  • Sir, might I ask you what calibers you use in your deer rifles? I've watched many of your videos and I love them. You are a great hunter. I have noticed your deer run after being shot. I use a 30.06 caliber and they never make it past one or two steps. I wonder if your caliber choices are limited by law in Japan?

  • @mini14gb My gun is .410 caliber bolt action slug gun. It's absolute kill range is 150 yards. Over that range the bullet power is too weak to kill a deer. And at 150 yards the grouping is 8 inches. So I always shoot it on its chest and it almost always run 100 yards after getting my bullet. The law limits the gun power for the initial 10 years. I have 8 year experience now. Thanks.

  • @virtuovice So 2 more years you have to wait. After that how powerful can your rifle be? I have a massive amount of guns and hunt with an Armalite AR-10T Carbine in .308 and Savage American Classic 30.06 just to name a few. You will love center fire cartridges when you get to use them.

  • I/m b/ kjd :-) s9>,

  • Another great video Wako my friend. I pray that you heal quickly and completely. God bless. John

  • I also find that VG10 is a relatively soft steel compared to 154cm and ATS34.

I am a hobby knifemaker, and drilling through hardened VG10 at 59/60 Rc is much easier than drilling through ATS34 and 154CM at 59/60 Rc.

If you could make anything on the cKc hunting knife different, what would it be?

  • @ngraudal I love Fox River and TK2 very much in 4 inch blades. But their designs are very different. I am just a user but I can say that the Field Knife handle has a bit too much swelling at its center portion. I personally like a straight handle more than a well contoured handle for various angled holdings in the field deer dressing. Thanks.

  • Hey Wako I hope your hand is feeling better. I was kind of surprised that you didn't stitch up the tendon. But your are a doctor so i am sure you know what it best. Anyways hope you heal quickly and keep up the great videos.

  • Ahhhh.....he's alright. New hunting video is up.

  • I hope Wako san is okay.......he usually sign on and reply to PM or comments right after his chunting trip. I am starting to get worried.

  • Looks like your hand could be getting infected . Or not?

  • @johnwoodz1220 No infection but just inflamation. Now it gets like almost nothing. Thanks.

  • Very good. I have the other version of this knife Wako. It is my favoutrite knive, or one of my favourite knives. Your one is very nice with the mosaic pins. The handle is very comfortable in any grip and control. It's an excellent blade. I love it

  • On that next hunt you can maybe use the Goddard DiamondBlade Hunter. It will be exciting to see it used half a world away!

  • Virtuovice SAN. first i send my respect to you . i enjoy your videos alot.. i have a ceramic knife which my friend brought from Japan and we use it for meat also. but i saw your video that your wife use for only vegatables.so is it for only vegatable use?im a new beginner as knife person. and you make me started this hobby.thanks .in my country Türkiye we have some quality knifes local but good ones. we use French T7 steel .do you have knowledge about that steel?

  • @MrTufan35 My wife happens to use the ceramic knife entirely for vegetables or fruits because we take them raw in many cases. For meat or fish she uses a German stainless steel knife. I don't know of the T7 steel. Thanks.

  • virtuovice looks like wales in uk , great videos just like to ask what cal rifle and weight bullets are you using for deer ,i use 243win with 100 grn and 270 win with 130 grn all the best steve

  • @thesheepman220 According to Japanese gun control law I must use .410 caliber 200 grain copper bullet for the initial 10 years. Its kill range is 150 yards and I am satisfied with it so far. But I will be able to get a rifle license after 2 years. Then I will get a 7mm Rem Mag and a 308 Win. Thanks.

  • Great knife indeed. You nailed it..... functional beauty. Watching all your videos inspired me to get a knife from kyley/ckc as well. Getting the same modified forrester 7 in N690. As you showed, the steel is pretty good. By the way, how do you keep your meat fresh till you get home to cook. Type of container you use during transportation. And do you freeze (solid hard) it at the hotel till u get back?

