Cool. Great. By the way of music I want to show you what musicians of Brazil and Argentina are doing with a accordion. Please see these three videos, including folklore music from south Brazil:
Voninho e Marcelo
Tio Mederico- Dvd Os Serranos 40 anos- Sempre Gaúchos
CHANGO SPASIUK EN FORMOSA KILOMETRO 11 -10/10/2009 (4)
My grandfather Tommy Whelan was a founder member of the Ballinakill Traditional Players...I clearly remember my mum (his daughter) and my uncle Jack Coughlan playing this tune in our kitchen when I was little. Good times!
Carrigdean, what the hell are you talking about? That "messy" playing, as you put it, is melodic variation. Gavin and O'Connor are every bit as good as these two. Listen to Mairtin playing by himself...a total genius!
What? Burke is a great fiddler, but no one plays as sweet as McGann ... McGann has a way of giving the fiddle a "breath" (those little drone notes that he tastefully leaves behind while playing) ... check out the album he did with Paul Brady "It's a Hard Road to Travel", and then tell me there is a better Irish fiddler.
First of all JOE "Accordion" Burke played in NYC for years with ANdy MCGann who was trained by the student of Michael Coleman, Kathleen I forget her last name sorry, but Andy trained Brian Conway so only 4th generation Sligo style and a great step dancer, with a huge range of knowledge about the music. It is amazing to be that some people cannot tell the differences in regional styles Joe is a great instructor of the music
You should all make the effort to go to the Hill in Ballinakill and listen to the music in there ........... Joe Burke country great music around that area
These are two of the many great Fiddle and Button Box players from Ireland. A great CD that Joe Burke, Andy McGann and Felix Dolan did is the one a tribute to Michael Coleman. There are so many great Button Box and Fiddle players both here in America and in Ireland that it is just faboulus.
I know well bud who the fiddle player is. Sean Mcguire is way better then him anyway. I played with Joe and Paddy at different times in Limerick and Dublin...
If a Martian came to Earth and asked me what traditional Irish music was (because of course Martians speak American English) I would show him this very clip. If you don't like this clip, then you don't like Irish music.
Brilliant upload Mike!

The only fiddle player capable of being a partner of Burke is Sean Mcguire....

I thought he was better off paired with Andy McGann.

Andy McGann would be a step down for Burke

This sounds kinda similar to the song in Titanic, it's almost like they got the general tune to it from this. I wonder if any one agrees?
