  • I would like to point out. As a resident of NOLA, though I'm only 21, I have been attending Mardi Gras since I was six weeks old. I also rode in Mardi Gras for a about 6 years, and I plan to do it again. Mardi Gras is still family oriented. I love tourists for visiting and stimulating the New Orleans economy each year, but they are the ones leading y'all to believe Mardi Gras is a "trash" festival. In the French Quarter, tourists look for any excuse to expose themselves and be drunk in public.

  • What a difference 50 years makes. Very sad to see it look so family friendly, only to know what it has become today.

  • Trash Festival:

    New Orleans' #1 Dirtiest American City in June 2011 Travel and Leisure.

    Philadelphia #2--"New Orleans of the Northeast";

    New Orleans "the Philadelphia of the South."

  • What a difference from the trash festival that Marti Gras has now become.

  • @ 2:02 is that Earl Long and Blaze Starr?!

  • That really looks family friendly...especially when you compare it to what's on the news and COPS today!!

  • Too cool. Love to see the city in a different time
