You would have to have the phone unlocked for use in France, since there is obviously no T-Mobile France (yet).

I'm not totally sure if it is quad band, but it is at least tri-band, so the phone would work in France. You would just have to unlock it.

Remember if you don't have much of a social life and you don't get many phone calls/text messages with the phone you have now, a sidekick isn't very useful so don't save up for one jsut because of looks. I got it because of I'm from California but I go to school in Virginia, so I know a lot of people. With the instant messaging and all people will IM you at 3am if you forget to sign off, and I send a lot of texts, it constantly reminds me I have a "NEW MESSAGE" it's crazy! Otherwise, I love it.
