Nice performance. I feel bad for Rollando's recent troubles. Perhaps if he had stuck to slightly lighter roles like these, he wouldn't have had vocal problems. It does seem as if his current schedule supports this theory. Could be wrong... who knows...
What great interpretations! Inva, what a great beauty and great voice! You make Albania proud! After Mother Theresa, Ismail Kadare, and others, she is the greatest Albanian export!
Saludos
You know, you wouldn't think to look at him, that he'd have such a wonderful, baritonal, almost heroic sound. He's been compared to Domingo and I can definitely understand why. But he looks a little like Eddy Cantor and kind of elfin almost. What a beautiful voice. Ah, me, I wish I could afford a decent ticket to the Met.
But then I might have to hear Hazmat Papyrus in Norma. Hasbeen Paperian. Somthin' like that. Of course, I might also get to hear Diana Damrau as either Pamina or The Queen of the Night (she's alternating roles).
Not at all, the 20$ seats are valid for all performances. Of course, when you have Renee Fleming, you might have to start queuing up earlier. And yes, Diana Damrau was amazing, I saw her on Tuesday night as Pamina. Norma was not that bad.
What a treat! Wonderful. If they messed up I didn't see it. And besides. They are humans, not machines - which makes this so amazing in the first place.

Well, he is good and I like him very much, but vocaly Pavarotti was the best, as an actor... try Alagna (with Gheorgiu) in Lyon production.

There are 20 dollar orchestra seats on sale the day of the performance (usually priced at $100). You have to line up at 3pm though, for three hours.

singers are excellent!...but the orchestra is horrible...

I agree. The singers were great. The orchestra is a disgrace, not even up to the standard of a school orchestra. They were hopefully lost at sea.

Wow, his voice sounds so much fuller here and with a lot less breath and husky hue that he normally has on recordings!! Very interesting
