"For those people who think they have the godlike power to take away life". Well said, Morrissey. Eating the flesh of other animals is arrogance of such magnitude, it could be termed hubris. Our species has evolved to split the atom and potentially destroy the planet countless times over. Is this the result of the alleged cerebral development due to meat eating?

We are NOT omnivores. Our dentition and viscera are herbivorous. Eating flesh gives us cancer.

The problem that I have with the consumption of meat is the suffering we inflict to get it. Weeks and weeks even months of torturing animals - cramped cages, painful, horrid conditions. In that respect, we are worse than animals. They don't let their prey suffer for long periods of time before they kill and eat it.

sorry people. in nature, there are herbivores, carnivores, and omnivores. humans are omnivores. so it's not murder, it's food. stop thinking that denying yourself the opportunity to eat what you want is somehow 'evolving morally,' because it's not, it's just self-important, masochistic asceticism. if you don't like factory farms, sure, that's one thing, but what's the problem with raising your own animals and eating them? nothing.

It's murder because it's taking life away, regardless if it's human or not. I agree though, that if you have your own farm, and you love and treat your animals right even though you're gonna eat them, that's fine, or at least better than the farms we have now. If you can kill an animal with your bear hands, which you see as food, then by all means feast.

I'm vegetarian, and I totally agree with you. You can eat meat and still care about animals, they are not mutually exclusive things. Raising your own animals and eating them is probably the most honest genuine and humane way to eat meat. Also however you can argue that human beings aren't meat eaters. We have no instinctive concept of what food is in the same way as other animals. Cats fundamentally and biologically require meat for live, we don't. Choice is choice, but welfare is always key

they murder the calfs to take the milk and the calfs stomache is used alot to make rennet thats used for cheese. It possible to buy unfertilised eggs tho........good old morrisey ..i used to cut his hair in the late 80s ,hairdresser on fire , no lies!

its a fact that vegetarians are generally more intelligent than meat eaters, look it up if you like. so if we tend to be more intelligent we would be doing the right, intelligent thing to do, which is to not eat meat.
