I'm curious about something - I wonder what the best highscore could be. There's a limit things you can earn points from, so it's not like some games where it has no limit. It would have to be fast like this but the main things would be playing on hard like this, but you would play slower for the no hit bonus. I also think that the occasional detour could be made to collect time (I think that was in here) if it added overall to the score or you could collect ammo along the way.
@difficultbastard Apperently there's something called "superplays" out there that would cover what I mean, but I have never found a single example of one.
I wish I had played this version. She moves a lot better, the gun is more powerful, the grenades explode on impact, and I wish this had been the ending for Ridley (although I know that some main characters must die)... but the music... yeah, it could have been better.
Actually, the very first script for Alien 3 did not have Ripley dying. It featured her in a minor role, though, while Corporal Dwayne Hicks became the lead character of the movie. The original did not feature a prison planet, either. The plan was to shoot Alien 3 and 4 back to back and have Ripley return completely in Alien 4 to end the Alien menace once and for all. If it had been this way, we could have avoided the disaster that was Alien Resurrection.
@Elfrunner Thanks for the info. I would have liked a better place than that prison planet, although I don't like the idea of Ridley having a minor role... but as you said, "If it had been this way, we could have avoided the disaster that was Alien Resurrection."
I think I would have preferred her to have a minor role in Alien 3 as opposed to actually dying. This way, there'd have been no cloning and no hybrid Alien newborn stuff. The original script was to feature a group that sort of set all of this into motion. It wasn't to be grounded on just one planet.
I could see making a game out of it. The question is continuity. They seem very stern with continuity in the Alien films. Now that they've quashed any decent continuation of the series following Alien Resurrection, I suppose our only hope now lies in the new Alien prequel film that Ridley Scott is currently working on. At least we can ignore Resurrection in this sense.
good game, and i dont mean to be dick, but i think you are on easy mode. You are using too little ammo for each shot on the aliens. Only talking from a standpoint that ive been playing the game since it was first released, got it on the first xmas after it came out. I forgot why but i begged for it when it came out, it was all i wanted i remember...
Not only does she die but on Alien 3 there was only one single alien. The problem was that there were no guns and hence it was a lot harder for them to actually kill it.
i was gonnaa say, this doesnt look much liek the SNES version, which was probably harder and less tedious
i never got to play any other but the SNES version and even that, very little, i only owned the game for aobut a week before someone i trusted as a friend at the time stole it, and many other rare SNES games, needless to say he isnt a friend anymore
This is one of my all time favourites, the game play is good, the soundtrack is as good as anything ever produced for the Genesis, and the controls are also fairly simple
The routes on levels 3 and 8 seem sub-optimal, especially on the former, but I'm wondering if this is done to time Ripley's movements with the lifts.
Well done on level 13 - that one I could never complete on hard because of the time limit., and 25:06... sweet little trick to get down the ladder quickly!

Yeah, that's true. When I was a kid I had memorized every level so running through them was not a problem. I hadn't played the game for more than ten years when I gave it a try last week and had some difficulties.
Man, when I used to play this game. I was never able to beat it. I think the highest level I ever got to was stage 10-12. :-/
Until I found a cheat to skip levels. Then just went to final boss and beat it that way...This game was pretty difficult. But awesome at the sametime.
Hehe, and I liked the sound effects and music for when you fail in your mission, and everybody dies by the aliens emerging from the person's chest. Good times :-)
cool dude i never beat it i used to play it at my cousins house- this was one of my fondest gaming experiences, the element of surprise mixed with a time limit in a maze used to really get me going, shit it would today, thanks for this man. i never beat it myself so this is cool!!
Very playable classic Megadrive game. Played this one for hours into days on launch. It was very frustrating though since you had to learn the level design perfectly to rescue all the infected gimps. Solid platforming arcade action with real atmosphere. I wish the soundtrack was a bit creepier though.
Interesting note, after listening to the sounds it has come to my attention that when you blast the alien with the pulse rifle, their death cry is actually the sound of HIcks shtogun blasting that alien in the mouth followed by Hudsons scream. It sounds like the pitch has been altered on part of it, but I think thats what that sound actually is.
lol I dont know if I agree with that but I just can't hear hudsons scream in there at all. I do know that one of the first guys who dies in Aliens when they first go into the hive all armed to the teeth is the deathscream of the prisoners you ahve to rescue in this game when you run out of time. Of course that rarely happens except in the later levels when you can't find the well hidden fuckers, unless you just let the time run out to see all the chestbursters kill them in the early levels =)

oh man i remember i got all the way up to the final gaurdians and lost, I was soo pissed but the game was great, I bet if i played this now i could beat it no problem, i was like 8 when i played this game possibly younger.
I remember this game being excessively hard and frustrating and I couldn't even get past lvl 1. I was probably 9 or something. I'd rather play Vectorman or Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
A good game but miles away from the SNES version. Crappy sound but the music is great even though it doesn't fit the game at all (except the Part 4 music and Part 2 is really catchy). Guardians are amazingly difficult compared to Mother Aliens in Alien 3 SNES.
You know, I've played that game since I was 8 years old and have been a fan of the series forever... and it had never ocured to me that yeah she isn't suposed to have weapons.
that s absolutely great man but.. the version i played in the amiga 1200 it was relaly different at hard mode.
aliens at world 3 nedded 17 pulse gun shots or 2 grenades.and in last world they nedded more than 20 pulse ammo or even 3 nades.. the version is the Aga on amiga 1200 if u want to try it check for winuae emulator and download the aga version using an adf floppy disk(downloadable source from many sites or if u want i can pass to u)
i remember my dad borrowed this game from the local movie store when i was around 6. the game scared me so bad i didnt even want to play it anymore. the part that got me was when you failed it showed a picture of the prisoners with chest bursters comin out. thats what got to me. haha.
Fantastic game. You can still play this game on the PC. Download an Emulator. Kega is best. And search for the ROMS. They might be harder to find though.
PLEASE
PLAY
AGAIN

Sigourney is the best in Alien movies.
I've seen a lot of Biehn movies, he's just a B-Movie star.

I love all the "alien 3" games when Ripley is supposed to have no military weapons.

Fantastic game. You can still play this game on the PC. Download an Emulator. Kega is best. And search for the ROMS. They might be harder to find though.

Oh god I loved this game, despite how hard it was. My favorite thing to do was to try and crush running aliens in the doors. :P

This is the most defficult game in SEGA, you have to remember all prisoners places, to sort this out I'v made a map and it became easier.
