  • I wish he would bang on the strings a bit harder. Its irritating when you dont get a 'clean' smack on the strings. The sound is a bit muted. The album version is spanking!

  • @TahoeVista I'm not a guitar expert but for me this is the best live version of Brothers in Arms..I think live versions of masterpieces like this one are always better than the studio versions. They are more soulful, more real! And you can distinguish the good guitar players from the best ones!

  • Beautimus!

  • Wow, it's been years and years I did hear this song for the last time. It still is great!

  • this is in my top 5 songs ever.

  • love!

  • i just saw the REAL messias.

  • There are not so many people who likes this kind of music today in our world, this kind of guitar..But we have a privilege to be able to listen this kind of music, this kind of masterpiece! You have to be opened minded to be able to understand artists like Mr Knopfler and Mr Gilmour..You have to be peaceful, with no hate in you!We are very different human beings from the others and that's why we have to feel privileged my brothers..I feel free when I listen this one!I feel like I'm flying!!

  • mark is a true artist not trying to be somthing he's not, his music grows with age and experience not trying to live the so called glory days... i for one love all his work

  • My dad used to put his speakers up on the window sills and blast this out into the garden when I was a kid. This song literally resonates in my blood when I hear it.

  • Achei maravilhoso. Tudo que Mark Knopler faz é fantástico. Adoro.

  • You're the best ... you are my hero ... I will love you forever¡¡¡¡¡...

  • I just don't care about what critic says about guitarrists like Knopfler and Gilmour...for me, they are not guitarrists, they are what nowadays music lacks the most: MUSICIANS. This is a work of genius.

  • @mgdoom well said

  • Listen at 5:05 to that guitar cry... so awesome

  • so alt.............perfekt

  • "...But its written in the starlight,, & every line on your palm,,,, we are fools to make War, Oh my brothers in arms,,,,"

May me live in peace,, one world,,brothers in peace

  • Solo Marka cudeńko.

  • Thumbs up for if this is the greatest song ever! Very emotional and you can see it when he plays as well the the passion :')

  • cool baby You not gonna be bored with me

  • A song like this deserves at least a hundred million views. Spread the word YouTube!!! Mr.Knopfler - you'll be my hero till the end of my days, I swear.

  • Nicest

  • To all the battleweary heroes out there, who know the true meaning of this song, I salute you.

  • That pulls heartstrings...Always liked this amazing song.

  • einfach gut oder

  • The recording level in this video is too low. Fix and repost.

  • Very good.

  • fantasyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • Mark no doubt picked the Les Paul for its softer tone that goes well with the strings backing him up.

  • ehm can be the pretty girl next door or the woman of your dreams

  • Not many guitarists have that recognizable distinct tone and style."Smooth Hand" makes the "Slow Hand" shake.

  • very good but my favorite is Romeo &Juliet

  • Awesome (a) This one stays always in my heart

  • To say any1 is better than Mark, first u should look for a guitar player who plays the true essence of guitar, second a guitarrist who play with fingers.. OMFG.. Mark is one of the bests.. and every time i see he.. i enter in a emotional state of mind

  • @rubinfurtado no guitarist can be said to be better than the other one. They all have their own great style. and they all flourish and shine in their own respective styles. Mark Knopfler is great at playing these easy listening tunes, Hendrix was a pioneer in rock music, Gilmour was an expert in soulful solos. none of these are better than the other and neither is any one of them lesser than anyone.

  • @padfootpak I agree with you so much my friend!!

  • And his guitar is gently weeping.... Absolutely brilliant

  • @athantea thank you :-)

  • To My Brothers in Iraq... We are ONE World...

  • Mark Knopfler amazing guitar solo remix. It's so amazing, it takes you away to the Guitar Gods. Knopler earned his place among the greats of his time. All of the more sophisticated listeners knew that mainstream fame ≠ Talent!

    /watch?v=Vo_R_zVxr9g

  • MONS-TRU-EUX !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Fit My Vietnam era--from Vet

  • Stroke of genius to choose a Les Paul for this song. Exactly the right sound.

  • @donepearce Couldn't agree more. Soulful to the end.

  • vvvv

  • This is simply heaven, in its lightest form, he makes the guitar weep tears of joy. <3

  • Mark Knopler + David Gilmour = Heaven

  • @crustyboils Agreed. Two men that doesn't need any speed to impress an audience.

