  • The Dolphins will be leaving any day now.

  • Thank you! I've been sharing this opening sequence for years, and this is the first one of any quality. So Long, and Thanks For All The Fish!

  • No top comments with 42 thumbs up?

  • Which was the most intelligent species on earth?

  • @JaguarsShadow94 I assumed mice.

  • @IJVin O yeah i remember. :D thx

  • I really need to watch this movie anybody know where I can find it?

  • No one better at reading Douglas Adams than Stephen Fry.

  • How is it that no one has made an H2G2 musical yet?

  • I love the fact that 5 months ago, there were 7 dislikes. Now, there are 7 dislikes. Proves how awesome this song is!

  • Seven people weren't tiny tots or pregnant women.

  • No, Zooey Deschanel is the best part of the film.

  • @Hovemond no she's not and if any actor in this film was the best part of it, it would be Martin Freeman.

  • To this day, thanks to these books, my favorite number remains 42.

  • Best part of the film. Ironic its the opening really xD

  • What's the first most intelligent?!?! :o

  • @ShuLuvsJoo Mice

  • Salut salut salut salut et merci bien pour le poisson !

  • thx for all the fish

  • @chowontaco no problem ;)

  • Thanks. Just pulled from the DVD. Suprised I haven't been asked to take it down.

  • @jroosa030 it's probably because you pulled it from the dvd with Touchstone and Eyeglass, and with the names in the opening

  • @jroosa030 well, you DID keep in the title and the people like Spyglass.

  • @jroosa030 u havent been asked to take down bc its awsome

  • I know this is somewhat irrelevant, but I must say this is a *very* well encoded video! It looks, at 360p SD, well above half the quality of the average 720p HD video on here, definitely better than the average 480p SD!

  • TIJ Douglas Adams. Thrive in Joy. Its been 10 years of missing you. My H2G2 omnibus is going wherever I will go today.

  • Thank you for this video(song). Remember: Don't Panic :) Peace

  • Belgium!!!

  • Deep Thought was my favorite character .

  • its mostly harmless

  • Don't panic.

  • This is the best song I've heard sung by dolphins by far. =)

  • "Don't forget to bring a towel."

  • Hail Eris!

I loved the books, loved the TV series, and love the movie...Eventually, I hope to hear the radio series. All four versions wildly contradict each other.

    Snarky

  • National Sunday Law.

  • Best. Book. Series. Ever.

  • Best movie intro ever. X3

  • genius

  • there was an earlier version of this movie where they kinda figure out the question is 6 times 7

  • That song's the only thing i really like about this film. 'so long and thanks for all the fish, laa laa laa laaa la la - la la' . Most fishily Catchy :). Maybe not really the fault of the film (although i think Adams may have been forced to 'hollywoodify' it a bit.), but I think the series as seen in the 80's spoilt the film for many of us because thats how we had already assimilated it. I saw the series recently in one sitting and was transfixed despite the length much more than with the film

  • @intermender you can't really blame Douglas Adams for 'hollywoodifying' it, since he died before the project properly got off the ground...

  • @TombeauDeCouperin ah ok thanks, i didn't know that. If you notice however, i wasn't blaming him, i was saying he would have had to have been forced. i.e the responsiblity would fall upon the people exerting the force.

  • @intermender Adams actually had very little to do with the final product, since he died long before the script finally used for the movie was completed. Some claim that a lot of the ideas were his, but it was a work in progress and even those parts attributed to him were things he wasn't satisfied with and wouldn't likely have made it to the final cut.

  • "It's also impossible to leap 20 feet into the air out of the water, even if you DO enter Matrix time to do it!"

  • my sister had to watch this in class idk her teaches a craza XD she said she had to try her best not to laugh

  • @VAMPIRE1LADY LOL! I also watched this movie in my class. But everyone in my class laugh really hard, the teacher too. ^^

  • I am just now starting the books. The movie sucked I heard.

