  • Coal mining at the expense of human habitat is atrocious. Fuck your ipod, if you can't fish you'll die you retards.

  • Coal miners are good people who do good work, but if Kentucky wants more jobs & a better economy it should stop coal and diversify - bring in new industry, encourage small business, etc. KY is suffering from the 'resource curse' - look it up on wikipedia

  • @wturner0018 Kentucky may have the a low per/hr electric cost, but that's not a meaningful statistic when you take into account how low the average income is in KY. As a percentage on income, Kentuckians are paying much more for their power than most americans are.

  • @playthegame57 Kentucky actually has the 3rd lowest electric cost per kw hour due to the use of coal.

  • One fish pond < jobs in hard economic times

  • game57.lol you got it all wrong its your sister that im playing with and she loves it and last night she told me that your mom wanted to play to and i told her that your mom couldnt handle a real countryboy......best thing for you to do is sit in your room at the rest home and enjoy the electric that coal is providing to keep your old smelly ass cool.remember coal keeps the lights on!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Countyboy ..Hahaha, you take the Cake, go play in the mud with your sister on your ATV, LMAO

  • funny that you tree huggers dont see what coal does for us in everyday live and if ya realy wont to make the coal mine fix problems goto msha.gov 2. read 3. tell them the problem 4. and start doing things the write way instead os cryin about things

  • Jesus christ, that people are actually defending strip mining, when they see what it does. Amazing. If coal companies are so wonderful, why is every coal producing state the poorest in the nation? Why are the coal producing counties always the poorest in the state? The run off KILLS everything. Including you.

  • Coal mine owners are crap just like the people who are defending the one who killed your fish. I lived in harlan for a long time and know the mine owners have the police and everyone else they need in there pocket. They should fix your land and also pay for your fish. Good luck my friend we need more good people like you in this world.

  • Just one last thing people of harlan county which is where i was born and raised by a coal miner,i now live in bell county and i work for a surface mine company and am proud to have a job in the mining industry.People its like this coal is a way of life, not just here but in the whole world from paper factories to electric companies water plants even most alternative power plants, think about what coal does for us,this country, these counties, just think of it this way coal keeps the lights on!!!

  • proud to be a coal miner and proud to have been raised by a coal miner. This was the stupidest video i have ever seen,mr lloyd you are a dumbass,i hope you find out what its like to live in these mining counties without coal, electric bills thats 10 times higher, gas so high you cant go anywhere,no businesses going to stay around because theres no money for them,i would like to see you when your sitting at home which will probally be a card board box, no tv cause you cant pay the electric bill.

  • @countryboy21575 This is the Stupidest reply on YouTube.. You pay the 2nd highest Electric Bill in the U.S. Your Rivers Is DEAD. Your roads is Junk. Your Mountains Is RAPED.And you Defend Stripping & Mountain Top Removel. For the little paycheck more you make if you was working for McDonalds. Go Play in the Mudd on You ATV. LMAO

  • @playthegame57 No you are the stupidest person on you tube i don't know where your from but i would rather live in this coal mining community than live close to you cause i'm sure everyone can smell your rottten ass from a mile away. You can continue to work at old folks home. If i could i would close every coal mine in the world for one month just so i could see all you tree huggers freeze in the dark and then i would ask you how you feel about coal and you would say coal keeps the lights on!!!

  • @countryboy21575 buddy i gotta agree with you %100 without coal that dumb ass wuld still be settin in the corner jerkin his cock to pass the time instead of watchin tv or listening to music on his ipod that coal helps for him to be able to charge...fuckin idiot

  • This is bull, I live near Harlan and my husband works for Nally & Hamilton and I hate to tell you all. Mr. Llyod had to allow them to do this. And he wants to complain after it wasn't want he wanted. They may not worry about it because they workers are told what to do. It is not their job to make it to his liking. The strip jobs allow more land for businesses and homes to be built for more jobs. Also, water from the mountains are pure where does the water you buy from stores come from? MOUNTAINS

  • well my dad works for the coal company mentioned and was also one of the people who worked for hours to try to save the fish. Both sides of the story are not mentioned here!

  • @damargirl12 there is no other side to the story the strip mines ruined his pond...... so they should be liable to fix the damages hell they make plenty of money why not fix the damn pond it isn't that damn expensive hell they have the equipment and soil to fix it there selves so just do it already or have they by now?

  • Very powerful and oh so true. This is truly a tragic and wonderful personal stories and like so many others speaks volumes to the individual lives that have been and are being destroyed throughout the region due to mountaintop removal. I have been testing waters for the past year in eastern KY and they are in horrible condition and threaten the lives of people. Thanks for an outstanding video....Tim Guilfoile

  • This is a really well done video - a good story told well. Thanks for sharing it.

  • i hate that love all yall how is it you have hair an jr dont lol i know about all of his kin folks good folks

  • my dad and i used to sell work clothes to coal miners from pineville to harlan to pikeville! i love kentucky! god bless the coal miners!

  • Really powerful, Alexa. Well done- the music and editing were seamless. What a terrifying truth- I hope something is done before it's too late. Keep up the good work and getting the word out.

  • I remember stip mines back in the 1960's; ugly gapping places on mountain tops in Harlan County, where little has been done and little is being done. So to stay, "Stop Stripping!" How can that be done? The rivers are full of dead and dying fish, no more water holes to fish and swim in; they are toxic waste disposal places now. Will there be beauty left after the coal is gone? Alternative fuel is the only answer and in KY with the mines and mountains, why not geothermal power? Thanks 4 the video!

  • This is an unsettling truth. The lack of consideration shown by many coal companies toward private landowners and the pristine beauty of appalachia is truly disgusting. I see it every day in Harlan Kentucky. Something should be done. Bring the beauty back to the mountains! Stop stripping.

  • Amazing work Alexa. You are bringing this important story out into the open. Thank you for introducing us to this unbelievable, courageous man.
