  • Cut the guy a break! he was mandated to protect YOUR heritage, so cut your blinding racism too; I mean, it's not like any o' you honkies'd been willin' to patrol in his place, right? (I'm so VERY pale, BTW.)

  • I am not white although I was born in this country, the security officer is in LONDON and still has this attitude, imagine back in his country, he'd probably shoot you lol..

  • nice shoes

  • ur all gimps, start spouting off rule book codes lol

  • His clown outfit gives him special powers.

  • You cant argue with him cos its his train and what he says gos---right? seriously another moron who thinks hes someone important just because he has a uniform on.

  • love how he argues with you, then when you start to beat him in the argument, he then proclaims he doesn't want to argue. Nice one ;)

  • 4.5.1 For safety reasons, on our buses and Underground trains and in our bus and Underground

    stations you must not:

    • smoke

    • use bicycles, roller skates, roller blades, scooters, skateboards or similar equipment - 10 -

    • take flash photographs and/or use a tripod or other camera support equipment

    • use emergency exits except in an emergency or when instructed to do so by our staff.

You may be prosecuted for disobeying these requirements.

  • Why are you so desperate to wind them up anyway??

  • You should really respect that man, because he not only has a hi-vis vest, but a radio as well !!

I'm with stepney on this one. Deportation. Seen these 'security' clowns at Grays, and they just stand there propping a wall up oggling at the young white girls. Serve no purpose whatsover.

  • Never mind traing him DEPORT HIM.....Steve..

  • At least you got a cab ride on sarah siddons

  • 3:43 "Just an electric loco" An extremley rare locomotive!!!

  • Former henchman of Robert Mugabe no doubt

  • Training zero. It has taken a number of years to finally get back to where we all started. If a railway enthusiast is seen as a potential threat what has the world come to. Sit at the end of the runway at Manchester Airport Viewing area - no problems when you are as close to a plane as 30 metres. Blame the managers at the TOC`s.

  • You should of sent them a copy of this video beofre you edited it so they could see what they were like with you. I would also suggest that you get a letter stating that you have been given permission to film and take pictures which will in turn shoot a bullet up the station staff arses who tell you that " you cannot take pictures or film and of the trains." This will then infact shut them up as i have done this myself to cover me if anyone says anything about not being able to do that!

  • Going with South Kenton (I was with the TheCatapultTV)

Your best bet is when they say only take Photo, say you will only take photos, then film when they go away :)

    Fun times...

  • @itgamer100 lolz

  • we got told at south kenton that we weren't allowed to film, only take photots.

    ITS THE SAME STUPID THING!!!!

these staff members are scum, we aren't doing anything wrong, we're just doing what we love ad not hurting anyone in any way.

  • That staff look like arseholes. They seem to think

Camera + Railway Enthusiast + train = Terrorist

In the words of Tears for fears, Mad world. We all seem to live in this paranoia that everyone with a camera falls in any of these categories

    Tourist (Understandable)

    Perverts

    Peadophile

    & Terrorist

The day this paranoia is no more, I'll be a billionaire!!

  • Who the hell do these people think they are.

WE STILL LIVE IN A DEMOCRACY AND WE STILL ARE A FREE COUNTRY.

Taking photos is not a crime.

  • Just seen this for the first time - and I'm simply amazed at the attitude of the underground staff - are both still employed? Those two belong as stewards at a football ground, where their people-handling skills would be acceptable! It seems that transport enthusiasts are now fair game for such cretins. They wouldn't be as "brave" with drunken p***heads or so-called fottball fans, would they? Pleased that that there was an amicable solution at the end.

  • @MrDavros1234 Station and security staff at Upminster are provided by c2c rail, not London Underground.

  • that bloke should be in orange, yellow is not an acceptable colour of high vis for the railway, I bet he doesn't even have a PTS.

  • as you said that guy at 0:58 is a quity good for him, nothing wrong with taking photos.

  • Something like this happened to me at Victoria Station! I asked this guy, where and, from what platform my train was to leave late one evening! He told me to fuck off! To cut a long story short I had a verbal go at him, and was subsequently arrested and charged with racial agrivation! I ended up with a caution!

