The Playbook is dead. NO Skype, NO Netflix, NO Hulu and still NO email but We werrpe told last year that it was coming. I was fool and wasted my money on one. Go to the Playbook market everything cost more there, Angry Birds is $5.00, Angry birds for Android is $1.00. Do not waste your money on this brick. Buy an Android tablet or an IPad and you are good to go out of the box,
@Tom2736 unser nearly every PlayBook video on YouTube you're posting the same shit. Skype, Hulu, Netflix bla bla. I got a PlayBook and its absolutely awesome. The Flash Browser great, together with my BlackBerry its a wonderful combo and I can load it with tons of media from different sources. I don't give a fuck on Netflix nor Skype. If Skype makes its way to the PlayBook. Great, if not I dont care. This simply is the only real tablet out there.
@JazzRadioFfm Please read all the reviews about the whole 2.0nd the Playbook, it's Not good. Android or Apple did not kill the Playbook. RIM killed the Playbook by taking a good tablet and doing everything wrong from no email to the worst selection of apps. Any tablet out there Android or Apple is good to go out of the box. How long did it take RIM to put email on this poor tablet? Where are all the Android apps on the Playbook? All I want is Skype but sadlynow I see the death of our good tablet
@joeywyatt13118 It's awesome for sure, too bad people have to slightly modify the apps then upload them to appworld, rather than us just being able to go to the android market and download straight from there. :(

SO BESIDES SURFING THE WEB, WHAT CAN IT DO? good question...good question. YOU'LL HAVE TO WAIT 3 MONTHS (MAYBE) TO GET ANDROID ON IT THEN IT'LL BE USEFUL. GOOO RIM!!!! YOU'RE THE BEST.
@Channelsearcher IPAD WHAT? DID I EVEN MENTION IPAD ONCE IN MY COMMENT YOU DUMB FUCK?!!! YOU BLACKBERRY PEOPLE ARE LIKE THE POOR KIDS ON THE BLOCK, YOU FINALLY GET SOMETHING 2 YEARS AFTER IT COMES OUT AND THEN YOU THINK ITS THE COOLEST THING EVER! WHY TIE YOURSELF DOWN TO A DEVICE WITH SO MANY RESTRICTIONS? A TABLET WITHOUT AN EMAIL APP? LOL ENOUGH SAID! WHEN YOU GUYS FINALLY GET ANDROID ON THIS YOU'RE GONNA THINK ITS THE COOLEST THING EVER...JUST A COUPLE YEARS BEHIND SCHEDULE...ITS OK.
@Channelsearcher LOL The thing is man I wanted to like this device but god damn, the appworld is horrible in the tablet version. There's absolutely nothing useful there. It just seems like the rushed the shit out this and released it unfinished. I mean its embarrassing that a blackberry device doesnt come with a native email app. I could understand somewhat about no BBM unless bridged cause of the data plan you pay for phones but no email? cmon...blackberrians need to wake up and look around
@Channelsearcher I actually got the ASUS Transformer.... mmm mmmm mmmmm That's what a tablet should be people. Now if i could only sell these BB Playbooks for a light profit! No one seems to want them. :(
@djnikel Yeah I'll admit Apple and Blackberry are crap but they're known for easy to use products. I wondered about those other tablets because I used iPads and they just suck, and the apps are just shovelware, useless apps that no one will use. I'll just stick to my M14X :P
Yeah, too bad RIM will not release this to us. We are still stuck with a badly unfinished device. Come on this video is from FEBRUARY and it is now JULY. Where are the cool things RIM bragged about? Lies!!!!
@FwiizzHD does the playbook have webcam? this is the first time i hear about it so i do not know.. do u have a place to download apps as the apple store or cydia ? Installous?
Please Blackberry, please don't destroy the Playbook like Palm destroyed the Pre by delaying its release while leaking hundreds of demos to rival companies who then copy all your unique features leaving you with a product that's no longer a cutting edge device!
Wow .... unless I saw this demo, I wounldn't have know about all these amazing things. What else are they hiding from us? Are these going to be put into every NEW car out there? I'm buying me a NEW car then !!! !

