You know the video makes the 20 lbs on the R1 sound like the worst thing ever, but unless you're competitively racing it's not really going to make a difference. Chassis and suspension will determine how well any of the machines handle, not a meager 20 lbs. If you're a street rider you shouldn't let it be a deal breaker.

CBR is the best because it is extremely light (20 pounds lighter than the ZX10 if I remember right...), it handles very smoothly and is very stable in the corners and in the straights, and also because the power delivery from the motor is very smooth and user-friendly. ZX10 gets second because of engine power and looks, GSXR third because of reliability and looks (minus stock exhaust), R1 last cuz its ugly

the 2008 cbr1000rr rocks as that mid rang is dam powerful as every time i get on my 2008 cbr1000rr i throws me back and the front wheel comes off the ground. It also pulled a wheelie comming out of a turn the other day never had that hapeen with any of the bikes i been on as it shocked the hell out of me.
I own an 09 R1 and absolutely love it. I've test ride the 09 CBR,GSXR,& ZX10 before making my final purchase with the R1 and can't describe in words how big of a thrill tit is to ride the R1

Where one bike fails at something another bike suceeds.. im not a Honda fan but i have ridden it a few times..its easy to handle and cornering is sweet..but in a straight i doubt it will hold with anything in its class! I speak from experience and i own 4 bikes.

the CBR is so much better than any other bike it's appalling. The fact that it's still a flyweight in this group w/ the beefiest midrange still puts the other bikes to shame, even after a year.

The yamaha may be down on power and heavier but the cross plane crankshaft means amazing linear power and you can get on the gas earlier in the corner than any other bike
I believe Cycle World Magazine placed the GSX-R first.
Really though, what the journalist says in the first 30 seconds ("Saying one is significantly better than the other is mere hair splitting") is pretty much where it stands, and has for some time now.
All it takes is for a guy on the last place bike to put a couple hundred dollars worth of after-market parts on and he's got the advantage over the others.
Liter bike shootouts are interesting but pretty irrelevant these days.
I own the GSXR 1000 and while I like it, I bought it because it was discounted. Any of these bikes are better than 97% of you that are commenting on it. The R1 will crush it on the track and CBR is better but not by miles. The ZX-10 is just too uncontrolled. Like the Dodge Viper of liter bikes.
hey this was a good video. good to see you show the strong AND the weak points of the bikes and the video is more than just a commercial. I woulda loved to see a more in-depth shootout. I woulda loved to hear that R1 go through the gears.

funny the rest of the world got the results as:

and some as:

i have a 2009 R1 and i have ridden the 08 CBR1000RR ( same as the 09 ) nahhh
i dont think these guys we're riding the 09 R1 in "A-MODE" (mode switch)
