But I have a Samsung Delve (US Cellular) and it has their client 'NAVIGATOR' which lets you search for local events such and movies now playing and even concerts in town, live traffic, incident indicator, weather of your current location, and even has accurate voice prompt

Does the PSPs GPS do all of this too? or more?

PS: How's the refresh rate? mine is so slow that if you make a wrong turn, by the time it refreshes youre WAY off track

You download maps by yourself using a tool called GMDL (Global Map Downloader). So yes, you can get maps anywhere on the globe, Google maps, Yahoo maps, Microsoft etc. Check out his website for more info.

if you hack your psp its not hard to put it back to normal and sony cant tell if it had a CFW if you put it back so it wont void the warrenty. psp has released GO EXPLORER but it costs money this is free and the only way to brick a psp is if you mess with the flash memory and screw up.(dont use a 8GB to flash)

MapThis will not brick your psp

however you need custom firmware on it to be able to run this.

The process of applying custom firmware into your psp may or may not brick your psp.

the program is free, but it requires installation of custom firmware, enabling homebrew.. Do some googling for tutorials on how to "upgrade" to custom firmware.

You have a choice of gps accessories (holux236/240/M1000/M1200 or sony psp-290, which can be purchased via ebay and such...)

The maps are generated from google and other sources via a freeware tool (gmdl)

You'll need the GPS attachment for it. The price varies and can only be bought online. That is unless you're from the UK or Japan. Also, you can make your own map (download map of area you wish to travel and load it into the memory stick). The original software contains map of Japan, which is obviously of not use if you're from the UK, USA, or elsewhere.

you can buy the GPS attachment from japan but the official software only works in japan. So you do need homebrew software for it to work outside of japan.