Definitely getting myself one of these. It seems like an excellent consumer product as well, I really have only heard good things about it so far. We all know it will do well in the business world, this is such a powerful tablet.
ALL i CAN SAY IS THAT I HOPE MOTOROLA COMES REALLY FUC&*^& STRONG WITH THAT BIG ROM UPDATE THEY HAVE BEEN PROMISING BECAUSE THIS PLAYBOOK OS LOOKS 10 TIMES SWEETER...THE ONLY THING LEFT TO SEE IS ITS COMPATIBILITY WITH THE ANDROID LIBRARY.
@ValhallaGuild "please put microsoft office at least powerpoint we need that in business"
I'm a couple days late, but other viewers might find this interesting as well:
The PlayBook will ship with the full Documents To Go suite which is compatible with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. (You can view, edit, and create all three document types.)
exactly! for people who wants to use it for business that's exactly what they need... an app in wich you can create, modify and translate the files to your computer or from computer to tablet!
I don't know if I'd be able to, but I hope I can connect the playbook to my TV through HDMI and using the front facing camera talk to my girl on her playbook that would also be hooked up to her big TV while looking at each other, just like in the "Jetson"s cartoon. :D
For anyone wondering on the release date, currently there are two rumors one that it will be released at the end of March and the other that it will be released April 10. Anyway, it gives me plenty of time to save up my money since I plan to buy 4 of these. Two with just wifi for my parents, and two with 4G one for my girl and one for me. "Apple fan boys" eat your hearts out!
@biggerben2010 Dude you made 3 posts when you could have put that all in one single post. Obviously you're are trolling here but you are horrible at it. And maybe you should go through and do research. Moto admitted it does not yet support flash or SD card. And are you ignorant or just stupid? If the playbook supports android apps then it will have Android+Blackberry apps. That's more than just android apps.
i'm guessing the 2 dislike are from a apple fan and a google fan..although for the google fan BB playbook maybe running android apps in the future..maybe they are going to add it from the start and that's why we haven't heard of a release date officially. lets see on march 2nd what apple will show off..it probably won't be a flash website..but what if they did..huh...oh well playbook is still my number on choice followed by viliv x70 slate...
@biggerben2010 Honeycomb doesn't even support Flash or SD Cards out of the box... MAJOR fail on Moto's part for releasing an 800 dollar tablet without supporting a lot of great features
Shut up dick. Does crackberry has lots of apps. No so. Honeycomb got sd & flash. You rotten crackberry can't touch this. Crackface. Out of the box, you live in the box.@FunktasticLucky
@biggerben2010 First off man... your grammar is atrocious. I had a hard time understanding this. Rim is working to support android apps, whether out of the box or in a future update. "Does it has lots of apps?" Well if you support android apps I suppose it has more than android now doesn't it? As for Honeycomb and the moto xoom... No there is no support for flash or SD cards out of the box. Sorry to say it but Motorola rushed that tablet to market to get it out before the playbook.
Software fanboys, regardless of what brandname, are all the same in the end, Annoying. I'm a BB user but watching any fanboy crapping on any format smells of retardation.
i dont trust blackberry! i got my first blackberry phone this year and its just horrible! hidden costs from RIM is the worst thing about it! my old phone did everything better then my blackberry! my old phone was made in 2009 and my blackberry was made in 2011 and may blackbeery is just garbagw! horrible company horrible products! do not make the same mistake as me and switch to blackberry because they are truley useless for browsing, social networking is crap! everything sucks
To all those people that say this doesn't have native email and calendar, Hello! put your head of of your @#$. This runs the full internet meaning you can get your gmail mail and calendar etc. AND it'll probably take programmers less than a month to put together an interface for gmail that'll blow anything google has out of the water.
Dump on RIM all you want, they bought this OS from QNX and no other tablet OS comes even close to this including Honeycomb. TAT+QNX = #1 cool Kudos to RIM's MGMT