I'm concidering a membership to the BNP at the moment!

  • @Ripper36068 I applaud you mate.

  • I was last at Upminster station in April 2006 still in my running kit having just come from the finish of the London Marathon using the tube journey as a recovery sit down post race rather than hanging around the finish area in the Mall.

Being from SW Cumbria nothing like this goes on at any of the Cumbrian Coast line or Carlisle stations.

  • The real problem is that rail companies save money by employing cheap staff who they then fail to train properly. Too many 'contract' staff who neither understand railways nor care about what they are doing, because tomorrow the agency may well send them somewhere else.

  • Some people, honestly!

Allow me to take this moment to commend you guys for doing your research; more importantly, for standing up to this ignorant man for his inappropriate behaviour. You remained constructive, which is the important thing (but kudos for slipping out a few smart-alec gestures to him!).

I have suffered such harassment over the years and nothing could make my blood boil hotter than this. I wish I could be even HALF as constructive when approaches like this are made at me!

  • They underestimate us!

  • Look, the best thing is that we scrap ALL trains, rip up the rails, melt 'em down and make MORE cars and busses out of them! Then no more arguments! Problem SOLVED! (to the people with no concept of wry humour, I jest, ok?)

  • at least they sort of apologised with the ride, would of been even better if you got an apology from Dennis :P i see know harm in holding a camera up :P

  • WELCOME to communist Britain! wake up people!!! viva la revolution!

  • @hamer73 Couldn't agree more with you my friend! Read my post above from ripper36068

  • Just don't film end of. Pricks

  • Nice view of D stock floor,

  • Did TFL Come back to you with anything?

  • Wow. You know your rules. He -- they don't.

  • Next stop: The Training Centre.

  • What an arse, You should have told him were to go mate

  • What a fucking arsehole!! Or jobsworth to be a little more polite!! Youre right in saying that there is no law against taking photos on the railways, they are just a couple of cunts mate!!!

  • What a fucking arsehole!! Or jobsworth to be a little more polite!!

  • wow your a dumb ass " I work for network rail I know the rules better than you" your a sad prick

  • this is a dumb stupid black african guy him.

  • yeah you guys wont be calling him a prick if images were taken by terrorists to plan attacks.

  • @hyper10shun Terrorists would more likely take a snapshot on a mobile and wander straight off, NOT stand there with a video camera filming in plain sight !

  • Why don't try mind he's nosey!!!

  • Is nothing a deal with it. What wrong with it???

  • Oh, There is something of your trouble!!!!

  • WOW! That very awesome that train! I haven't seen aboarding before!

  • This actually constitutes harassment.

  • did you complain to the duty manager about this guy?

  • The Flash Photography is to prevent Drivers of approaching Trains being distracted. However if the Platform is Private and not public/crown land then the Landowner can impose a none video/photo taking rule as they see fit using a host of Bylaws. In a similar manner to Shopping Centres.

  • The staff member is scum, sack him and let someone more deserving have the job.

  • What a bunch arseholes

  • did this fool work for london underground or c2c?

  • Bunch of arseholes - the lot of them. Station gimps, areshole driver...I'm a driver on proper railways, and see this sort of nonsense all the time. "DON'T TAKE PHOTO" ? Feck off

  • Section 4.5 of the Conditions of Carriage (as of Sept 2010) says you must not take flash photographs or use a tripod/camera support equipment. Doesn't say you can't photo or video AT ALL on the Underground, though it is probably best to get a free permit from LUL to avoid trouble like this.

  • I recently had difficulty filming on Nottingham Midland Station. I had to go to "the stationmasters" office & ask permission. A young woman of around 21 was there & couldn't grasp why I would want to film trains..! I said "I'm an enthusiast". She then asked what the video was for. I didn't say you-tube..

A spokesman for Great Central Railway Nottingham was recently on BBC Radio Nottingham. Presenter was a smart arse & said "do train spotters still drink Bovril & wear bobble hats!" Prick...

  • Nice battery electric being towed.

