  • STOP!......HAMMER TIME!

  • Watched this when I was a kid it scared the poo out of me. Todays horror is just gore and big tits.

  • @manweller1 I agree. I saw that Film Piranha. It's was disgusting soft core porn, so young boys can have a wank in the Cinema.

  • Why is there no pt13, 15, 16, 17 time waster!

  • Todays most gory films are not creepy, yet these with their sets, music and lighting, and of course our minds, send shivers up our backs, its called craft which is lost on today's horror film makers.

  • @2HonestIam True that.

Nowadays, it's all just extreme gore + topless teens ( not that I mind it lol ) screaming our eardrums out.

  • I love horror movies and i love this one. And you know the actress that did megera wanted to have a full set of snakes for hair instead of a black wig with mechanical snakes

  • Much as I love Hammer films, this one doesn't work very well. They clearly haven't done their research, Megera wasn't one of Medusa's sisters (or a Gorgon at all), to my knowledge she was Hercules's first wife.

  • thanks for the infor will definitly get it!

  • Classic hammer. one of their best.

  • THIS WON'T PLAY PROPERLY

  • Hammer rocked!!!

  • Peter Cushing & Christopher Lee... it can't get any better... O.o

  • Horror novel see video book trailer

  • The name alone sent he here after doing a search of the 1940's classic The Cat People..LOL..

  • No they were called C-L-A-S-S-I-C's. The music was good & the actors showed better expressions & emotions. I'm not saying alot of the ones NOW aren't good but there ARE some actors of 2day that ONLY got the roles cuz they blew the right person. Some of the Horror films now have 2 much special effect's. The only thing that's boring are the new aged cartoons that have characters standing STILL & talking Bull-Shit or jumpimg around with little action & no good background -- or any -- Graphics.

  • This was the first Hammer film i saw.

I was 10 and it was on BBC 2 late one evening, it absolutely terrified me.

I watched it because i was obsessed with Clash of the Titans and i saw the word Gorgon in the title and i immediately thought of Medusa.

I love the gothic majesty of the Hammer films and i really think The Gorgon is one of their best.

I have been watching Mark Gatiss' History of Horror documentary on BBC 4 and his piece on Hammer was very interesting and it reminded me of this film.

  • I saw this when I was 9 and it stuck with me ever since despite having never been re-screened so far as I'm aware. This and Plague of the Zombies transcend even Hammer's own stylish redefinition of the genre. I'd hate to accuse anything so good of being "art", but it comes perilously close. It's sad that few later offerings approached this standard, but at least we've a handful of all-time greats.

  • This chick will make any man stiff.

  • I'm all for getting stoned, but that's ridiculous

  • It would have great if there was a transformation scene in the movie @4:46 showing how the girl turned into a stone statue.

  • My God, the women in these old Hammer films were so sexy.

  • @steveh777ify Ain't that the truth! You should check out the book "Hammer Glamour". It's about all the lovely ladies in the canon of Hammer cinema and has some great pictures in it as well. It's very affordable as well.

  • This film is awesome at midnight in a darkened room with some fresh popcorn.

  • the perfect horror combo...peter cushing and christopher lee. if these two men were in it--it was always good.

  • @livingdeaddude1 Oddly, with Cushing in the Villainous part and Lee the sympathetic one!

  • Man, what a find. I remember taping this off the TV when I was a kid. It was part of a season of Hammer films. I fell in love with the look and style of these old movies and it's never gone away. This is one of the few I haven't got on dvd. Thank you kindly for the upload.

  • A lot of people owe their careers to Hammer Films....and are probably still ungrateful....

  • What happened to part 13?

  • If only my PC was a black and white tv set, it would be as if I was 7 years old again, cowering beneath a blanket, only my eyes showing.

  • amazing ive found this.I was 8 when they used to advertise this film on TV I used to look away can still feel my fear abiout this ,incredible .

  • How can people not love these movies?

  • I feel sorry for the woman killed in the beginning. She was pregnant too! :O

  • i think old movies with the music and darkness was even more scary ,i think the films now lost that touch.

  • @lilgreenthumb1 horror films today still freak me out when the mosnters or something appear very sudden on the screen, makes me jump.

