There is no reason to just run into the middle of the street when u clearly can c a car coming anyways. This is y we are taught to look both ways for a reason. Also that is y we have cross walks to make sure the people in cars can c u. It true drivers ve 2 look out, I do but sometimes ppl come out of nowhere from between the cars. The only time it safe to cross anywhere is if it not a busy day, except of course the highway.

Fun fact: If an asshat decides to stop in the crosswalk you can step on top of that section of the cat. So if the from of the car is in the crosswalk you can step over it. If they take it to court they can't win because they were where you needed to walk. I just thought that was interesting. If you don't believe me look it up. Someone from my school did this and the driver sued. That certain someone who rolled over the car won because the driver blocked his path.
