I will say it again: ever heard of the Etruscans? The Basques? The Picts, the Finns, the Slavs, the Lusitans, the Iberians, the Tartessians, the Umbrians, the Celts...?
None of these peoples were "founded by the Greeks". The Greeks were not the first people in Europe. Do your research before arguing with anyone at all.
@Ennio444 You are true, that is the same thing that happen on America ( and I refer to all America not only to United States) In school teacher always teach that Cristobal Colon discovered America, but that is not true there were lots of Civilizations here, he was not the first one.
@jeremiahswee since you appear quite knowlegable about latin can you answer me a question :-are most languages based of latin as i speak italian english and spanish (The benefits of having foreign parents) and i kept on noticing similarities
most languages which are now spoken in parts which in old times belonged to the imperium are mostly influenced by, or even built of latin.
english is a bad example, it was influenced by so many languages. the most "latin" words you find in english are from the french, which the normans brought with them in the middle ages.
but spanish and italian are great example, they were built from vulgar latin.
the romans are so awesome I have a Aureus of Caesar from ~200B.C.E. on my channel in a video if you want to see it I think it's 24k or 22k gold plated because I can see it has some odd colors in it, but it's still really cool!
"Greetings, I am Augustus, Ruler and High Pontif of Rome, you are a friend of ours, you're welcome. So strong, yet so stupid. The brain must be used to create forttude."
@chiisanawani sorry but this is not the italian accent at all... the italian tonic accents are completely mistaken as his voice doesn't fall on the stressed vowel, but it even seems it's rising...
@R10freestyle Actually Latin does not come from Greek: they maybe share the same ancestor (Indo-European), but the only Greek influences in vocabulary concern phylosophy (logically) and ships (they were certainly better sea-men than Romans). I'm Italian and I perfectly understand spoken Latin, still I almost don't get a word of Modern Greek.
Italians don't come from the Greeks. There were a myriad of Itallic peoples before the Romans homogenised the Peninsula. Ever heard of the Etruscans, who spoke an unknown language of unknown origin? They were there before the Greeks ever set a foot on Italy.
@CyborgWarlock It's not a dead language. Latin is the official langauge of the Vatican City. Plus all of the Romance languages (French, Spanish, Italian) are all direct descendants of Latin. And most English words are originally from Latin. So long as men can write or speak, Latin is not dead. :D
@desertwonder because it was spoken by the romans which now live in italy and if you knew anything about italian and latin which u said u didnt aout latin. italian is a shitty version of latin
Zeker wel. Ik vind het best geweldig dat Augustus echt Latijn praat in dat spel.

Even though it is generally well done, the pronunciation still sounds English in some word, while the voice completely (or almost) lacks of feeling.
Sad to say that in Civ4 latin was far more accurate than here...

And apparently the entire Vatican City is a World Heritage Site and is of great cultural significance.