  • i did work expecteve at morden station on the northen line and we had a couple of tube spotters wanting to take pics of a few 1995 stocks and we had no troble atall with that

  • IT really takes the piss that there are so many unemployed in this country yet twats like that have jobs and can't even do them. Welcome to UK

  • nice to see security guards acting in the public interest and absolute bigotry - im surprised he didnt call the race card !!

  • These guys in yellow hivis are not undreground staff. Nice to see Seth on the back of that train. Our youngest underground train operator.

  • 0:45 now thats what i call a real guy

  • >.< you should get a flip camera if your filming and how stupid they sure need training cause how come were not allowed to video a flipping train or staff!? stupid worker they should retrain or get out of work

  • It's really really sad the way this country is going. Even in the last 10 years I've noticed it go down hill like this. It's funny how far some people are prepared to go to act like arseholes towards people who are doing nothing wrong and offending nobody. Tragic.

  • i know that gaurd and all the gaurds on c2c they are fucking jobs worth m8 no point in argueing with em cunts people are right they dont know anything about the railways they ride on the trains checking tickets with the railways companys permission just tell em to fuck off i hate fucking contractors

  • Have to feel sorry for Jobsworths sometimes... Rather silly people...

  • @Yownanymous I know I've had this problem before with both BTPs and Rail Staff!

  • I salute you sir

  • retards. security guards at heathrow T5 were also like this when I was photographing aircraft. I stood my ground and was allowed to proceed. Some dont even speak proper english :/

  • Yeah I hate knobs like this, but then you guys could also have been cooler and tried to reason with the guy instead of instantly having a penis size competition about the rules, or whatever you call that argument. Just say "look at that beautiful engine" and try to persuade him, because maybe he just doesn't get why you're there? Ever consider that?

  • He shouldn't be in this fucking country... NO TAKE PHOTO... SPEAK ENGLISH NIGGER!

  • @TheNemestrinus Why not speak his native language better than he speaks English, you equally-ignorant prick.

  • @Saighton Why should I speak his language? If you go to someones country, you should speak the local fucking language. If I were to move to wales, i'd learn welsh. It's polite.

  • @TheNemestrinus My point is you haven't demonstrated a level of language achievement equal to his and you complain about his (relatively good) English? Attack what deserves to be attacked about the guy, which is his jobsworth attitude, but don't attack what doesn't deserve to be, that's just pathetic. Incidentally, you'd have a hard time learning Welsh in Wales with hardly anyone to practice with. The majority don't speak it often/well enough to do so.

  • @Saighton The thing that has pissed me off is that so many immigrants become security guards and law enforcment officers and they seem to think that they have the right to abuse members of the public. Why shoud I, a citizen of a democratic nation, put up with abuse from people who are as far as I am concerned, guests in MY ancestral homeland?

  • @TheNemestrinus best thing you can do is be a better man, a better example, whilst at the same time drawing the line at taking too much shit, really. Most people aren't out to give hassle. Also, perhaps if this guy felt more welcome, he wouldn't overcompensate and try to 'push back'?

  • @Saighton Why should I make him feel welcome? You know, NONE of these countries where our "guests" from outside the EU come from are as welcoming. Infact, most of them have a zero tollerance immigration policy... Try migrating to china, or nigeria :) I have no problem with race or ethnicity, but I have common sense. I know that this country is overcrowded, and immigrants cause a lot of problems. It isn't their fault, it is our governments. We should stand up to the system.

  • @TheNemestrinus your spot on mate, saighton if you like him that much ask him out,ot better still move to where he came from

  • loool

  • see i told you m8 no need to lie about working for network rail thay ask you u show your pass

  • to the guy who emailed me from this site u said sir to that tube driver that you work for network rail when he asked you to present it u couldent and plus u must have permission from the station staff before filming any train or train station on the london underground or national railways i know this m8 i have bein arrested for this and i got a 500 pound fine and 28 days in jail you cannot film on railways with out permission from the rail operator this is for heath ans safety laws

  • London Underground has so many problems of its own. It should sort itself out before picking on harmless enthusiasts. I always carry the Conditions of Carriage with me in case of this station staff bullsh*t. Luckily most of the station staff round where I live are enthusiasts too!

