There used to be a chat group called atheist anonymous. It was taken down years ago when we lost our server. It had people from all over the world. The anonymous part refered to the fact that many people coming to the board had just realized that they were atheists and were shy about letting others know who they were.

What I will say is that I consider myself to be an artist as well: an aspiring visual storyteller. The stories I mean to tell are the stories of real life and real people. And so I love to hear each and every side of an argument, as I believe they each deserve an equal voice. So thank you for filling me in! And this is the creed which I think atheism generally adheres to: a very open one that favors logic and reason over force and "brainwashing". And so I am in awe of you. And I admire your forthrightness, your creativity, your resolve.

You are also organized, calm and deliberate in your delivery. In other words, you express yourself - your opinions, your emotions - in a way that conveys your passion for your stance, yet you never raise your voice or get offensive. You don't ATTACK any one religion (or religion in general). You merely present your argument clearly and creatively and allow your viewers to judge for themselves.
And that is why the video makes such an impact, and why her video's seem to cause so much hatred from Christians, which I find interesting considering the philosophy of the religion itself.
I too am aware that, at least here in America, you atheists are an overwhelming minority and you take heat from just about everyone ALL THE TIME!!! This is why I greatly admire your videos. I think you would be a fitting representative for atheists, in that you are capable, creative, insightful, articulate, and seemingly trustworthy ("seemingly" because you're human - and you know they can't be trusted ALL the time! This factional sentiment I do not admire.... I am also aware of the many grave injustices made to the people of society in the name of religion (e.g. the dilemma presented in your Rupert the Knight vid *wink*) When a human is barred from acting according to his genetic makeup (according to his nature!) by the code of some belief that he or she may not adhere to, well, this is a tragedy.
This fervent factionalism is not shared by the atheist community. Quite the contrary, as I learned from another informative video on this site, atheism is completely open to ALL possibilities as long as definitive PROOF can be provided to back up the claims of the religious zealots. This proof, however, has yet to be produced, and it is quite clear that it likely never will be.
...I don't understand OTHER people's motives for believing in their deities/cosmic forces...but I understand MY motive. Yes, I am a person of faith. You might want to take your own advice. I'd love to see you explain why 'cocksucker' and 'whore' are appropriate insults. I don't consider either of them offensive. atheism is mildly arrogant. atheism takes just as much faith in religion. i personally reject both as i am agnostic. It makes much more sense to simply admit that I do not know.

Abolutely no form of Atheism requires faith, there is always non-subjective supporting evidence to substantiate what an atheist accepts as true. The only time people claim it takes faith is when they dont understand the atheists choice or why.
So, can you give me an example of a "leap of faith" that an Atheist takes?
There is a principle in engineering (and the rest of science for that matter) that the universe is constantly decaying to disorder. The principle is called entropy, its used in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and other sciences which use energy balances. that being said there is a mind boggling amount of order in nature, from our DNA, to our brain function, to our most minute biological structures. Now I understand that its easy to stand at a certain vantage point and wonder about the odds....
You obviously dont understand what entropy is. Its not a "decaying to disorder" its a return to the natural state of matter FROM disorder. For example, a pile of rubble on the ground is the 'natural state' of a brick wall, the brick wall IS disorder.
Secondly, there is not a "mind boggling amount of order" in nature. If you truly understood biological processes you would know that the examples you provided are perfect examples of why there ISNT order in nature.

Some net sum of zero which we must all return to. If you believe in the concept of cause and effect that can only lead to the logic that there is an infinite existence to the universe. Whatever explanation they have for the big bang, some superuniverse collision or whatever they want us to believe, the logical next question, is what started the stuff that started that. One may conceive either the ignition, or infinite existence to be god. Who is to say? A yes or no answer is beyond comprehension
Thats a cop out, The answer is not beyond comprehension. By the same supposition one cannot say an unchanging God existed for an infinite amount of time then suddenly decided to create for no apparent reason, something must have 'triggered' that desire just as something 'triggered' the Big Bang. The difference is still evidence, the Big Bang has it, religion does not.
The Big Bang only needs a single particle collision to begin and spallation would result in an exponential growth.

I'm fully respect and support Atheism as a code of ethics, but I don't agree with it as a belief system. I believe that there must be SOMETHING that caused existence. I believe that there's something we don't know, but I don't pretend to be aware of its nature, and I don't pretend to know what happens to us after we die.
Atheism is not a code of ethics, nor is it even a belief system. Atheism is, literaly, no belief in god. It implies absolutely nothing else.

The difference between "not believing" and "believing not" is purely semantic. Both are Atheist because they are a-theistic (without religion...istic).
Agnostics are in a somewhat separate category and there is no set definition. You can be agnostic AND Atheistic. They are not mutually exclusive.
An agnostic would be best described as "on the fence." Agnostics may be open to the idea, but unconvinced, or simply uncertain.
Atheists simply find the idea ridiculous or don't even think about it.

My point was there is no Atheist code of ethics; no "big book of Atheism" that tells us right from wrong.