  • @crustyboils I just cannot decide which one is better. For sure their solos are so unique and stand out of all the others. I here a story with their solos not just guitar music like all others.

  • @ma16360 I would like to play the guitar like Gilmour and Knopfler just only to understand the feelings they have when they are playing the guitar..I'm just a listener and they make me feel like I never felt before, how it would be If I could play like them??

  • @dgmj1 Absolutely the same here:-)

  • @ma16360 Neither are better and both would say the same. It's not about being better for these guys. It's conveying feeling and emotion and doing what they love

  • @crustyboils tens toda razão!!!

  • He deserves a statue

  • As an Ex Serviceman I'd like to say "Perfect".

Absolute class now as it was back then.

    "Ubique"

  • Not even God can play as good as Mark.

  • He is not in yet? Total blasphemy!! Shame on you, Jann Wenner!!

  • Yes !!! I love this song !!!

  • please everybody vote for knopfler in rock and roll hall of fame..and pass the word!!!

  • 1. Mark Knopfler

    2. David Gilmour

    3. Who cares?

  • @LucZamTor Consider 3. Carlos Santana or Eric Clapton? Listening to assorted gitar work by either, is awesome!

  • Thanks for music...

  • 15 pessoas preferem o Restart...emos

  • That is, what we call, get ONE with your instrument, become 1 with its soul. And use it to show the world your true love;)

  • ALTAMENTE pensante,a musica.....

  • David Gilmour-Mark Knopfler

my favorite guitar players...they play the guitar with soul as nobody else!!

    love them both!!!!!!!

  • yeah mark is coming to holland!

  • When I grow up, I want to play as well Mark, Eric and Slash to name a few masters!

  • werelds....niks meeer aan doen!

  • This was the song Tenacious D wrote a tribute to, they thought that they had written the best song in the world, but alas had just dreamed about a Mark Knopfler concert.

  • @weaselsofdoom

actually it was to stairway to heaven, but still, this is the best song, in the world!

  • Is there another button better than the "Like" button? Like "Like Like" or Like Like Like!"

  • 13 dislikes??????? why???? how can anyone dislike this song??? in my opinion it is the best song ever

  • Only one word .. artist .. as a man his age, I only wish to share the respect and love I have for his humanity and sensitivity .. he sees this world thru his music in such a wonderful way .. and he is oh so willing to share it with all of us .. and I thank him sincerely for that .. we are all blessed for his being who he is .. /s

  • Master at work...Do not Disturb!!!

  • That guitar performance... it's a pity Hendrix didn't live to see it. He would have been deeply impressed.

  • uno dei migliori brani di Mark.. fantastico

  • Those 13 who dislike this song are DEAF ? This is the only logic explanation.

  • @Tostito12345 Right?

  • Wow. Just wow.

  • My Dad died 1 month ago to this day... I remember he had this on 12' Vinyl when I was about 5 or 6yrs old and I I used to play this over and over again.... find myself doing it again. Not easy listening to this song while theres a picture of himself looking over at me.... Mark Knopfler and my aul lad...TWO LEGENDS!!!!!!!!

  • @TheEggler Go God bless you and your Dad - brother

  • @TheEggler This song is close to the sound of universe. Where life is forever. Changing it's form, over and over. And where your Dad, and my Dad, just enjoy the sound. Waiting for next life.

  • nearly crying. can't describe it with words!

  • to je super pomalicka pisnicka!!!

  • As the great Douglas Adams famously wrote- 'Mark Knoplfer can make a custom stratocaster hoot and sing like a bunch of angels, tired from being good all week, out on a Saturday night and in need of a good beer!'

  • One of the most poignant, beautiful songs that grabs your heart and never lets go. For me, Dire Straits was an incredible band of heart and soul. Mark Knopfler's imperfect voice and perfect guitar created a musical world so beautiful and powerful it could bring you to tears. Simply beautiful, simply great!

  • Jammed along on that with a classic guitar...

    best jam i ever had

  • Just sensational - this song conveys the tragedy of the human race as few other rock songs can.

  • WooooooooOOWWWWWW!

The whole song is so fantastic!!!

The end is really orgasmic, don´t have another word for it!

