curious you should mention that bit about green on saint patricks day. (not that anyone really thinks this way except me and my friends) You wear green if you're Catholic and orange if you're Protestant. My Mom is almost full Irish and comes from a Catholic family, but I attend a protestant church, so I usually wear both. Methinx this deserves a reply video....

You also wear orange if you're Dutch and think of the Irish as Roman Catholic oppressors. :) (that is, oppressors who are Roman Catholic. Which they were in some ways, but we'll let bygones be bygones.)
