Had a chance, years ago, to pick up this exact car with about 50k miles, maybe even less for 6-7 grand. Been kicking myself for moving too slow on it.
Well, if I wanted to buy the car before watching this video, I sure don't now. Its a horrible idea to start a car cold and start revving the shit out of it, especially when its force-fed. Nice car though. I own a 1990 SC myself.
The Super Coupe could be had with a Mazda-derived, M5R2 5-speed manual transmission or an AOD 4-speed automatic transmission. The Thunderbird Super Coupe was Motor Trend's Car of the Year for 1989, which Ford proudly advertised. When running at a maximum of 5600 rpm, the supercharger provided 12 psi of boost, producing 210 horsepower (160 kW) at 4000 rpm and 315 lb·ft (427 N·m) of torque at 2600 rpm under a 8.2:1 compression ratio.
I had one of these. I hated the black rims. to me, they reminded me of a 70's car with missing hubcaps. I had them painted titanium to match the rocker trim. AWESOME car! light years ahead of the more popular Mustang GT's and Buick Grand Nationals in technology and performance(especially in the handling department). Better looking too!
beautiful!!!!,, was that car modified with a 5 speed?????? for all i know the anniversary versions where automatic only, please correct me if im wrong...
@tazman0009 i had one the same color as the one in this video, i bought it back in 1998, its long gone now, sold it 3 years ago., but as far as i can recall, those 3.8 v 6 supercharged were rated 210 hp.
Best car ever built.

I had a 90 SC, absolutely loved that car. They're not rated that high for horsepower, but still really fun to drive