  • This film suffered from miscasting. Peter Cushing would have been better as Meister and Christopher Lee as Nameroff. Barbara Shelly was great. She wanted to play the gorgon herself with a headdress of live snakes.

  • This film suffered from miscasting. Peter Cushing would have been better as Meister and Christopher Lee as Namaroff. Barbara Shelly, however, was great. She wanted to play the gorgon with live snakes on her head.

  • @geinman1287 I think both did their roles very well, but I would rather have seen Shelly opposite Lee. They're a very dynamic pair.

  • I liked the atmosphere in this film. The shadowing they used around the castle and in the forest was creepy. I also like that you can watch films like this w/o worrying about nudity and language. I can't watch any of the modern films because my kids will see and hear that stuff.

  • awesome thanks, another film that I wanted to check out.

  • According to the documentary Flesh and Blood this movie wasnt well received at the time. I think it was an original concept. However, I found the movie to be a bit slow.

  • wtf is this

  • Wow, thank you for uploading!

  • Truth to be told, I think I am anything but sad: on the contrary, I am one very happy camper! D; Ah, Hammer!

  • I thought it Ironic that the 2nd Doctor Who met the Doctor from the theatrical movies. Loved both of em though. This was one of the best Hammer films of all time. One day I hope to see the best of Hammer on DVD. Or at least the best of Peter Cushings.

  • Dear mickety2001-Love your total honesty (about being a little bit sad ,) Truth be known , WE ALL ARE --me deffo included! However if you're really into scarey movies from this era ,try watching ROGER CORMAN,s neat little work --pit and the pendulum, that one kept me in bad dreams for about 3 months (when i was 13.) The Gorgon only scared me for 6 weeks. But I remembered it with relish! --That's why i'm here right now!!!!/ AND I'M 50.!

  • fuck u u pusy bitch ill kick ur ass

  • Never seen this before and I love Hammer films......it's half twelve on a Friday night and I'm alone (sad) and in front of the computer in a darkened room! I'm scared already with this freaky music! Thanks for posting btw.

  • Is there anywhere you can buy this on DVD??

  • This movie was a little slow but its quite entertaining. But what I love about this and other hammer films is the nostalgia and memories it brings back!

  • oh waht a classic! I saw it as a child, almost wet my panties and been searching it ever since. This is a very rare film isn´t it? why come so???

  • awesome movie... one of the best horror movies ever...

  • yeah it really pissed me off when my vhs tape i had of this broke and i never had the money to replace it.

  • A top Hammer

  • This is simply the best Hammer film that was ever made

  • Thanks for posting this movie! I soooo love it and Richard Pasco is cute... well... when he was young!!

  • What did you record this on?

  • Or rather, off of what channel?

  • It's probably from a DVD. Very clean and letterboxed.

  • Maybe. I thought that it was from TV because of the little 18+ thing in the corner.

  • Thanks for 'The Gorgon'.

This is great saw it years ago when i was a kid and it's still fantastic.Barbara Shelley was hot

  • im 18

  • Very good horror film!!!!

  • It's coming to dvd finally in a 4 film set in R1 on October 14th Hammer Films:Icons Of Horror with 'Scream Of Fear'.

  • Yes I saw this finally! That is great news.

  • I love this movie; is there a commercially released DVD available in any region?

    Thanks for posting!

  • AND also 'Curse of the Werewolf', thats awesome with an evil marquis who is cruel as fuck to an old beggar and everyone else -the nasty old fucker !

  • Filthy mouth.

  • Someone stick up 'Brides of Dracula','Evil of Frankenstein' & 'The Reptile' PLEASE !!

  • This was a good film. Saw it back in 2000 on AMC. Thanks for the upload.

  • Oh, Brilliant Lady!!! You see the Gorgon, but manage to turn away in time, because you see she hasn't turned to stone. So what does she do? Turns around for a SECOND LOOK, guaranteeing her being rictified. For a brunette she was a real blonde!

  • Nice copy !

  • Thanks for posting this, nice to see it in widescreen,US needs an R1 dvd release.

  • Pure atmosphere...the music in particular is eerie. Today, every horror movie looks like a video game..

  • great movie!
