i meet andrew robinson in forbidden planet in leeds a few years ago and what a great guy he was, chatting with fans and shaking hands, he made you feel so welcome
@joshrules418 If there wasn't a charge for autographs, these events wouldn't happen at all. Nobody forces you to come, and the prices are made clear on the forum long before the event begins. The crew aren't the ones who charge you, so getting personal about them is just immature.
@DavidRichardLord well half of the famous people there would love to sign for free. And they have for me. As i've told them that I dont feel its right paying for someone to sign something!! And they agree usually. Unless they are Bruce Campbell!! But most sign for free if u ask them too :) And i love when the stuards go a bit mental, cos its quite ammusing. cos the celeb dont care whta they say!
@shuichishindo2211 I'm sure lots of them would like to sign for free, but the fact is these conventions are just too expensive to put on for there to be no charge for autographs. I'm saying it's a matter of practicality. The guests need their appearance fees, the crew need paying, there's renting the venue, insurance, travel costs, the list is almost endless. Plus, I've gotten to know a few of the Showmasters crew. For the most part they're lovely people.
@DavidRichardLord well yes, there mostly nice and i do love, conventions, but half off the people that do attend them, sign for free when u bump into them. So if they are not willing to sign for free during the event, they will when its over. As i have experienced many times. And most off them have signed for free for me right in front off the showmasters crew!! Which i love :) I dont disagree that paying is probably needed, BUT i just wont do it, cos no celeb is worth paying for. Its a mockery!
@shuichishindo2211 So, you're the exception to the rule? If it weren't for those of us who do actually pay for the autographs, those celebs wouldn't be there in the first place. If we all went round the conventions 'bumping into' the guests and getting the signatures for free, Showmasters would go bankrupt pretty quickly and without Showmasters, there are no conventions. Your attitude seems a bit selfish.
@DavidRichardLord Its not selfish im afraid!! Its called being conventional!! Im a perfectly normal person that doesnt think a celebrity is worthy to pay for. Even if showmasters went bankrupt, them celebs would come over at some point to do some promotion and i'd get them that way!! What is the point in paying when they would rather sign for free anyway?
@shuichishindo2211 Firstly, for many of us these conventions are the only chances we get to meet some of the actors whose work we admire so much. We don't all live in London, and it's rarely practical for us to go all the way there on the off chance that we might be able to get their autograph. You said you enjoy the conventions. Well, the only way a convention can work is if it's paid for. Besides, I'd rather pay for their autograph than gamble on a chance encounter.
This video is excellent. I wish I'd been able to record the conversation I had with him, but I'm my own camera man and it would have been a bit awkward.
