Great mic, I use one. However I wouldn't reccomend the software, it is hard to use and just doesn't work like a normal recording program. I use samplitude by Magix and it is awesome
In Cubase, under "VST INPUTS", you will see an area that shows groupings of 2 tracks at a time with a clickable button to turn it off or on. Whenever you first open Cubase, it will be set on track 1 and 2 only. Before recording my 7 tracks of drums at the same time, I must go in and tell the software I need to use all 8 inputs at the same time. Do you have the mixer/controller interface that comes with the firestudio?
I need to record all inputs at once but Cubase only allows me to select one bus as the "deafult" bus. This only allows me to use two inputs at a time. Please help.
Can you tell me more about what gear you have and what you are trying to do?
I know in my Cubase software, it will only take 2 tracks at a time until I go to an area and click to allow the other 6 as well for a total of 8 tracks at the same time. The area is VST inputs.
Yeah. I need to record all inputs on my Presonus FireStudio at once. But when I go to VST connections on Cubase it only allows me to select two inputs at a time as a "deafult bus" and those are the only two inputs I'm able to record with. If you need any more info just ask. THANKS FOR ALL OF YOUR HELP.
Hey Boomer i've got my new studio coming and i've got the behringer eurodesk sx2442 and the maudio 2626 which is similar to the presonus and was looking for some advice on routing from the board to my interface because i'm going to be doing some live band recording and so forth. Any ideas on signal routing? thanks bro much luv love the video. Be blessed
Hey man. Thanks for watching. Well, there are many ways to wire your gear. For recording, I mainly have all 8 mics go into my Firestudio. From there it connects via firewire to my computer. From there I take a left and right out to my main board for playback and control the individual volumes and EQ of the tracks with the software. Hope that helps. Check out the Presonus forums for great tips and info.
Hey Boomer love your studio dude my studio is in progress now there finishing the final touches on the iso room and the live room and i've got the behringer eurodesk sx2442 and my interface is the maudio 2626 which is similar to the presonus and was wondering how to come from the board to the interface such as you have your setup as far as routing goes i'm going to be tracking live bands and so forth. Thanks man and much luv. great video!!!! be blessed
Boomer, I'm just getting started. I've got a great PC. I have a band and guess which insturments take up the most imputs...the drums!! I'm thinking about the same mixer. What interface do you use or recommend with Cubase for a guy like me who has a kit, bass, keys, and percussion section? Plz respond?
Hey man. I have the Presonus "FireStudio" which is a firewire connection to your PC with 8 inputs that can all record at the same time. When I bought my interface it was around $1,000 Canadian. Then you can use 8 mics on your drum kit at the same time. Hope that helps
i just wanna ask, where do you use your sub board for? and can you give me some diagram or some instructions of how did you set up your studio? because im planning to make my own studio too...like connecting your mixer and stuff...thanks....
WTF kind of music is that supposed to be dude?Chumbawumba called, they're angry about the child support they're paying for the love-child with Maddona.
Just playing man, nice setup, what outboard compressor is that?
Dude........that was the funniest comment I've ever read! Ya got me there! Ya that midi song I did in the first few weeks of getting all the gear is not good enough to be in a 70's porno movie! I will loose it soon and replace it with all the "real" tracks we have done so far.
sweet setup dude. I had something similar under my house untill the wife's dopey brother moved in 6 long months. my gretsch catalina kit is stacked up in the spare room and i,m reduced to using crappy drum samples? ah well..memories:)
Hey, check out my 2 new videos I made on Labor Day(United States On Yesterday)I used a VocoPro karaoke machine and digital karaoke mic mixer to make them sound almost CD-like, almost professional! The sound on these two tunes I did(Uptight & Every Kinda People)is so clear, you'll think it was from the studio! And, also, check out my friend "Kayla1557" and her two new songs(also using the VocoPro karaoke machine and digital mic mixer)and the microphone was a Radio Shack microphone!
LOL. Good point. Well.....I have a bad back so I did prioritize. I bought cymbals to fill my stands. I am replacing them one at a time. Do you have a cymbal or two you would recommend?
Not too long ago, I bought myself a Samson G-Track microphone from Sam Ash and if and when I get my new computer on my 47th birthday in August(on the 2nd on that month)I'll be record some stuff on the network using the G-Track microphone!
Have you ever used a Shure microphone or a Radio Shack microphone before? I use a Radio Shack microphone when I record along with the karaoke tracks, especially the original Motown tracks from "Motown Original Artist Karaoke"(Singing Machine) Also, have you ever used a Samson Condensor USB microphone?
Yes. I have about 7 Shure mics. Mostly 58's and a few 57's. I love the shure 58 for live vocals. I use a shure 57 to record the snare drum. Many years ago I bought a radio shck mic that looked like a shure 58. One day, for whatever reason, I took it apart. Turns out it was made by shure.
I've never tried the samson USB mic. I use an old school tube condensor mic that plugs in via XLR.
