These people's attitude is ginormously admirable. Sometimes we feel like dying and we can walk and these athletes show us that life is beautiful when you make it worthwhile. Congratulations, you're proper go-getters
i dont think she could beat Federer his serve would outbeat her wheelchair. not in a bad way i love wheelchair tennis. but Federer will have the advantage.
im in a wheelchair and i've been playing for 5 years. The word is able bodied not Normal. I find that really fucking offensive. Wheelchair players caqn accomplish anything an ABLE BODIED person can. Esther is probably just as good as Roger Federer.
i see where you are comming from but federer would easily beat her. you cant put your weight into the ball so you cant hit as hard. and obviously you movement is a bit slower since you actually have to turn around.
no offence dude, i mean i play tennis and i cant imagine how hard it would be to play in a wheelchair. it must be really tough. good luck with your tennis!
just saying, like girls and guys tennis, there is a noticable difference
Im sorry but no. A wheelchair bound person cannot achieve EVERYTHING an able bodied person can. Someone who is not confined to a wheelchair can do more. Thats just the way it is.
isnt strange how the number one tennis players in real tennis dont have any personalities. Thats how u know if someone is strong, when they dont talk alot. usually people who talk alot are people who are not as strong. personally, i like the whole loner strong silent type thing in real tennis. I know that stereotype doesnt exist but maybe we all create a "loner" mentality in men's tennis.
Looks talented? LOL She hasn't lost a single match since 2003, has now 345 wins in a row and won every final in single and double at the Paralypics since 2004. She has only lost once since 2001.
wow. i have so much respect for her BUT one thing that bugged me about this vid is what the guy said at 1:26 "...she reached both finals ONCE AGAIN. and ONCE AGAIN she made it to the top..." o-o
I feel that the spectacle of the Olympics is awesome but the true sign of a country's greatness is how well it takes care of it's more challenged. I'll be following the paralympics closely because I feel that it is a reflection of this greatness.
Her display of her abilities even though shes in a state that she is in now, has earned more then my respect. She has earned more than your respect. She has earned more then our respect. She deserves the respect of everyone. Esther is nothing less than a hero
Esther, and others who conquer their physical limitations really do show the world that you can do anything you set you mind to, even in the most challenging of circumstances.
When our bodies limit us from doing things the way most people do, instead of feeling sorry for ourselves, we will always be proud of having looked for another way.
When we discover, and believe in these ways, we can be proud of ourselves, while also inspiring others.
Video has it wrong. She is undefeated since January 2003 but only lost one match since 2001 and has been world number 1 since 2009.

I totally agree with your comment about "normal"
Unfortunately because most people are able-bodied, sometimes people say insensitive things without malice.
I have just found this lady on wikipedia... I never heard of her... and she is an absolute legend who needs far more press than she gets!
And I agree that disabled people can achieve amazing things, and nobody would question her mental capabilities.
But beating Federer... really? I don't mean to be rude, but... Impossible.
Much Love.

@80sDream no they don't, they show that _some_ people can, and those being a minority.
Just because they can doesn't mean that all people can. Unrealistic optimism needs to die.
