this happens when people are poor and can't afford to pay for services and goods , they try to improvise, to adapt. Often poor people are more creative than people in developed countries.
the are not travelling they are just attracted to the train. In India foods are enriched with iron thats the reason why they stick on to this huge piece of metal !! LOL
This was the most backward district of India, now story is changing and the next page of Devlopment has been opened. No doubt the progress is slow, but it is there. The meter guage Rail line has been converted in BROAD GUAGE Upto BAIRGANIA.A NEW ROAD BRIDGE HAS BEEN commissioned in paralell to old rail Bridge at DHENG,inaugrated by Sri NITISH KUMAR CM of BIHAR
by78: Please understand the fact, It is Bihar & they have to climb on the roof as they dont have any other transport ( in some areas ) & only 1 or 2 pair of trains are available in this type of local rout. For them reaching there destination is most important than safety measures.
@1979antu please understand this, quality of life not only depends on the government, but also on what quality of life people want to live, these people have chosen this kinda life...
unlike the us and other modernized countries where trains go by rules and are shit scared because of lawsuits, in India trains seem to be people friendly and they don't follow any rules, anything goes.
this makes westernized nations look like some kind of prison.. :( always bound by some rule and never truly free.
What are you, a Creative Writing major? Stop romanticizing a F-ed up train system. I see nothing people friendly about this train... unless you define the imminent danger of falling off the train as people friendly.
By the way, some rules are nice... for example, when waiting for a subway train to arrive, you are forbidden to step over the yellow line on the platform... if you don't like rules such as this, you are welcome to endanger yourself... as a matter of fact, why don't you head over to India and experience the freedom of riding on the TOP of a fast moving train yourself?
@jobz123 - unfortunately - I'm from UP and have had the luck of travelling by rail in europe, america and India - believe me - what you said is NOTHING to be proud of!! Thats the attitude that we indians tell each other to exclaim "what we have is best"
trust me dude...we're wallowing in filth!! indian railways for the most part is crap!!!
