I've seen these swirling clouds many time where I live (near Gibraltar rock) and not necessarily when its stormy. I'm no expert but it has alot to to with air currents and nothing at all to do with tornados... if it did i'm sure I would have seen one by now!!! Maybe I can get a video next time, only they're so quick that by the time i'm ready to shoot, the rolling thing is done!!

Faster wind at the bottom and slower more heavier wind at the top can cause this i'm assuming. Beautiful catch amazing to see mother nature in action. Not sure if it's a funnel cloud or the wind manipulating the shape and speed of formation of the cloud but it was amazing to see. Thumbs up.

@xMichieChan that's a signature of tornado formation. The rolling swirling cloud was a hook echo which is a very strong indicator of a mesocyclone. All tornadoes come from hook echoes but not all hook echoes produce tornadoes.

i know an explanation.the sky is a reflection of the oceann,so there mush of been a huge wave and  the cloud happened to be moving.if this wrong i know another explantion.The water just finished condensation,so the cloud was forming to a stratus,nimbostratus,or culunimbus.btw i am only 9 and i know this. very sad

I experienced something even more amazing.

I was at Bondi Beach.

The clouds started off looking like rolling mountains in the distance

As it got closer, it took shape.

It wwas a rotating horrizontal tube of cloud.

All of a sudden, a hole burst in the side of it.

It was as if it was encased in a sort of membrane, and cloud started pouring out like water until it became a giant wall of cloud.

Was absolutely terrifying, but the most amazing thing i had ever seen! i wish i got a photo. =[
