THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!! Through your videos I can now use DPN's, knit on circular needles and knit an i cord! YOU ARE A KNITTING ANGEL!!!!!!!!!!!! GOD BLESS YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Judy - I have been referring to many of your videos as I knit for the first time - a baby boy on the way has inspired me! Your information is invaluable and really clearly presented. Thanks so much!
I'm not a knitter at all. I just crochet. I know that it is possible to crochet an I cord. However, this looks so simple, that I think that a non-knitter like me could do this. Thanks for the information.
did you try it on a circular? I know it works, but much easier on a DPN. Look in thrift shops. Sometimes you can find a couple of them for very little money. thanks for writing. please keep watching and look for me on facebook too.
@knittingtipsbyjudy I did try it, and then I got really confused because the yarn was on the wrong side of the work... but looking back, it would be on a dpn too, so I looked at a few other videos and realised that it was meant to be like that, so I'm assuming it does work on circulars. Thanks anyway :)
I usually cut off a tail then take a crochet hook and pull the yarn through the stitches, then use what's left of the tail to sew the cord to whatever it is that you've made.
yes, isn't it amazingly easy....and amazingly useful. thanks for letting me know the video helped you. please keep watching and look for me on facebook too.
Judy, I've only been knitting for a few years and I've been avoiding things that call for an "I-Cord" because it sounded mean. Ty for showing us this! I'm making a swimsuit for my daughter so I really needed to know what an i-cord is.
Thank you so much for this video. I made a sachet bag as a wedding present and the pattern called for an Icord which I had no clue about until I watched your video.
great video! Thanks! I'm a beginner when it comes to knitting.
Quick question: would you be able to use an i-cord to make a belt? Or is that not recommended? I was thinking I could cast-on about 10 stitches and make an i-cord belt. Not such much for functionality as looks (although could it be a functional belt?) Thanks!
I have been knitting for years but had never heard of an icord. A pattern I have found uses this technique - this video has helped me hugely - thank you.
The I Cord always mystified me, but as I hadn't knit anything that called for it, I didn't pay much attention to it nor looked to see how it was done. But now I'm knitting a mug cozy that calls for an I Cord as a button loop, and now that I see how easy it is to do I won't hesitate to finish the cozy and break it in with a nice hot cup of tea! Thanks! :)
thanks for sharing this video ! i am a complete newbie to knitting and i saw this in a pattern and had nooo idea what it was ...you make it very very easy to understand..thanks again !
Thanks so much for this video! I came to the end of my fingerless mittens and discovered that I didn't know how to make an I cord, but your video saved me! Thanks again!
how kind of you to take the time to reply ...your videos encouraged me to knit fair isle for the first time ever and following the pattern was simple once I got going .I have been a knitter for 50 years and have never attempted cable either ..yet !
Just take a large eyed sewing needle, slip the yarn through all the stitches and pull. Hope that helps. Please keep watching for new videos. I'll have a new one up today or tomorrow.
I can't believe how easy this turned out to be after I just could NOT figure it out on my own. I was making it way harder on myself. Thanks for helpful video!
THANK YOU! I kept finding written instructions with no pics and I couldn't wrap my heasd around it. This is exactly what I needed....I'm bookmarking the video so I can access it when I start the I-cord for my handfasting
Oh! I used to never make i cord because I thought it was too difficult. I was reading the directions wrong so instead of making i cord I was making something completely different.
Dear is there anyway i can make a wider cord?
kindly
thanks

OK but when I do this the thing ends up flat... how do you get it to cord? what string do you pull on to get it cord up?
cnith2 3 months ago
@cnith2
watch the video again. you have to bring the yarn from the back to the beginning every time.
