  • Actor looks very like Isaac Ross in the Haka

  • This movie rocks! i like that americans know the meaning of the haka... its good that the highland rugby team are spreading the culture, ths makes us new zealanders proud, its so awesum!!! i like that nz culture is spread to america! there is definately not nething wrong wth the highland rugby team doin the haka! lol...

  • They use the Haka as a tradition associated with rugby, and as part of their team spirit. Nothing wrong with that. Heavens above Tana Umanga actually led the all Black haka, and he's Samoan. i thought that was fantastic. i think we shed thde maori only stuff. If others do it with the right spirit like these guys then good on them. They don't have to be perfect, and i think it's graet that part of maori culture is now associated with a growing sport. It will always be part of the game.

  • Haka is a maori thing ... i can understand if New Zealanders do it ... sure whatever the All Blacks aren't all maori but Americans? I think thats wrong! It's a traditional war dance of a country not just some random dance before sport. Show it some respect!

  • As you said a traditional war dance. Who decided that tradition is only to be used by one little group of people? You watched the movie you know this team also uses it as a tradition to honour. Don't go spouting nonsense...

  • It is traditional to the Maori ... and the Maoris are not a "little group of people", they are a race whose traditions are imbedded in their culture the Fijians do the Cibi, the Tongans have the Sipi Tau. The dances are not because of sport or rugby just like a national anthem isnt. You dont see this team signing the NZ national anthem before the game. If they want to do a war dance maybe they should come up with their own.

  • I never said the dances are only about rugby or sport... I said that they are about respect and honour. Who cares what group uses that?! As long as you keep the traditional values intact! They don't use it to look cool, they use it because they respect it.

Come up with an own wardance? And you dare to preach that people who use the Haka are unrespectful? "Oh, lets make our own cute little wardance." That's how you make it sound. Respect, my ass.

  • The haka isn't the only war dance in the world. Why is it that they must use this one? Because the All Blacks are so succesful ... its all about rugby. Why aren't they doing the Sipi Tau instead?

  • ... Somehow I doubt you saw the film. Or if you did, I doubt you understood anything about it.

I won't waste my time trying to explain something that is so bloody obvious in the film. You want to get my point, watch it and pay attention.

  • look i think they were very brave to do the haka. and look half the fucking all blacks are white we dont hear you complaining that their doing the haka now do we. theres nothing we can do to change the movie so we should just appreciate the fact that they put it in there.

  • awesome movie I liked it very much

  • I think this is huge shit. What a wanker, I dont give a fuck how mch you like the All Blacks Im insulted by this, truly am.

  • I hate it when white kids do the Haka... and im white and a rugby player

  • I want to see this movie!!!))

  • woops i meant south africa 2005

  • i recognise america having an awsome spirit with their sports

i just really hope this isnt another hollywood blunder. but it looks cool.

ALL BLACKS VS SOUTH AFRICA @))% HAKA

  • I still dont kno... my iwi's Ngati Toa and my koro got realy angry about it. But i think its gud that people are recognising the maori cutlure, i just wish their pronounciation was a little better.

Oh well, cant wait to c ths movie.

Im gna hav an open mind =)

  • te rauparaha words have gone worldwide, proud to live in the country where the haka originated.

  • Te Rauparaha was the man who created this haka from Ngati Toa.

  • people chill out....its called cultural diffusion

  • anything that promotes rugby can only be all good- the haka seems pretty accurate to me, i've been an all blacks fan since i was born and lived all my life in canterbury, this guy is trying to make a difference to peoples lives and promote rugby and all i'm reading is miserable people slating them for using the haka. they do it as a sign of respect. we should be proud

  • I wonder which Maori community he received blessings from to perform this Haka

Either he was missed lead or Coach Gelwix out right LIED....because according to the rightful owners of this Haka he defiantly did not receive their permission

  • The eye-rolling, tongue-flicking haka war dance made famous by the New Zealand All Blacks rugby team was officially handed back to a Maori tribe yesterday to stop it being ripped off by Hollywood directors and international advertising campaigns.

The New Zealand government assigned intellectual property rights in the traditional Maori haka, the Ka Mate, to Ngati Toa, a North Island tribal group.

  • @mokopuna1

There are lots of Maori people who live in and around Salt Lake City. Why would you be so angry about Highland performing the Haka? I think it's a great compliment and shows respect for the wonderful Maori people and their traditions. Don't be a hater. :-) Coach Gelwix has helped make this world a better place because of the positive impact he has had on young men. Love to you!

  • @libermama I just hate it when people LIE !

It's so sad that a person with so much admiration like your Coach has to lie, what message does that send to all these young men who look up to him?

It dosent matter how many Maori you got living around Salt Lake City they can't give Highland permission to do the Ka mate haka

  • Funny how they perform the haka when there ain't one single maori in the whole movie? Whats that about??

  • i aint really rugby without a haka in there somewhere

  • *it

  • the real team is almost half maori and they did recieve permision for the haka that they do do they dont do the one in the movie they only used this one because its more famous

  • American doing the haka is wrong the pronounce and actions are all wrong if you going to do it than do it right. do it like us kiwis.

  • its funni 2 see them do the haka ther

    not that bad

but not as good as a real maori

    doe's it

  • I have played highland before. they raped us 61 to 3 but they were all nice guys.

  • Sean Faris Rocks!! i love him <3

  • I love how the real highland coach speaks, it's really inspiring

  • yeah he is a good speaker alright ,that's the problem he could tell you anything and you'd believe him.

truth be known he lied about the haka, they did not receive permission to do it, (This is 1 reason why the Maori sought the copy rights to stop it from being abused by outsiders)

  • Rugby rocks,

    There is nothing like it.

  • I just can't wait to see this film!!! I love Sean Faris!

  • Oh Plus When the actual highland team does it the actions are wrong lol

  • PLus they say its really fast with the pauses taken out or in the wrong place sounds funny

  • AAAw man i dont know what it is the american accents i dont know what but it sounds sooo wrong when they do the haka they definitly pronounce the words a whole lot differently then we do go watch the All Blacks do the haka... amazing chilling and said properly!!

  • I'm so excited to see this movie! I live in Utah and I can't believe I missed Sean when he was in Salt Lake.

  • sean feris gets changed to my position :)

    im so happy lol

  • i can't wait to see how Sean Faris acts in his position as right-wing...especially when he says he the one who scores the tries LOL...With the likes of Joe Rokocoko of the All Blacks, Bryan Habana of the Springboks or Lote Tuqiri of the Wallabies, they're all great Wings and so i wanna see if he learned some of what they do and how they play.

    Looking forward to it!

Hi! I die! I die! I live! I live! I die! I die! I live! I live! This is the hairy man Who fetched the Sun And caused it to shine again One upward step! Another upward step! An upward step, another ... the Sun shines!
