If the EU were to force one language just like they have a flag, currency, national anthem and government then it really would be the final stage of the loss of sovereignty that the proud nations of Europe have been subjected to. I don't think it's fair to call the European Union, "United States of Europe" it's more like the EUSSR. In the United States of America we have something called 10th amendment powers within the Bill of Rights and Constitution, which allows individual states in America to block legislation from the central govt. in the District of Columbia (D.C.), those states also have the right to secede. EU doesn't allow such sovereignty, it's more centrally planned like the USSR.

@CosmicCannonBall With respect, I think you've completely missed the point.. The United States of Europe is a term used by Winston Churchill to describe a European Federal State like the USA. The USA is one state with many states inside. Those states have the ability to pass laws and legislation at a local, state level and areas like defence and foreign policy are decided at a federal level. The EU is very similar to this frame work.

They developed their own languages currency, culture monarchies etc. But the north american colonies were young states with no history, not much individual soverignty, status , so they decided to become united states of america because there was nothing much to lose (with history, status, culture) by doing so.

The EU Parliment has hundreds of people visiting it everyday(mostly children). They get a 1 hour brainwashing seminar and a treat of 200 euros each! You dont have to be a qualified psychologist to realise thats a cheap psychological trick designed to subconciously buy EU devotees. When they think or hear of the EU be it in the news or in a discussion they think positively of it. Not because of anything its done but cause of the 200 euros they recieved!
