@DeadMoonRisingBand rofl korgull is just the name of a character in a song...the robotic skill-like mascot is called The Voivod, and it's suppossed to be a Vampire from a future post nuclear apocalypse world.

@joanal12 Even their official store lists the design featuring him as Korgul, but I think the Voivod as you say is more of a title than an actual name. There was an interesting interview out there were Away explained some things about the Voivod universe (in french)...

Away was a child with attention deficit, therefore he created a character to alienate from the real world, wich he called the voivod, and as i said it's a vampire lord from a post apocalyptic ea. Voivod's first five lbums are about the character's thoughts and experiences. The first song on war and pain is a self description of the Voivod, the later albums like nothingface and dimension hatross focuses more on moral and psychic issues that he has.

@joanal12 Hmm, I may have got terribly confused at some point in the lore then, or because of the merch. Are we agreeing that the character presented on the first four releases is the same? Because then, the character is listed as korgul on the shirts. Or maybe it's just Korgüll on the Rrröööaaarrr cover and not "the voivod" as you say, which would explain my confusion.

Both are characters of the universe langewin created, and they both look very similar in his drawings and covers:

The voivod looks more fleshy and has hair (W&P, Hatröss covers), and korgull looks more metallic (Röar cover).

Also, even being used on many voivod designs, Korgull only appears in one song, and The Voivod is the character that narrates from his point of view most of the songs of the first 5 albums, therefore he's the mascot, not korgull.

@DeadMoonRisingBand by the way voivods a very weird, complex and abstract band on his lyrical themes, and the voivod is just an excuse, a way to make the band's lyrics focus on future, violence, sci-fi, pshyche and metaphysics, so its not a thing to worry about.

They are not conceptual narrative lineal albums, just random sci-fi themed stories (but sometimes related to the members thoughts, experiences and feelings), using the voivod character and his world as some kind of logical connector.

Ravenous Medicine; it talks about a weird hospital that makes all sorts experiments with patients, like mutations and futuristic stuff, but its a song about vivisections.

The song Pre-Ignition is supposed to talk about a robot wich works on an aluminium extraction factory, but they made it inspired by some of their familiars, wich work on an aluminium factory in Quebec. The voivod visits dat place and describes it: excuse to talk bout a real experience in a futuristic way
