROM. Ive heard super jv1080 still very good ,so soundwise it couldbe on a par or better still. I have the pro 2000 fully expanded with Zr76, vintage and x-lead and its a great module wont sell it. Buy em cheap if they just have the composer rom, but some of the other rom's are becoming rare.

do you need a actual keyboard to use this rack because I got a midi controller and I use reason and I will like to use this rack because I like the sounds I just got this?

@dynastyblak Yea you need a midi keyboard that has a midi cable connection. Go midi out from the board to midi in on the proteus.

What´s up,

Thanks for posting this vide. I´ve been looking for clips on E-MU roms. I don´t know if you could help me out:

I have a PROTEUS 2000, it runs the 1.0 OS. Well, the thing is that I installed the XL-7 ROM, but the machine does not ¨see it¨. After googling it, I found that I need to update the OS, butit can´t be made thru newer MAC versions. I also tried PC but it didn´t work.

If you know anything or any web that could help me a lil bit, I´d really appreciate it.
