  • I saw this car run at Penwell Raceway in West Texas around 1978/79. I know it held the Texas track record for time and speed for years. Penwell had a 1 mile shut down and I think the time was 4.31 @ 331MPH. It was spectacular and of all races I have attended this was the best! Every cigarette butt and bottle cap in West Texas went flying that night.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • @bradproffitt Brad, I tired both phone and email and neither one worked??

  • I was there as crew chief on the car. It was my first time in Hawaii, and a great experience.

  • I saw this car run at Campbell Industrial Park Raceway on the island of Oahu, Hawaii in 79' or '80. It destroyed our styrofoam cooler by blasting pebbles through it! Driver told me a story of a run at a track that blew the back window out of a racecar that was parked way beck behind the rocket car. The car had a small hole in it's windshield and the thrust blew through it and popped out the back window!

  • I was fortunate enough to see a hydrogen peroxide funnycar at 131 Dragway back in the '80s. Those things were scary! I think NHRA banned them? Thanks for posting!

  • You are welcome. I was a crew member, and at times crew chief on this car. I believe our best was 4.19 at 347 mph, which was beyond NHRA's sanctioned limit of 4.50 at 330mph. I also have video of Dana Van Dersarl, the purchaser of the car from Hayden, making his first runs in the car.

  • Thank you for this video.

Many drag racing fans need to know that this was the first car into the 4's in the 1/4 mile.

  • @meauxjeaux2 Don´t forget Sammy miller. He was first in the 3 sec zone.

  • @jimmy506persson Sammy was one of, if not the force, in rocket racing.