  • @metawolfdblade All the meat got during staying at the hospital goes to nurses there. I am lucky and have many consumers in the field. So I only bring back the meat got during the way back home. So the meat will stay in the car for 15 hours at maximum and it doesn't make anything wrong to it. Soon after coming home I wash it and hang it in the garage at 5 degree C. And after 2 week aging it comes to the kitchen. Thanks.

  • @virtuovice that aging process would make the meat even tastier i bet! Those nurses are very lucky that you came in with all those meat goodies (unlucky for you to get hurt though, very unfortunate) Get well soon!

  • Never cut against the direction where your hand is.

  • Enjoyed the video. Looks like the hand isn't bothering you too much..

    P.H. Florida U.S.A.

  • Beautiful small stag....reminds me of the first flute stand.

  • I am considering a cKc Thrive...what is your considered opinion of this blade type and style of knive?

great Video as usual...Great hunting Wako-san.

  • @Penthraxxus The Thrive will come to me from Nebulax123 in the US soon after he put a good handle onto it. Then I will compare them very thoroughly. Their blade features look substantially different and it will be a very interesting comparison. Thanks.

  • Is it normal in Japan to only take those cuts of meat?

  • @NoBSSurvival The deer are so plentiful and they take so many that it is not neccasry to take all the meat. no room for cold storage. and most Japanese people don't have lots of room for meat storage. so, he only takes choicest cuts of Stag. and it is not leagal for him to sell it or give much of it away for health reason(Japanese Law). if he takes 20 Plus deer a season and takes 20 kilos of meat per. that reaches 400 kilos of meat a season. thats a large amount of Stag meat.

  • Looking forward to the mountain hunt. Thanks for sharing and stat safe.

  • I am very happy to see that you have not skipped a beat... have a good trip home. I look forward to the next snow-hunting video. I hope you can let us have a vid in less that three weeks-they are all very interesting. I watch your vids before breakfast. Thank you for them.

  • Thanks for a great video and review Wako. You have great stamina to keep hunting with your hand injury. As your friend I hope you can keep that hand healthy. I know you have the knowledge and skill for medical to look after it well, so stay safe and heal well.

  • Nice kill! Thanks for the upload.

  • Doc, it is good to see your hand is feeling better and you are in your usual good spirits and again going after the deer "with their stupid character" :))) Stay safe!

  • @1nvrknws When a deer was standing on the road, I stop the car soon and wait until it gets out of the road. Then I move the car at the regular speed and stop it where it was standing. Then in high possibility it is standing 50 yards away from the road watching the car. It is their stupidity to be shot. But if I continue to drive or increase the speed, it will get away and I cannot see it again. Thanks.

  • Hey Wako,The hand looks like it's okay.Nice young buck, tender meat.Kyley makes some good knives for sure.Beautiful spot by the ocean. Thanks for the video

  • Excellent video, as always. Have a safe ride home and rest your hand.

  • Nice review of the knife. But your finger is worrisome - it's swollen and inflamed. I hope you had started antibiotics. The initial injury may have penetrated into the joint (when your finger was fully flexed). It may look benign as you move the finger, and the extensor tendon glides over the joint capsule, but it can be serious. It's known as a fight bite/clenched fist injury. You may need a joint washout if not better. Please take care.

  • @MikeSoonster It is going pretty well and the swelling has diminished to almost nothing. Thanks.

  • I'm sure Kyley will be proud. I hope your wound heals well.

  • @SlinkingTiger I'm always proud when someone enjoys a good knife :) Even if they ruin one through incompetance its still better than having it sit on a shelf and do nothing :D

  • Got my answer...finished watching the entire video:) have a safe drive home!

  • Very beautiful knife. Good catch on the small stag

  • Very nice knife!

  • Wako, I hope your hand is healing up well. Good hunting. :)

  • Good to see you are hunting again! Are you staying overnight in a hospital for the length of this trip?

  • @Romanlegionnaire77 Yes. I was staying at the residence of the hospital and having the emergency and overnight job. Thanks.