  • goodbye have a nice day!!!what a jobsworth,must of just got of a boat

  • @basfordhall "just got off a boat"? You're an idiot!

  • @phantom3phe why am i an idiot?

  • These guys are so dumb, what is the point of this video?! They were obviously looking for a reaction from the staff Thats why the qutoded "conditions of carriage". whatever! And have you seen the amount of videos on youtube of the underground? Many people film on the tube. These guys were obviously just looking for trouble. Thinking they were being clever. Go find something better to do then wind up underground staff! Sad-o!!

  • @phantom3phe No, they were enthuiasts who got fucked over by staff who think they are the police

Sad-o!!

  • Incopetent control freaks.. the key words here in my opinion. Abuse of dominant position is evidental as well... I've have been in arguments with many security guards and TFL staff because I knew their regulations better than they did themselves.

  • Comment removed

  • @talktalkmodem You obviously know nothing about this topic - I advise you to link me to some official documentation backing up your post.

  • @talktalkmodem You're only not allowed to take photos of police officers, however some little jobsworth nuts are completely addicted to power they don't have.

  • The rule is all the same all over the countries. No Permit is needed if recording of Transportation is not being recorded for commercial or profitable things. It is perfectly legal to record trains for the fun of it and show it to everyone without charge Now A permit is needed if you want to make a commercial out of the footage that was taken

  • I've filmed at Upminster Station before and I'm so lucky I've never met this guy or got into any trouble

  • You can tell he is a jobsworth. You're aloud to film, there is no rule against it. And he has no right to call you and your mates p***ks at 1:00. Lets hope he got sacked after that...

  • loool nice video

  • I heard some guys said there were terrorist at @ 1.23 as in a joking matter... This is the sort of reason why I don't take outside footage of the trains passing by or stopping at the stations etc. But however I sometimes don't get caught. One time in March 2010 I was at Oxford Circus Platform 1 on the Central Line and I just took my phone out and moved the camera lens down then an announcement came on and said go down to Platform 1 for suspicious behavior.

  • your basic nigerian jobsworth!

  • It truly amazes me all they wanted to do was watch a train leaving. And they get is all this crap.

Its this kind of pathetic 'security issues' that really makes my blood boil, railway enthusiasts are not a Clear and Present danger. Well done for not swearing at them, and holding your cool.

Frankly I'm fuming over this and i'm a lot older!

  • London Underground allows tourists and rail enthusiasts to take pictures and videos while passing through a station however flash and tripods are not allowed. Anyone that wants to take pictures and videos for more than 15 minutes at a station has to obtain a permit from the London Underground Film Office.

  • Don't forget they cannot take your film away nor delete your files . The police can search you and your kit but again are forbidden to confiscate or destroy film and files. When challenged always be polite but refuse to hand over your property. If things get nasty take the persons name and number in case you may have a case to take them to court.

  • See I understand I've had exactly the same problems at Stevenage and Ealing BDY plus at Harrow on the Hill by a BTP Officer. At Ealing I had to go in an office at the back to sign in and at Stevenage I was told off by the bloody station manager, and if that was'nt enough I was bullied by a pair of teenage girls and a man who said I was a terrorist! So why do you have to bully me when I get enough of it from normal members of the public. Do you get picked on too because I understand!

  • Im Platform Staff at London Victoria, photography is permited but MUST NOT be flashed photography inorder not to distract train crew or platform staff or taking pics of any security cameras and stuff but trains are fine. I still approach people taking pictures but only to make sure that it is the trains they are looking at and once I know they are ok to continue. Stupid security guy learn your job and target the real yobs who piss and grafiti trains and platforms bloody knob.

  • What is the yellow carriage all about?

  • @W1JL its a battery loco

  • its a simple one, the guys should be able to film, the driver should be able to have his wife in the cab. easy.

  • I acutally go to Upminster once a week until April and I havn't seen that useless security guard.