  • the most intellegent animals are mice!! :D

  • Anything Past The 3:00 Minute mark I Was In Tears.

  • so long...

  • Totally epic at the end. :D

  • I went swimming with dolphins, they were smarter than most of the people I know

  • A little humor and Food for thought.....

  • kinda stupis but also funny too

  • Maybe if we say 42 enough, people won't notice we didn't get any of the philosophical themes in the series.

  • @pacific14586 42.

  • i love this movie. [=

  • Love this bit of the film, but the book's kind of better, I think. I still like the film though.

  • 42 XD

curious thing, i wonder if they are directly related, haha

  • I'm 12 and my dad has only just made me read the original book, and I'm lovin' it! :D

  • @LydiaTheGingerCat Hey lydia, good to know you are reading nice books.. keep reading, its a very good exercise to your brain to develop your imagination and critical sense.. Try writing too, its pretty fun.. show your dad what you think, i bet he'll be surprised.. children always amaze us with your thoughts..

    Have fun, and take care..

  • Everyone remember Towel Day in several weeks!!

  • I always have my towel handy...Well, so long, and thanks for all the fish..

  • Of course Stephen Fry had to be the voice of the Book. Perfect. :)

  • A truely good friend of mine, Paul Field, passed away two weeks ago. I asked him for advice once on a situtation that had no answer, or hope of fixing. Paul told me at thimes like this, he would always refer to one of his favorite quotes..... So long and thanks for all the fish..... Paul was not one to go down with someone elses sinking ship. Like i said, a great man and a sence of humor that this old world will miss.

  • Not probably is

  • I would love to see more movies made! It was so funny, and captured most of the important plot points, not that this series has major plot points in a linear fashion due to the ever complicated issue of time travel.

  • I thought this was a pretty good adaption. Of course it's not as great as the book (the movie never is) but I thought it captured the Hitchhiker's feel pretty well

  • hahaha... i saw this on opnig day it was funny bc at my movie theater if you brought a towel you would get half off of the movie ticket. was a grate way for promotion. i loved the books. and dare i say it. the older version of the movie.

  • A great book by a great writer ..... and this movie was the crapyest thing i have ever wached. Read the book people!

  • Ah it was ok. The book is the best, but I think every version of h2g2 is pretty cool in it's own way

  • yeah, I don't think they've ever really messed this series up...i like the old british episodes though too...and now i know both the ultimate answer AND the ultimate question!

  • so long and thanks for all the fish! i luv this =P

  • wanna get high?

  • Forty. Two. That's all I have to say.

  • @SleepyDario isn't in that movie the meaning of life????

  • @MrPie32 haha, yus :]

  • @SleepyDario what do the numbers 40 and 2 have to do with anything? Punctuation for emphasis failure.

  • @SleepyDario Oh bollocks! Really? I was hoping for more!

  • Yes, I agree it is the best part, but only because the rest of the excellent movie contains no cetaceans.

  • Putting this in the beginning was a very smart move.. Had me hooked

  • LOVE this part. And Marvin. <3

  • mice says the book

  • Then who's the 1st most Intelligent Creature on earth

  • Mice are on the movie :D

  • SPOILER ALERT^^^^^^^^^^

  • no it was baout more then that u have to watch the movie to understand what im talking about, they are just saying that they knew about the world ending an that everyone else never listened to them its a rly funny movie lol

  • No <_<

It was about a man being abducted by aliens.

It's different than how you would think it is, but it's win.

  • It's about the earth being destroyed and the main character gets into a spaceship and manages to escape. He finds the answer to the great question of life, universe and everything else but can't find the question itself

Also a whale and a petunia's pot a are created several miles above the surfice of an alien planet and you will hear their whole life's thougts, but that's not important to the story.

You may learn why the earth has been created

You won't understand anything unless you watch it.

  • Hey, the petunia's are (eventually) important!

  • If they ever get around to making sequels we'll find out why.

  • I wish they would. D:
