Man, am I happy to find you champcar4ever! I know I'm going to burn many hours watching your uploaded videos. These mid-1980's races were fantastic. What depth of driving talent. And the best looking Indycars of any era. I also like the mid-1980's F1 cars as well :)

I always liked "Jacques the Elder." I wonder how he's doing or if he's still racing? I seem to recall he had a bad snowmobile wreck a few years ago.
@wildcatactual Ya I do remember him having that snowmobile accident. I think he started racing again after a few months. Anyway, glad you like the videos and hope you enjoy watching them.
I counted 31 cars on the start ... Giant crowd, giant grid, great track, great racers ... We'll never see anything like that ever again ... Indycar is truly dead
Been to RA 20+ times, live right in town there. Greatest track in the world. I hope Indy comes back there soon, I played the National Anthem with our hs band for the last CART race there in 2007. I miss the indy racing, they better come back.
I'm kinda surprised they didn't make a big deal about his nephew winning his first IndyCar race here in 1994. I remember watching that race, and I even have it on VHS still, and I don't remember one word being mentioned about it.
thanks for putting this on here. that was the first race i ever went to at the ripe ol age of 3 years old. and the only thing i remember was bein pissed cause i was wondering when it would be my turn to drive. i was a dumb kid
Road America is a truly awesome course for just about any kind of racing. I wish TG would figure that out and put it on the IRL schedule. I also wish Bernie would figure that out and bring the USGP there, but don't hold your breath for that, since it's "too far from where the action is" (as opposed to Indy, the cultural capital of the U.S.)
If F1 were to ever race there they'd wind up replacing the Carousel with a 2nd gear chicane in the interest of safety...it's simply "too much racetrack" for the ridiculously large performance envelope of a modern F1 car.
I'd rather Road America remain unsullied...but, yes, IndyCar should be there now.
It's true, but it would be more worthy than the Indy road course, which was basically just one big chicane (aside from the oval segment). I know it'd never happen, but a guy can dream...
Champ cars aren't much slower than an F1 machine. Difference is the FIA has very strict standards adn the money needed to bring RA up to those standards would be obscene.
I'm all for driver safety but they are on alot of boreing circuits now. If they can race at Spa or Monza they could race here.

@VictorySaber5 Those mid-1980's F1 cars were really nice looking too. Very clean looking compared to today's F1 cars.

@champcar4ever exactly Champcar!

@champcar4ever isn't that the same thing? without racing, society would be a much worse thing. :)

Indy Car can rise again as long as us fans support it and hopefully the people in charge will get proper engines and chassis.

that's not what Montreal lap times said when CART / F1 were sharing the track!
from commercial stand-point it makes more sense to build a new track up to f1 standards than rebuild an old one.

Thanxs champcar, for this awesome vid. Tony you could use this as a template. Cars do spin, and you don't need to have a 9 lap yellow.