  • If I was in that uncomfortable postioned, I would've just snapped and hit one of them in fright. I've got asperger's syndrome you see and these situationsmake me feel frightend if I was in that situation like you did. But I must say, congratulations for showing that security bloke that he wasn't following the bullshit. I liked the way you said "Have a nice day to him" in a attitude.

  • so how is then that there are so many tube and train videos on you tube then?

and how do so many tourests get away with i, you never see them asking permission. After all its only a bloody video

  • I'm not aware of a law that says video recording is not permitted unless given permission to do so. Under UK law an individual can do anything provided that it is not proscribed by law. This is called negative liberty.

  • @nasu147 "video recording is not permitted unless given permission to do so" is factually incorrect as far as UK law is concerned. In the UK you can do anything provided that it is not proscribed by law.

  • It's a shame c2c and LUL didn't see it like that, as there rules both state you can take photographs and film, as was stated again in the letters from both companies I got after this incicdent.

  • @gavelex loooooool you guys are legends, and its true LUL hasnt said anything about recording and photo taking. I was just laughin my ass off at that guys fresh caribbean accent looooooooool

  • If they can't do the job properly, they should#nt get the job. Some of them are really annoying bastards

  • f*ckin jobsworths... the amount of times i've encountered pricks like this.. drives me mad

  • @runtinsweet you should never be allowed into any other country

  • @Rebelconformist82 Get out of my country!

  • So the deal was the guy was pissed off cuz the lads were filming? Seriously?

  • quality staff lol

  • Authoritarian bastards ! what on earth is happening here?If he has his wife in his cab mate report the bastard.

  • Interesting. Its funny that i was once stopped by police for taking photos/videos and they told me that what i was doing was perfectly legal and they were happy that i was taking an interest in transport. Remembering that this was at Stratford Bus station at about 4pm where there were far more people about. Although that man wouldnt loose his job, reporting this to TFL may be a good idea.

  • At the beginning of this train video that black member of the underground staff makes no sense can he not speak better like us in english looks like he might have to go to college and learn to speak better rather than saying "Go to platform 1 for permission." That is no sense at all. I'd rather say to him you are not making any sense at all you are out of your mind. Have you made a complaint about him.

  • think you'll find that black member of staff you refer to works for the c2c and not the underground.

  • What an idiot. Honestly, trainspotters like the railway, so why are they going to vandalise it or blow it up?

  • @WrongRoadRailways Thats what I think as well. Trainspotters and I are not terrorists!!! We just come to stations and film or take photos of trains because we have a enthiusaism with trains.

  • @JoeRoss1993 I Know.

I Like Them As Well, So Why Do Staff Pull Us Away From Them?!?!? D:

  • LOL "Hallo Dennis (The Menace!)"

  • mate you should take this up with national rail or further more DfT as what they have done is more then braking the law in many sections! they should compensate you for interupting your journey under unessesery circumstances. it just goes to show how pothetic and inconsiderate staff and TOC's are becoming to a stress free harmless hobby that causes no interuptions to any of there operations. Train enthusiasts are a trademark to rails worldwide so why are they becoming so pothetic n unreasonable!

  • @CrossCountryTrainz Probably because of the terrorist threat. And I think it's pathetic as well.

  • Ignorant git

  • well done justice at last 4 train spotters lol

  • shameful

  • what time was this?

  • I'll feel a bit uncomfortable and scared if I was in that situation.

  • If you have a valid ticket and it isn't for commercial purposes, and you aren't using flash photography or taking pictures of CCTV cameras photography is allowed. You do not need 'passes' or 'authority'. We do not live in a totalitarian state!

  • my youtube friend... already on it!

  • Dont you just love these clowns. Another escapee from gene pool Im sorry for all the good staff who are helpfull, show one round stations and trains to get a good shot. How do they work with people who dont have any understanding of railways. It must be a job he hates , and probably people also. What is wrong with being NICE to people who are nice, intelligent and articulate. If there was an incident their film could be priceless and they are smart enough to use it . Get out of here!!!

  • This security guard should have sat on the roof, as he clearly had ideas above his station. It was obvious the 'filmers' were non-violent individuals, which is probably why this nonsensical discussion ensued. Had it been a neanderthal group of thugs with 'I am a bastard' tattoed on their foreheads, this conversation would not have occurred. It's a classic case of security staff boredom along with a reaction to being generally ignored by members of the public, so the filmers are not to blame.

