A GUY gets angry at a cop, brings a shotgun and other weapons, kills everyone in the room except for 2 cops, then dies. These are little jimm'ys descendants
I'd hate to see honest citizens lose their guns licenses and the right to protect themselves, but /obviously/ keeping guns out of the hands of unstable people is important, too. The fact that he used a shotgun instead of an assault rifle makes matters worse for me, because I don't have much problem with keeping assault rifles under tow, but I believe in letting people own rifles and handguns for sure. Anyway, sticky subject. Just please don't bring your Euro-of-guns-afraid statement to me. Sorry
People can defend themselves with hunting weapons (single shot/ bolt action rifles and single/ double shot shotguns). Let the police have everything else.
@Marnerbanana: I still think citizens should be allowed to carry handguns for personal self-defense; trying to lug a shotgun everywhere would be impractical. Also, there's always the possibility that, if the government were to turn against us, the police would be right in step. I hate to sound like a fanatic, but it's still something to keep in mind.
Well I mean for home defence. For out-of the home defence you can put the rifle/ shotgun in your 4x4 or just carry it with your huge backpack. If you're going somewhere without a 4x4 or a huge packpack you shouldnt need a weapon in the first place.
And I'm pretty sure military/ police units would rebel and turn over arms if there was such a situation, plus being holed up with a custom M16 isn't going to stop the government from rolling tanks into your village.
@Marnerbanana: I agree that a shotgun is best for home defense. There are people who work in dangerous places who might like the option of being able to conceal carry a 9mm or Saturday Night Special. (I might.) I hope you're right about the police turning over weaponry. The point is that you would have a fighting chance with a weapon at your disposal; an M16 will do more than a butter knife.
"Work in dangerous places" would need some further description. At any rate if its that bad they should just have some sort of security license and armed employees.
Well they always do, army units joined the republicans in the spanish civil war, the russian revolution relied on sailors, if it finally comes to civil war you're going to get infinite more support from rebel army groups than a few villages with rifles. Butter knife or M16 you have no chance against a tank.
@Marnerbanana: Fair enough about the army. Armed employees would be the people I'm talking about, however. I'm not sure why you seem so against responsible citizens carrying handguns.
Just like you don't trust the government, I don't trust civilians. Allowing them to own military grade weapons or easily concealed firearms is a recipe for disaster, allowing them to assassinate politicians (the Reagan attempt), commit massacres, rob stores, or just have accidents.
@Marnerbanana: I see. Well, I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. I believe civilians who have no serious criminal history should have the right to self-defense with handguns or shotguns. (Assault weapons are another matter.) Accidents may happen, but the government trying to control and worry about everyone in such a manner doesn't seem right in my eyes.
I'm guessing you're in the UK? I'm in the US, so there's some natural bias either way.
@Marnerbanana and people should be allowed to carry a concealed handgun. one time in texas this guy came into a restaurant and shot up the place, and this lady's parents were killed because her pistol was in her car and she could not get into it. think about it if we don't have guns then we cannot defend ourselves from criminals,i assume you are from another country.
If people can legally carry concealed weapons then people can get stopped by the police mid way through a killing spree and get away. Cops can carry guns, and paranoid people can have shotguns or hunting rifles in their homes/ small businesses/ restaurants. Anything more than that and you'll have guys taking potshots at politicians because they legally owned pistols and were allowed to have them under their jackets in public when they haven't been through police training.
@Marnerbanana look at where i live in south carolina, not too much crime, or gun crimes for that matter, know why? because guns are everywhere here and alot of people here carry concealed legally, and criminals know that they are likely to get shot because they don't know who is armed and who is not, versus new york for example, guns are HIGHLY restricted up there and people get shot EVERY day there, because there thugs know that not too many people are armed and they are easy to victimize.
If you're desperate just keep a hunting rifle or a shotgun in a secure gun safe. No civilian needs a pistol or automatic weapon. Keep guns in the hands of the military, the police, and reliable security firms.
You can still get your kicks from shooting and hunting in the UK, but there's much less risk of people going nuts with automatics or having concealed pistols to commit crimes with. Cartels smuggling guns is a big issue in the US,but more funding & action & it'll be ok
@Terf1988 if the govt WERE to turn on us. then the army would side with the us CITIZENS, because that would make the govt a domestic enemy. but i HIGHLY doubt that that would happen.
The station's the place you should be safest, but all it takes is a maniac with a boomstick (or worse) pulling a Terminator to FUBAR the day. Semper Vigilate.
@Tiffyangel77 It's my favorite show. It was actually canceled for a while by NBC because it was too violent but the fans of Southland supported it so much that TNT picked it up.
@ConArtistsFilms I tried looking for a DVD set of it, but i couldn't find any.. but i could be blind and not know it too :D but yeah AWESOME! I think i liked it straight away, because it seems more realistic than most cop shows we watch today. Especially when Sammy says he pissed himself XD I thought oh .. yeah sounds legit xD. Thanks for uploading though ;)
@Tiffyangel77 There's defiantly a DVD set you can purchase on Amazon but in stores I don't believe they have it. Shit, I'll also piss on myself if some guy ran in a building gun blazing with a shotgun. That's what I love about this show, the realism. The cops going to crime to crime doing there jobs and the detectives solving cases that are not outrages like most shows. I'm going to be uploading more Southland videos too, so keep a look out on those.
I pissed myself., shhhht me to hahaha
