ha ,gotcha! I detected latvian accent on first couple seconds of Your speech,'cause I'm latvian too:)But I'm not that fluent as You in english, however I have used very much the same techniques,as You advise and this has given me a lot of improvement.I pay much attention on pronunciation,it makes me feel confident, because people don't notice being me nonnative speaker. malacis ,Robert,es arī gribētu tik brīvi runāt.
haha, i want to say... I`m a brazilian guy trying to learn how speak english, and i really think your video so good ! sorry, maybe i wrote to wrong way, by the way ! great video
@lvzsony Thanks! By the way - rule #1 - NEVER be sorry about your level of English! ;-) I can cause sorts of confidence issues, so simply be aware of your mistakes and aspects of English you need to improve upon while staying totally confident about your English!
@pipegunMan hi i have sent a request to this skype ID, i'm also interested in practicing spoken english,,please add me.we can communicate and practice english
@lvzsony Ha ha, very funny! ;-) And what makes you think I'm just TRYING to speak? Ah... I got it. It's the accent, right? Well... You see, I really couldn't be bothered less by my accent and pronunciation because it's got nothing to do with English fluency, my friend!
@EnglishHarmony Hi! First of all, I want to thank you about this lovely video.
I am gonna use your advice and speak to myself- because I got no one else to talk to. And I identified with what you mentioned about understanding English, But when it comes to speaking it's getting hard to deal with.
@praneethreddy1 No problem, I hope you'll make self-practice as a part of your daily routine and you'll see what impact it has on your English fluency!
Hi nice tutorial , I have a question though , I live in USA for 2years , And now I can pretty much understand every single common word that people say, but the problem is that when I talk I can't pronunciate well. I'm 14 , and in school I don't talk much, but I hear very good, So the problem is that I can understand Everyone, but when I try to talk with them I mess it up, and I get embarased. What can I do to improve my words when I talk?
@diegorubio09 I'll hazard a guess - you probably try to match the native speakers with their pronunciation and speed of their conversations. These two are the biggest pitfalls foreigners fall for, and they've caused to much embarrassment for me in the past. Keep it simple, speak slower, and don't try to force the super-perfect American accent on yourself. I'm not saying you should disregard it completely, but you're probably overdoing it (hence your remark - "I can't pronounciate well").
@EnglishHarmony You're Correct , I will speak Slower for now on. really thanks for the answer, and also can you share a video that helps learn the accent ? I have trouble when I say "August" and when I say FarTher" or "FurTher" my problem is the "Th words" Can you send me a video that will help me with my accent ? Or a website that I can read and learn more
Good Day to you! You are a genius! I am a native speaker of English, living in New York. I am studying Spanish and Italian. Although I can understand 90% I still have trouble speaking and no one to practice with! I believe that you have just solved my problem and want to thank you. I believe that thinking in your target language is crucial. I want to learn German since my grandparents came from Bavaria. Thanks, Jerry Bauer, polyglot wanna be.
@jfbssp Thanks for the positive feedback Jerry, I'm glad you find my advice helpful! As for me being a genius... well, I can hardly see it being truth, but thank you anyway! ;-))) I rather think it's common sense that the primary purpose of any language is to serve as means of verbal communication, and it's way too often overlooked - even in school curricula....

You're Spanish or Spanish native speaker (maybe Latino American) are not you?
(from your Spanish accent)

@Monovoxx Sorry, but you got it wrong this time!
I'm a Latvian - it's an East-European country - but I'm actually flattered to be called a Spanish native speaker... Thanks! ;-)

Hi Robby, do you think it makes any difference to speak loudly to yourself than just murmur?
yinumzhou 1 year ago
@yinumzhou It makes no difference as far as you pronounce words clearly.
