  • playing music for him worked!! now he's the bass player!

  • see what I mean I HATE YOU MR. DRUGS!!!

  • Comment removed

  • LOAD OF SHIT! He did NOT write that song when Val was pregnant! See LWAN (1986)

  • WOW!

He is in his greatest form right here!

  • Eddie sounds so much better when he's running straight through the amp with no effects. I hope, someday, EVH and the boys release 1984 through Van Halen III with no harmonizer wrecking his natural tone.

  • The "guest" player in this video is my friend Damir Simic Shime. For anyone interested, his youtube channel ID is: dsimic

  • "that guy" as you reffer to him , is not some random lucky guy that got to play infront of eddie , he is actually one of the best guitarist i know of , with a tone that will make you shit bricks , so give more respect plz :)

  • @McTvrdi "a tone that makes you shit bricks"? Damn, i never should have bought that bottle of Miralax :)

  • THIS is the Edward I know and love...humble, gracious, and a warm hearted guy with mad guitar skillz. Just to think in 7 short years from here he would stumble into the room, telling everyone to fuck off while he embarrassed himself playing like he had epilepsy. Drugs are bad mmmm kay?

  • The most influencial player after JIMI, that´s a fact!

  • @ThePreciousguitar87 The most important and influential....EVH. PERIOD!

  • that guy is fuckin lucky

  • I Have Luv'd Everything Edward Van Halen Has Done For 35 yrs,..Now I Will Say This Edward Can't Even Play His Own Shit Anymore, and He Just Looks Tired!! Sorry Just Saying,..

  • @bongnbud I think you'll change your mind in a few weeks...just wait, and you'll be blown away

  • @evander5150 Really,...Do You Know Long I've Been Hearing That Same, Lame Speech?? In A Few Week's I'll Msg You Back,.Then You Can Give Me The Latest (b.s.) Note Date: July 6, 2011.

  • ok

  • you the Man Eddie I dare anyone to Top this Video nice, clean,Sober what more could you ask for in him.

  • Great tone as always!

  • He was with Peavey in 96

  • Eddie rules! A real inspiration for all the others!

  • You are right. Fuzzy video and my mind was fuzzy. Year and single knob give it away. They all look about the same and what I was getting at is eddie's, their quest for the perfect guitar continues to this day. The issues with the bars then and still here now. Ive tried all the tricks, added a 3rd spring to the fld rose and it still is unreliable. The 2010 is one of my favs to play but I do not even use the bar unless I am goofing around. Local g tech says its a common problem with the new ones.

  • @JIMJAMSC If a Floyd Rose is not "reliable" it's the user, not the unit. I've been using Floyd Roses for years and if you set it up properly, there shouldn't be an issue. I find, however, that the Gotoh design which are used in both the EBMM guitars and the Peaveys are more mechanically stable and sonically appealing than the "Original Floyd Rose" trems. The OFR's are well made but Gotohs really have taken the design to a new level.

  • Watch the vid and you will see at least 2 reasons why the first thing I do is put straplocks on my guitars. $15 bucks to prevent a drop out and damaging a 3 grand guitar. I see the Wolfgangs did not stay in tune then and still do not to this day. I have a 2010 USA Fender Tobacco that the B and G wander off just enough to sound harsh. In the vid Ed also has this issue.

  • @JIMJAMSC i may be wrong cos not that anal. But i don't think the Fender Wolfgangs were made in 96. Wasn't he still using music man back then.

  • And look at Adnoydall there, in the front row, drool bib on, mannequin date , and a bag of cheezies...what a tool. EVH is God

  • so wolfgang guitars come in 1996 , now we are 2011 , took too many time for money....NOW ITS TIME FOR NEW ALBUM EDDIE!!!

  • Joe Satriani is so much better than EDDIE is a no brainer

  • @liquidbend In 100 years, who is going to be remembered? Music is not a competition though and both guys like and respect the hell out of each other but let's face it before Van Halen, Sammy Hagar was a clown and made generic-sounding shit and after he left... "Mas Tequila"??? LOL!!! Chickenfoot is total generic shit and Satch's playing is great but it's nowhere near as creative as Balance or the stuff before with Hagar. Satch can out-noodle Eddie but he can't out-riff him. Now way, no how!

  • @liquidbend Stupid comment. It it weren't for Eddie, Satriani would never have gotten a record deal. I love Satch but he is heavily influenced by Eddie. Listen to Eddie from 1978 and then Satch's Surfing With The Alien CD (1988). It's all Eddie's licks and tricks turned up a notch. Some of you people should actually listen and know something about when people did what before you make assumptions - or try to show everyone how much you know when you actually show how little you know.

  • @liquidbend I stand by my comments. So you're a big Satch fan. So am I. I have all his and EVH albums. I don't care when they were born. Satch does what all musicians do, beg, borrow and steal from the people that influenced them. Satch took Eddies licks and did them his own way. All Im gonna say is there was no tapping, octave harmonics and the other stuff Ed is famous for in the rock vein before Ed came along. He is a pioneer, Satch is not - as much as I love him.ED is top 5 JS top 10.

  • I mean I heard better guitar playing at my local guitar center.......

  • Ed is such an awesome guy, so down to earth....WHEN HE'S SOBER!!! I'm glad he's cleaned his act up, he looks great now!! Thanks for everything, Ed, you've got no idea how much your music means to people!! EVH is GOD!!!

  • And the first thing that guy plays when EDWARD VAN HALEN lets him on stage to play.....is a TAPPING RIFF. Like....am I the only one who finds that lame as hell?

I'm a huge Eddie fan but the LAST thing I'd do if I was in front of him is play like him or try to play like him with the tapping and shit.

  • @TheHockeyCentral Oh yeah its something id have never done in front of eddie. LOL. even tho im a clone of his style LOL. id have just played some jazz chords and 9ths LOL. No tapping licks of his, id have just played some of nunos! lmao

  • This is the Edward I grew up admiring and hanging off every note. You see that smile and that gift of music in these ten minuets. Hagar even mentions in his book that there is this quality about him you cannot help but like him and his slap you on the knee during a laugh good buddy humour. Drugs and Alcohol really take their toll on people but you can see here who eddie really is.

  • Thank you for this very nice video. Eddie is the best on the planet.

We'll see him soon on the road !

  • Thank you for reposting This

  • THIS is the Eddie we all know and love. Just jamming and having a great time. No drugs, no hangups. . .just pure music.

  • what kind of idiot would STOP video taping him?!

  • very nice.

  • Now we know why he used the eyehooks instead of strap buttons. ;)

  • Humans Being !

  • EDDIE FLIPPEN' ROCKS! \m/(>.<)\m/

  • I miss Eddie

  • One of Ed's brief sober periods. A likable guy...

  • The interaction between Eddie and the crowd is GREAT.

  • FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
