@westhamboy95 I don't think that's possible because the guy who won is South Korean. It says that he's from PRK which stands for People's Republic of Korea or South Korea. North Korea is Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
Many people get WTF taekwondo and ITF. I disagree with the fact that WTF is pathetic....it isn't. It's quite good and it's the style i do. Many people judge martial arts (especially tkd) whilst it's in the ring. In a ring/competition your objective is to score points not kill and survive so your kicks and other attacks will be different to suppose a fight in the "real" world.
@TACT1CsMAN ITF allows attacks with hands to head and body, along with kicks above the waist. WTF only allows kicks, and punches to the torso. WTF is quite pathetic in reality, but its a great sport.
I agree kinnda with you. But that's because its sport. On the street they would behave alot differently. Here you have to earn points, on the street you only have to score a knock out.
So the battle would include lots more of simple kicks to get him confused and then when close direct punches and elbows.
TKD lacks in protection when hit, but is good for moving from the danger and fast kicks.
I like it. Kinnda my style. It aint for everyone that is true.
Don't know what everyone else is talking about, it is illegal to hit below the belt. If you do, the ref stops the fight, you get a warning and they start again. Happens a few times in the video
ًWhen you're in the arena, you don't see anything around you except your opponent and the referee and you don't hear anything except your panting and your coach shouting tips to you. So, no, at least for me, the crowd is as if it isn't there and their cheering doesn't do anything.
wow now fellas whats all the itf is nk?? tkd is korean general choi was taking tkd world wide and in 1980 he took it to nk its as much english american or swedish as it is nk so chill with the putting it down.millions of people around the world study itf and wtf and next few years the merger will take place were the 2 bodies will work as one,and watch this space olympic wtf will change to itf style sparring
watch alot of pro martial artists and fighters other than boxers, msot dont guard their faces at all, because they have great speed for defense and besides, guarding the face at all times can mess up ones flow in combat sometimes, staying loose with ones arms and then blocking when necessary is more fluid
Here we see the sporting part of TaeKwonDo ITF, which differ from the real combat style but it helps to control certain techniques by use of "mark with moderated contact" style. TKD ITF is quite flexible and incorporates techniques from TaeKyon, certain styles of Karate and Kung Fu plus the own ones.
TaeKwonDo ITF is Chan Hum style. It was developed by Gral Choi Hong Hi who was a Korean Military Officer and then a South Korean Millitary Officer. Tae Kwon Do ITF is more traditional than WTF, which is sport oriented.
it doesnt matter tae kwon do sucks either way...brazilian JiuJitsu is the way to go, Japanese JiuJitsu is good to, so is judo as long as its a combat style of judo and not geared strictly for olympic type competitions...
Yeah cool sparring, this is real army-like fight, our South Korean Taekwondo has gone too soft mainly because of its international input-has a lot to learn from N.Korea. This is by far the best sparring session on the Tube.
Actually ITF was in south korea and then introduce to north korea, because of that and politics itf left south and wtf was created. but now i itf is being introduce to the south again. and i agree itf is more powerful...way more powerful
WOW..i am so thrilled to see so many fellow ITF pratictioners..i dunno why but i feel that WTF ppl have and edge over ITF ppl in competition because they are a lot more faster(no offence) however ITF ppl learn more pratical stuff like unarmed combat which is rather useful when dealing with school bullies!! HAHAHA!!
Kailoong, what the fuck are you trying to say here?
It says quite clearly in the founding docuents of ITF Tae-Kwon-Do that Sparring were not a true test of foighting prowess, but rather a test of speed, atrength, technique and so on.
And please, if you have a proper critique, you can type it using proper grammar, allowing foreigners to actually understand what the fuck you're saying.
o yeah.. im give respect for all ITF Member, especially Koren PPL.. wish can fight with Korean in my future.. im the one of ITF MEmber,.. and deep interesting ITF.. ha ha wtf just nothing..
Nah.. TKD sparring is showing of speed and control mostly, Ho Sin Sul are for self defense, and are mostly takedowns, throws, defenses against lockdowns and so on.
yeah...'cause you know all sparring is like real self defence/fighting... not even UFC takes into consideration multiple attackers, weapons etc. They have to make it safe hence not hitting someone in the throat.
You get a lot of points doing high-kicks to the head, but it's easier to punch.
unfortunately we can't use elbows, or below belt attacks when sparring. And we can't hit the throat neither. Which is where the mid straight punch is supposed to be aimed.
i study wtf but personally like itf better. plus wtf version of free sparring is more of a sport, nobody will fight like that in a real fight. in wtf the way to score more points is just 90% kicking. trying to avoid the other person and time your attack right to hit them.
That tornado kick is beautiful...I see it's now a famous video clip all over the internet too.....Pretty interesting....I don't know crap about TKD or any MA...but I just joined TKD recently to lose weight....turns out I am learning traditional ITF.....great vid.
..uu.. u know russian, but u dont know that kazakstan was part of USSR thats why they speak russian. One of fighters from kazakstan as u can see at begin of movie.
I just found out that they're taught that the 'great leader' created taekwondo and not general choi hah. Apparently general choi when he went north used to surround himself by western females, as well as making everyone wear expensive clothes and jewellery to show that the outside world isnt as poor as what theyve been taught etc. the women thing was so nothing could happen to him politically - as it would cause alot of news.
plus patterns: wtf do palgwe's (spelling?) and another set poomse's.
Itf practise the TULS or Chang Hon patterns, which are named after General Choi's pseudonym/pen name for his caligraphy i think. Also if im not mistaken tul's just means pattern, i think the palqwe's/poomse's one of them are the name of the symbols such as the 3 lines, there are many of them due to being something linked to the um yang and buddhism or something? anyone care to enlighten me more about this? please tanks :o)
WTF is the Olympic standard style and their fighting consists of large body amour, headgear, and 90%+ kicks and no defensive blocking or kicking...while ITF has at least some balance of points for punches and with no body amour they are more prone to actually keeping their hand up to cover and block instead of letting the opponent strike them at will...sorry WTF guys
I'm kind of agree, moreover with NO amour with you; you can feel every impact of attack that landed on your body (body or face--that's really painful)--- that makes u be more alert on every movement of your opponent and THIS WILL makes us to be a better learner in martial art as martial art is about how learn how to make offense and defense when it's necessary; PLUS NO PAIN NO GAIN~!
ITF places more value on the art of self defence. The WTF is more of a sport - no punches to the head, which makes it look limited. ITF encourages more variety of technique by awarding more points for midair kicks and punches etc. The ITF school I was in spent about 90% of their time practising patterns, step sparring, and self defence - against weapons too! My impression of WTF is that they spend 90% of their time free sparring for tournament purposes. Both are better than nothing. R-)
imagine if itf tkd was in the olympics rather than wtf. would be one of the most popular and respected. wtf=watered down mcdojo bs

I think intentionally hitting below the belt is illegal. If not, shin and thigh kicks aren't worth points in matches.
