@ComTlancy You're thinking of Star Trek-manufactured phasers. Star Wars blasters have a different scale of settings: Burn, Destroy, and Destroy Him With Awesomeness.
Lucas is awesome, I don't think he would shrink from the smell of carbonized cat...

@Dracopol Turns out the blaster shots featured in the video are set to stun, just like the ones used on Princess Leia.