I try different mics all the time. Mostly I like to have a seinheiser for the kick and just a shure 57 for the snare. The other drums I use what I have. (57's & 58's)
and also you said thats your main board now what do you do with that like do you run the 8 outs on the back of the onterface into the board? and what do you do from there
I have only had this gear for about a year so far. But currently, I have my inputs go into the Firestudio (8 inputs), and then the stereo out from Firestudio to rack mount effects and then from there to headphone amp. That way I get effects in headphones while recording. That is one way. Another way would be to record direct to Firestudio, and during mastering run stereo outs from Firestudio into rack and compress entire thing. Yes, the 8 outputs from my firestudio go to channel 1-8 on my mixer.
Hey thanks for the comments! I use the cubase that came with my Firestudio. It's Cubase 4 LE I think. It has compressor effects built in it for each track. Try that first and see if it works for you. If not, then perhaps you would get a rack unit. I don't know much about which one may be better as they all do pretty much the same thing. Very important for a good drum sound though. I am still experimenting.
yea like i know on the back it has 2 ins and 2 outs for pre and out board gear ect. but what i want to know is how do u set it up in the program like each channel has its own sends and returns how do u set that up i looked at the diagram but it doesnt show connections to the comptuer to the outboard gear and back into the computer
There are Firepod diagrams on the net showing you all the connections. I record a few ways. Sometime I use my rack gear for playback while recording. That way I don't need to use software effects which effect latency but I still get a kick ass sound in my headphones while I record. I have also sent my drums through my rack comp during recording, I've used my outboard gear during mixdown. So many variations. Does that help or were you looking for more specific which jack goes where?
Believe it or not.............Wall Mart! They are the cheapo $25 ones. The real ones are in the hundreds and I couldn't find them. The strobes are also Wallmart specials! Rockin roll on a budget!!
Whats up canadiancouple, how r u. Love your home studio. I have a lil project studio and i would like to know what material is that u have on the walls in the control room. Thank u dude and keep doing your music, nice sound..
Hey man. Do a google search for foam soundproofing material to find something in your area. If you live in Canada, check out "The Foam Shop". That's where I got mine from. It's called accustimax or something like that. 2 inch over 1 inch. The little bit I have totalled around $1,000 Canadian so it ain't cheap! Hope that helps.
We get as good an effect with egg crate mattress foam pads used to cover camping air mattresses. They cost less than $20 each and work amazingly well! Just google "camping mattress egg crate foam". This foam is exactly the same stuff just a LOT cheaper!
I'm not really sure what version it is. It came with my Firestudio interface. So did the Cubase I am using. We are currently working on a few songs old school (drums, bass, guits, vox) so I haven't touched the reason for a while now. Is reason 4 the best?
LOL. There are many Behringer haters out there. I find most of them are the suckas that paid $2,000 for the Mackie! Since I don't plan on quitting my job or becoming the next Bob Ezrin, the behringer exceeds my needs.
Sure man. I cheaped out on the mixer. I was going to buy a Mackie but it was over $2,000! So I settled with a Behringer for about $1,000. I am very impressed with it so far.
Cool..minus the live studio,im thinking to open my own amature recording studio. Dont worry Boomer,i live half a world away from u. so,no competition's there. hahhaha
Well, I know that is some kind of question which nobody answers easily, but how much money did your whole studio cost? I'm starting my own studio at home, but money is the limiting factor!
Tough to say exactly. I kept all the receipts but I had a few things already. I'd say that if you are talking about just the recording equipment (computer, firestudio interface, mics, headphone amp, cables), you can get what you need for about $3,000. If you add soundproofing, PA, effects, instruments ect...you get up to 10 - 15 K.
hell fucking yeah, are u telling me. im building mine in slow motion lol, it takes a lotta money but i might get it finished if i keep buyin gear everytime i can
I agree. I did songs 10 years ago on my tascam 4 track and then redid them in a pro studio a bit later. The tascam versions were always the best! Go figure.
I am using a firestudio interface and CUBASE comes with it for recording 48 tracks of old school drums, bass ect. It also came with the cool midi software for doing songs from your keyboard. That software is called "Reason Adapted"
LMFAO!! Ya man the "boom chica" computer music was just me playing around. I built the studio for old school drums, bass, guitars, vocals. Real music. Real musicians playing real instruments. The "Firestudio" device that I bought to record the old school music to my computer came with this cool "70's porn music simulation". So I'm sure after a few months of making cool soundtracks it will be back to recording real instruments again! Thanks for the funny comment!
Thanks man. It's still not done. It was an empty room and closet only 6 months ago. A few more weeks and it will be complete. I will work on my own stuff for the first 6 months to get a feel for the gear as its all new. And then I will do all kinds of projects.
OMG PWN!!! Freakin Audio Batcave! That is killer! You need to lend me some sounds!! Effin badass. Watching this reminds me of the first time I opened a video editing program!! Lost and dazed! Cept this is way more! lol
Hey i live here in Maple Ridge, B.C..i was wondering if u could help me record some songs!?!

GORGEOUS STUDIO. Do you ever produce local bands?

Thanks man. It's still not done. It was an empty room and closet only 6 months ago. A few more weeks and it will be complete. I will work on my own stuff for the first 6 months to get a feel for the gear as its all new. And then I will do all kinds of projects.
