on the right straight/cross counter make sure you angle to the outside of his right (in this instance), preferably with footwork, so u dont get decked with the left hook, which will undoubtedly follow if the guy is good.
fuck some of this stuff is helpfull especially if you dont train at like a pro gym and they just teach basics and re-enfore them over and over again then branch out a little, ive praticed a lot of this stuff in the mirror and used in it sparring, and is just gives such an edge at a very amertuer levell, alought it always helps to have a reach advantage which i have against most people i sparr
im a fighter that was well demonstrated, perfect tec for countering a 3(left hook)remember to make sure your shoulders back to get the max out of the 2(cross,straight right)
Are you serious with this? You aren't even rotating your hips or shoulders with these counters! I would let you arm punch me all day! When demonstrating a technique I hope that you do it properly in the future!
im nt much of a fighter..gt a couple of fight meself and ill tell ya..each fights varies..so much in fact you dnt get to think..so shadow boxing helps..it becomes textbook..gtta work on that speed..hes fast
quick question for anybody who knows about boxing, cause im not to savy yet.... when blocking hte hook, wouldn't it be easier to just throw a left uppercut?
@GriffinAmongOceans hypothetically yes. In a real fight however *and i'm telling you this from both ring fights and street fights* the opponent will almost never let you get that close. You will notice that in a fight when you hit hard the opponent will always get back, and so will you. So it's basically just a matter of reach. Also, when your fist is unprotected, you could do an uppercut with the heel of your palm, that should solve the reach problem and prevent accidents.
What would be best is to parry the Jab with the right hand, and shot a Jab back. Or parry the Jab with the right hand and throw a left hook off of it. That will interrupt the 1-2-3 combination, and that is kind of like the standard "boxing" way of doing it. Simple, but effective.
I like Dr. Yamasaki's parry the Jab, outside slip the Cross, and liver shot. That would work, especially if your opponent has "gaps" in between punches, but it is more of an advanced technique.
at 1:30 he did notice that he doesnt even have to fake em he is leaving this guys right hand completely open u just given your opponents open right hand shots???
No one will throw a jab at you that you can block/counter like this. Even the dude your filming with has covered hiding the chin with your shoulder. And sway away from the jab and then follow up! When you hit his hand hes nerveouse system will automaticly sense that the jab is over and if hes the least bit good at any punching he will retract his arm. so don´t give him any stops and counter when he does not hit you cos you sway and make him off balance and then counter..!! My thoughts...!
In real life you cannot due any of that to a boxer maybe a street brawler not even,a boxer doesn't even have to faint ,Jabs are fast and if you try blocking it by using that speed bag counter move you will leave yourself open for a clean hook and be knockout.
i have seen this move being used in the ring in many fights of mike tyson and ufc number 116 where lesnar fights carwin, carwing actually catches brock's jab and counter attacks beautifully, you cuold say lesnar is unexperienced boxer but he's still the champ no?
maybe in this video its looks effective probably because everyone know whats going on but In real life how would you know what punches your opponent will throw?it might work at the later round when everyone is tire punching slow. You cannot expect just to do that,I'm trying to be realistic.Brock is a champ yes but due to his weight advantage,Carwin may have lost due to conditioning but he is also newer than Brock and even size for Brock, look what happened to lesnar in the first round
my real point is i often read comments from misguided people who think that only 'bad boxers' jab stepping into, which is total bullshit, i've seen the stepping jab being used by great fighters.
you have a good point i realize, but i think it's best to know these moves anyway, the only alternative here is not learning it, but you have nothing to lose if you do, no one forces you to use it, but you might find it useful someday
I use to go to the boxing gym when I was younger before mma was introduced from my experience non of what the guy was showing would work boxers are just too fast and its their job to be fast,I'm assuming what the guy is demonstrating is probably for mma only coz boxing and striking in the cage totally different .if anyone can benefit from this video then that's great.
This is a good technique, but as the guy said, you can only use it against careless fighters who move in too far with their jab. Thanks for making the vid and keep up the good work.
look at the video "dirty boxing jens pulver" here on youtube, he teaches you to walk in as you punch, i guess jen's pulver is a crappy fighter huh????
also that's what vitor belfort did to destroy wanderlei silva back in 1999, you probably too young to remember ;) but you just have to know when to step forward with your jab and when to stand still, even jab as you walk backward like benny urquidez, and cross/overhand while you backtrack like pedro rizzo
in a street fight once u perry once you should try to end the fight there man no need to perry and only hit the guy with a cross or something do jab jab hook quickly if do this off of a perry the guy is basically done because those were all dead on hits i got suckered punched like this before in a real setting and trust me i was out in like three four hits
These moves should not be used against an experienced boxer or muay thai fighter. Normally when a striker jabs with their leading hand they stand back and utilize their reach. When someone goes within "clinch range" you will probably be knocked out by a right cross.
@TheMuaythaistriker Ive seen Boxers do that straight right counters like this before.. most notable is James Toney where he rolls the shoulder and comes back with the straight right hand. watch for yourself youtube james toney straight right Or also Mayweather does the jab straight right counter except instead of tapping it he just pulls back.. same concept though you tube pull counter mayweather
@TheMuaythaistriker yeah very true this move should probably never be used. when bringing down the hand your not utilizing kinetic energy anymore becuase now your hand is too close to your opponent and the lack of distance will fade its power making this punch useless. unless your using it to set up but then thats what a jab or a fake jab is for.
great tips, but i find personally when going live as opposed to throwing the speed bag counter i like to parry with the right and counter with a left roundhouse to the midsection making sure to step out of punching range when i throw the kick
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Here's some advice if you get in a fight on the street.. 1, try to avoid it without showing fear.. fear is like showing your cards in a poker game and you will get pwned by the other donk trying to prove himself. He's nervous too, and if you show it you're fucked cuz it makes him feel more at ease.. rule 2.. short straight punches, heavy punches only when you have him stunned.. rule 3.. if you're better at wrestling, throw a jab to distract, rush in and take him down and pound him.. cheers.
the problem with stopping the strike this way is that the person on the left will fake the jab and go for something else while the defense on the right side is completely down.
i've watched a few videos, i'm a little bit confused, is brandon the coach or is brian the coach? or are you both coaches? anyway very nice videos, keep it up.
this is .. hard to follow on youtube :L
it's slight help to improve , but not really..