I.E if a God were to exist, and be proven to exist by every means of science we know of, an Atheist would still DENY that god exist.
What you are looking for is Agnosticism.

Oh, forgot to mention. Don't use the kids pocket dictionaries. Get one that covers all terms and definitions. Most childrens dictionaries only contain the most commonly used definitions for words with multiple meanings in context as determined by school boards made up of parents and teachers.

Alot of Religion is like that. That's how they work. I remember, the first Scilon I came across on Youtube was a "You are Sooo sued" scilon threatening everyone who even watched that paticular video. After sueing me and taking every cent I had, he offered to "Fix" me. Isn't that nice of him.
All Religions basically claim there's something wrong with you and then claim they can help. It's like stabbing someone and then selling them bandaids.

I would agree slightly with strong atheism.
However weak atheism is simply saying that the default is disbelief until proven. It does not take much faith to say that you do not believe that there is an invisible pink unicorn, yet there is no way to actually know.
Of course I do not know, but I see no reason to believe, therefore I do not believe.

Strong atheism could be constrewed as arrogant but not atheism itself.
There is a difference between a choice that is tenable, and a choice that is a supposition; evidence.
Abolutely no form of Atheism requires faith, there is always non-subjective supporting evidence to substantiate what an atheist accepts as true. The only time people claim it takes faith is when they dont understand the atheists choice or why.
So, can you give me an example of a "leap of faith" that an Atheist takes?

There is a principle in engineering (and the rest of science for that matter) that the universe is constantly decaying to disorder. The principle is called entropy, its used in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and other sciences which use energy balances. that being said there is a mind boggling amount of order in nature, from our DNA, to our brain function, to our most minute biological structures. Now I understand that its easy to stand at a certain vantage point and wonder about the odds....

You obviously dont understand what entropy is. Its not a "decaying to disorder" its a return to the natural state of matter FROM disorder. For example, a pile of rubble on the ground is the 'natural state' of a brick wall, the brick wall IS disorder.
Secondly, there is not a "mind boggling amount of order" in nature. If you truly understood biological processes you would know that the examples you provided are perfect examples of why there ISNT order in nature.

it took to get there, but when the odds defy human comprehension you gotta stop and think. I understand that if something cannot be proven then its hard to testify to. God can neither be proven or disproven but our existence and the complexities of nature might be some offering of circumstantial evidence. I don't believe in any kind of anthropomorphic, omnipotent individual, but maybe its something else. Maybe God is one big conservation law.

Furthermore, complexity is not "evidence" of anything, everything naturally complex is build upon a seemingly infinite collection of very simple components.
You cannot say that there must exist something even more complex to explain something less complex i.e. a painting is evidence of a more complex painter. That would make God infinitely complex, which only serves to make him even less likely.

Some net sum of zero which we must all return to. If you believe in the concept of cause and effect that can only lead to the logic that there is an infinite existence to the universe. Whatever explanation they have for the big bang, some superuniverse collision or whatever they want us to believe, the logical next question, is what started the stuff that started that. One may conceive either the ignition, or infinite existence to be god. Who is to say? A yes or no answer is beyond comprehension

Thats a cop out, The answer is not beyond comprehension. By the same supposition one cannot say an unchanging God existed for an infinite amount of time then suddenly decided to create for no apparent reason, something must have 'triggered' that desire just as something 'triggered' the Big Bang. The difference is still evidence, the Big Bang has it, religion does not.
The Big Bang only needs a single particle collision to begin and spallation would result in an exponential growth.

I'm fully respect and support Atheism as a code of ethics, but I don't agree with it as a belief system. I believe that there must be SOMETHING that caused existence. I believe that there's something we don't know, but I don't pretend to be aware of its nature, and I don't pretend to know what happens to us after we die.

Atheism is not a code of ethics, nor is it even a belief system. Atheism is, literaly, no belief in god. It implies absolutely nothing else.
Atheism is word just like Asynchronus, or Abiotic.
Any commonalities Atheists may have with one another are simply coincidental or due to shared interests or reasoning.
Atheism is simply "not theism."
That said, you are certainly welcome to hold whatever beliefs you want. I only take issue with having belief forced on me. You don't seem like that type.

As I understand it, Atheism is the belief that there is no God, not just "no belief in God." I think "no belief in God" is more like Agnosticism.

The difference between "not believing" and "believing not" is purely semantic. Both are Atheist because they are a-theistic (without religion...istic).
Agnostics are in a somewhat separate category and there is no set definition. You can be agnostic AND Atheistic. They are not mutually exclusive.
An agnostic would be best described as "on the fence." Agnostics may be open to the idea, but unconvinced, or simply uncertain.
Atheists simply find the idea ridiculous or don't even think about it.

There is no unifying factor of Atheists. Being an Atheist is very much like having O positive blood or brown hair: just because someone else does too doesn't mean you have anything in common. You just happen to share a trait with them.
Ethical, stylistic, or scientific beliefs Atheists have in common are no different: coincidence.
