He's voiced his opinion enough about early Beatles songs, that they weren't real enough(i.e Help!). The "interview" with John took place in 1968, and in 1969 he broke up the Beatles. Near the end of '68 he said he was leaving, but the others convinced him not to. He did not want to be known as just a Beatle and that's it. If you listen to his song "God", he clearly voices how he feels at that time.
