  • Dear is there anyway i can make a wider cord?

    kindly

    thanks

    tee

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!! Through your videos I can now use DPN's, knit on circular needles and knit an i cord! YOU ARE A KNITTING ANGEL!!!!!!!!!!!! GOD BLESS YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks Judy - I have been referring to many of your videos as I knit for the first time - a baby boy on the way has inspired me! Your information is invaluable and really clearly presented. Thanks so much!

  • I loved this video! You really helped me with it and you were the one who tought me how to knit! Thanks a bunch!!

  • Judy, you are a really good knitting teacher! You thought me how to knit and really helped me with this i cord. Thanks so much for the videos!!

  • @sunrisecolorado

thanks for letting me know I have helped you with my videos. please keep watching and look for me on facebook.

  • OK but when I do this the thing ends up flat... how do you get it to cord? what string do you pull on to get it cord up?

  • @cnith2

watch the video again. you have to bring the yarn from the back to the beginning every time.

  • Geez, I never knew I had any messages until now. It's been months ago that you asked but yes, Judy, I was making a swim suit. :D

  • I'm not a knitter at all. I just crochet. I know that it is possible to crochet an I cord. However, this looks so simple, that I think that a non-knitter like me could do this. Thanks for the information.

  • @platinumblonde428

yes, it's quite simple. I'm the opposite of you. the only thing I can crochet is a chain to use for a drawstring or handle. thanks for your note.

  • Thank you. So clear and simple.

  • I don't have any dpns, would it work if i used a circular needle and pushed it back to the same end each time? I'll try it...

  • @KloCreations

did you try it on a circular? I know it works, but much easier on a DPN. Look in thrift shops. Sometimes you can find a couple of them for very little money. thanks for writing. please keep watching and look for me on facebook too.

  • @knittingtipsbyjudy I did try it, and then I got really confused because the yarn was on the wrong side of the work... but looking back, it would be on a dpn too, so I looked at a few other videos and realised that it was meant to be like that, so I'm assuming it does work on circulars. Thanks anyway :)

  • thanks for the demo It works perfectly for me to finish ahat for y beloved grand daughter -SueSch

  • @TheSueSch

so glad my video was helpful. please keep watching and learning and look for me on facebook too.

  • What do I do at the end?

  • @ailevas

just cut off the yarn and pull it through with either a needle or crochet hook.

  • do u just bind it off normally

  • @mamasandlesamesa

I usually cut off a tail then take a crochet hook and pull the yarn through the stitches, then use what's left of the tail to sew the cord to whatever it is that you've made.

  • Great tutorial! So easy to follow, I'll go make one now and I don't think I'll need to reference any other videos to do it. Thanks!

  • @cheesepuff87

yes, isn't it amazingly easy....and amazingly useful. thanks for letting me know the video helped you. please keep watching and look for me on facebook too.

  • @CraftsDollsAndMe

isn't it great to know how to knit an I Cord? so easy.

    thanks for writing.

  • Judy, I've only been knitting for a few years and I've been avoiding things that call for an "I-Cord" because it sounded mean. Ty for showing us this! I'm making a swimsuit for my daughter so I really needed to know what an i-cord is.

  • @SoulKissification

Great! Glad you tried it and now know how easy it is....and how useful. Are you knitting a swim suit?

  • :-) FYI Just found a great easy pattern at ebeginnersknitting (.) com

  • can't you use circular needles and slide it to the other end of the needles

  • Thank You for this tutorial, very helpful, I have been wondering what i cord was for some time. Now I know!

  • @1crochet

glad you found it helpful. isn't it amazing how easy it is?

  • @smiLeMEsiLLy13

No, you must use dp needles.....just 2.

  • Thank you so much for this video. I made a sachet bag as a wedding present and the pattern called for an Icord which I had no clue about until I watched your video.

  • great video! Thanks! I'm a beginner when it comes to knitting.

Quick question: would you be able to use an i-cord to make a belt? Or is that not recommended? I was thinking I could cast-on about 10 stitches and make an i-cord belt. Not such much for functionality as looks (although could it be a functional belt?) Thanks!

  • I have a pattern I wanted to knit up that called for an i-cord, which I didn't know how to do yet.

This video really helped me! Thank you so much!

  • @aprilacus0

I'm sure I'll be using it a lot from now on!

me too....knitting for years before I heard of this simple, useful technique. Pass it on!

  • The I Cord always mystified me, but as I hadn't knit anything that called for it, I didn't pay much attention to it nor looked to see how it was done. But now I'm knitting a mug cozy that calls for an I Cord as a button loop, and now that I see how easy it is to do I won't hesitate to finish the cozy and break it in with a nice hot cup of tea! Thanks! :)