  • I'm a driver based at Upminster and regularly see that security guard standing on the platform ignoring bigger and harder passengers smoking, drinking and urinating. Perhaps he saw an easy target in these young harmless teens. He is a bully and a coward.

  • Well i dont know the man personally but i often travel to Upminster on your trains. You seem a bit sarcastic in your comments cos I understand these same guys assist you to get diffcult and drunk passengers off your trains. So why this much hate just be ause of some photography. Pls take it easy mate.

  • These guys don't assist in detraining anymore, they just stand on platform 1 and watch. There is no hate, I was pointing out that this security guard is a bully.

  • Why would a train enuthusiast be working for a terrorist, suspicious activity would give that away.

It is people that film graffiti damage on trains, that enforce the need to tell staff about taking video and photos in my eyes and the glorify their work on YouTube.

  • Yes that is correct, but I can see why they are becoming hostile, especially as it is such a harmless activity!

That is why I made a point of saying that it is appreciated if they got permission from an employee.

  • That chap with the orange bib is a fucking legend.

Big up you two as well.

  • guard: there's some blokes taking pictures...

man in bib: I'M A DRIVER!!!!!!

  • You seem to have forgotten the fact that the security guards were not doing there job properly.

How do you know my friend did have his pass on him but just didn't show it? They would have just written down his name and tried to get him in trouble...

  • To be honest, the man was just behaving like a moron, you guys wern't causing any harm.

I work at a South London Station, I welcome the presence of you guys.

  • Security guards are usually from an external company that are employed by a train company, they're not official employees of the railway.

They usually have their training with there own company and not the railway company themselves!

It is a bit like car park attendants that work at train stations.

  • I am sorry to see that you have encountered individuals with a misunstanding of filming on the railways.

The drivers' on my company welcome your presence as long as you do not take any flash photographs.

There does appear to be confusion over new laws on terrorism on the railway since 7/7.

As long as you make one station employee aware that you wish to film at the station and why you're there, then that is you guys covered.

You guys do not need to seek any official permission.

  • Some staff like to abuse their power and unfortunately, this is not uncommon.

It makes me rather annoyed, because you guys act as an extra pair of eyes for any railway crime, whether that be graffiti or anti social behaviour.

  • Thanks its good that you have said that

  • Oh for goodness sake, these guys are only train enthusiasts, doing nothing wrong.

I actually encourage there presence at my station to particularly at evenings when we get anti social behaviour and the occasional graffiti vandal!

  • 10 quid says that power gives them wood!. These guys must get their kicks from sumwhere!

  • Ive just noticed that C2C's correct comeback was shown very slow. Bit biased

  • Not really, If you want to read it then pause it.

  • Thats what I had to do. Put it this way he was in the wrong, and so was everyone else in the situation. The only people who were in the right where yourselves and the C2C replyer.

  • And London Underground with there apology and "gesture of goodwill" letting us ride on Sarah inside the loco on the return trip!

  • Was it actualy London Underground who let you have the bash or the guys who were driving it "on the sly" as it were?

  • The District line's LSM (Line Standards Manager)

  • Oh cool, good on you!

  • Well done for standing up to them. I have had no trouble as yet, but I'm sure I will at some point. National Rail apparently welcome enthusiasts to all their stations/trains.

  • You talked too much, responding to the interogation. You should of just ignored the questions, in fact you should of just ignored the staff by saying " I disagree" then you should of just continued on your way. Remember you can do anything provided it is not prohibited by law, not company policy, law.

  • yep, exactly

company policy only restricts the employees of the company, not normal people like us

  • God he really wants to have power!

  • i like the train that goes past at 1.50

  • typical jobsworth, take a lot of photos and sometimes get people who make up the rules as they go along

  • deeper shade of soul-ye-ah

  • eerie to see London so quiet!

NO mention of the driver breaking the rules via allowing his wife in the drivers cab.

    Disgraceful.