  • the concert is already so long ago and still a catchy tune for me

  • @pixelony44 catchy tune? imho its much deeper than catchy.

  • this is music for a lifetime...

  • mmmmmmmm

  • the anthem to a good old cry!

  • è qualcosa per cui dire: che bella canzone, non renderebbe veramente il senso..

  • Mark's guitar had to lay back and have a smoke after this song...

  • @EviLeo187 I think you're right!! :)

  • I am nearly 70 years old, but not dead yet. Mark is among a small group of musicians who speaks to me like few others can. My 14 year old grandson and guitar player also loves him.

  • @tgbscooter50 Your Whole family has a fantastic taste...

  • li y a au moins 12 sourd

  • il y a au moins 12 bourricots

  • NO ONE can make a Guitar Cry like mark can/and do..

  • @hostlernick SRV did a good job at it

  • Now my friends, this is what i call music ;)

  • Always difficult to choose, but this is my very favorite. Great lyrics and the guitar is to die for . . . always sends chills up my spine. Thank you!

  • This song sends chills down my spine every time I hear it.

  • Why are songs like this not given air time on the radio?

  • @Brikkyz That's because lady CrapHead and Mr Enrique *enisjoke (sorry for the language) have better charisme? Seriously, I have no clue....

  • @Brikkyz Because they don't make the greedy, rich corporations enough money compared to the fucking bullshit mass-manufactuered shite that they've conditioned the newer generations into liking.

Thankfully for people like us, we have brains and are able to draw distinctions between what real music and cheese is.

    Just be thankful for that.

  • i got chills, they're multipying...

  • Поздрав Игор Полкап, другарче од детството :)

  • A guitar, not played but stroked, Mark can look at a guitar and it cries tears of nectar

  • @sannox01 So true, my tears just drop on my keyboard...

  • @sannox01 So true, my tears just drop on my keyboard...

  • Mark Knopfler odgapił styl Kuby Sienkiewicza! xd

  • Gibson Les Paul.. The best guitar in the best guitarist's hands...

  • This is about war brothers killing each other like we have nowadays almost every where and think that a simple Gibson Les Paul Guitar and Mark Knopfler could solve it - thatwould be so great but we will always try and hope - and Mark did such a great song about he English and the Irish "braves" - OK I am German so I have to be quet - best regards, Uwe

  • great song!!! simply the best!!!

  • Y think that guitar is a multiorgasmic guitar

  • Arguably the greatest rendition ever. Masterful control.

  • Acojonante y los pelos de punta.

    Sin palabras.

  • how i can anyone dislike this?? i rly dont get it...

  • Simply the BEST

  • He shouldn't be allowed to do that with that guitar. Master at work.

  • Wonderful!

    Thank You brothers!

  • At 16, Money for Nothing was my favorite song for obvious reasons, but at 40, this is the one I always go back to.

  • @carsonky yeah... , thank god for ALL THAT noncommercial Mark has written

  • I want Mark to teach me to play the guitar

  • Dayum! That was wicked!

  • pure class

  • ogni volta, ascoltarla , sembra compendiare in musica il dramma della guerra .

  • We are fools to make war on our Brothers in Arms...

Well said, if only the politicians would understand...

  • Music flows from Mark's soul...and that music connects our souls to his..

  • i love listening to this man he's a genius

  • Manly tears...

  • Amazing

  • This song never ages and in a class of it's own

  • I remember when CD's first came out, every CD player came with a copy of this album. Easy to see why, it's some powerful shit.

  • damn, im 19 years old and thats like my fathers music

ill be child of hip hop, rnb and soul forever

    but thats just beautiful music

    big props

  • I'd never really listened to this song properly, but now it's a song with a lot of meaning and It'll remain a favourite of mine.

It's a shame I had to loose someone so close for it to have the meaning:(

  • Desde los 15 años me acompaña la música de Mark Knopfler y ya hace 20 años de eso. Aunque pase tiempo sin escucharla siempre vuelvo a ella y enseguida, desde los primeros acordes, recuerdo por qué siempre me acompañará...

  • This is classy, this is what music should be. I love you!!

  • This is classy, this is what music should be. This is skill, and a sheer pleasure to watch. Knopfler is the master of the strings.

  • See how he turns o watch the girls play in he last minute of the video. He loves he sound they are putting in his song and so do I. And... those girls are hot!