This will be available for government positions and private firms as many already run on the BB network. To question what it can and can't do via data transfer like you say is impossible as no OFFICIAL info has been found about the official firmware release. If you find any restrictions that you might complain about then I would assume it's firmware limited via decision. I'm sure they will listen to any complaints and adjust.
Also under the hood.no other tablet matches it...period.
Love it all. However, I hope TAT brings some of their ideas to the BB handset as well. Some of their ideas for Android never came to fruition, yet I am hoping they actually get some of this stuff on an actual device as well as the Playbook for that matter. If you get a chance, look at some of the TAT Home for Android videos. Amazing concepts.
Cough...too bad you won't get Calender, Email or Notepad apps unless you have a BlackBerry Smartphone. As a consumer device this is a Failbook until they have a full featured the device for people who aren' t just brief case barers.
@Goremaster Where are you getting that information?
There will be apps available for Calendar, Email, and Notepad as they are found on App World, which the Playbook will be able to utilize without a Blackberry phone. Having a Blackberry phone allows you to bridge to the Playbook. But both devices could utilize aforementioned apps separately or in "bridge".
@Goremaster Gizmondo: "The question is: Who, besides BlackBerry users, is going to want to buy it? The core email and calendar apps are completely tethered to a BlackBerry. Without your BlackBerry, there is no native email or calendar app—just access through the (admittedly good) web browser. But that's gonna turn off a lot of people. And we didn't get a chance to see what the new App World looks like, or any of the future apps that could make it a truly killer tablet—or break it."
you don't know what you're saying, email that exist in the web like, yahoo, google and outlook can be access using web, calendar will be available soon on the apps world while notepad, excel, powerpoint and word are pre installed applications, try research goremaster
Everytime I watch a new video I want this thing more and more. I can't wait to get one and hook it up to my tv and browse the internet with full flash! Seriously the playbook has to be the best tablet out...
So how does this work if I want to sit on my couch and play with these cool applications that interface with my TV? I assume I need like a 100FT HDMI cable?
@barkerja Thats your fault for being 100ft away ;) In all honesty though you can get a 30m cable, but are you seriously going to be more than 5m away from a TV?
spellbound! on many fronts, they perfectly distributed the load among the CPU cores, meaning you can play something on your large screen LCD and at the same time do something different on your Playbook. 3-D graphics and Convex/Concave holographic UI made me bust into joy looking at the possibilities. Hats off to QNX and Tat and for RIM for bringing them together
want! and not a droid version! android is overrated. forget android and go native!

Cough...too bad you won't get Calender, Email or Notepad apps unless you have a BlackBerry Smartphone. As a consumer device this is a Failbook until they have a full featured the device for people who aren' t just brief case barers.
Goremaster 1 year ago

@Goremaster
you don't know what you're saying, email that exist in the web like, yahoo, google and outlook can be access using web, calendar will be available soon on the apps world while notepad, excel, powerpoint and word are pre installed applications, try research goremaster

So how does this work if I want to sit on my couch and play with these cool applications that interface with my TV? I assume I need like a 100FT HDMI cable?
barkerja 1 year ago
@barkerja Thats your fault for being 100ft away ;) In all honesty though you can get a 30m cable, but are you seriously going to be more than 5m away from a TV?

Very impressive, although I wish he would have showed what was on the TV when he was demoing some of the other apps. Perhaps it was just blank.

@codefaker Yeah, it was blank.

spellbound! on many fronts, they perfectly distributed the load among the CPU cores, meaning you can play something on your large screen LCD and at the same time do something different on your Playbook. 3-D graphics and Convex/Concave holographic UI made me bust into joy looking at the possibilities. Hats off to QNX and Tat and for RIM for bringing them together
