@RavenHawkes While I agree that the part was definitely written for Dax, and I think she coudl have been a good character for the scene, I do like how Bashir's lines are almost prescient of the genetic engineering reveal. He's fascinated by an(other) artificial lifeform and walks through security even easier than the usual saboteurs.
@StreetFighterFan86 no noo I remember in season 3's extras he mentions joining the British Society of Gastroenterology... too bad i would've liked to see him act some more
@genericusername337 Ya he is a good actor, the only other acting I have seen him do was the movies "Kingdom of Heaven" and "The Last Legion". He was pretty good in both.
@Javasboi It's Birthright part 1, key plot of both episodes is Worf finds some info out about his supposedly dead dad, after lot of uncertanty, he goes to find him, ends up finding a romulan/klingon colony (won't spoil the rest). Meanwhile, Bashir and Geordi help Data find a hidden "dream" program within him
Was just as DS9 Started, way of promoting the series (like how Picard appears in the first episode of DS9, and Riker does a one off later)
I love this scene! Bashir is so cute with Data, here, I didn't remember that! Thanks for share the scene, and also thanks for adding the info about which episodes it precedes and follows. :)
this doctor cures his patients then makes them feel guilty into dating him aswell as chasing dax . in this time he would be in jail for immoral harassment
I love the way data goes originally to investigate a breach of security and Julian, too distracted with his work, happens to ask casually: "see if you can boost the power output by 65%" and then Data immediately leans in to make the attempt before realizing why he was there in the first place. Data, you suck at security! Worf would have drawn his phaser before even entering the room growling "Step away from the computer before I pimp fist you upside your face!"
@TheKlink It's not that Dr. Bashir wasn't allowed to be there in person. He is a doctor, and in Starfleet, so he wasn't really trespassing (he might have had permission to be there, for all we know). The problem is more he was using their equipment in an unauthorised way.
Why was Sickbay unmanned at this moment...

If only Bashir's genetic engineering had been revealed at this point, I think it would have made a cool conversation for the two of them.

Data has the strength of (insert very high number here) men, and yet he makes Bashir carry the big ole hunk metal. Personable indeed.
