You guys won't understand as you are not Indian. This skin color is really important in India. When my fiance first told my mom-in-law about me, she rejected me only because I'm dark skinned. Even now she haven't completely accepted me and regularly trying to convince me to use some fairness cream.
@prahelika yes, these people do not understand how important it is for us, dark skinned Indians, to have a lighter skin tone. We get treated badly and achieve less in life as we have dark skin tone. We want to be treated nicely just like the lighter ones. Just go to any southeast Asian country, and be a dark skin woman, and you will realize and will feel sorry for your dark skin tone. Even in USA or any part of the world, usually, lighter skin gives you a better life. It is the truth.
so disgusting...we Indians needs to start embracing our beautiful brown skin tones and stop using all these fairness creams...wake up my fellow desis!!! Brown is Beautiful!!!
i think tanning ads are as racist as skin whitening ads, in america pale is ugly while in india dark is ugly, people should just love their skin colour whatever it may be
I am an African-American and, I feel that the people of India should love their skin color for what it is. Why are you trying so hard to be white when Whites are trying to look like us.
they are not trying to be white its a culture thing that people have been battling for centries people who worked in the sun were dark and people who had higher powers in society were light its status thing and most hindus should know everytime u read prayer about goddess it started with comparing there complection to color of jasmine flower
Why dose the complexion of this flower mean so much to the people of India? Do you think the occupation of the British had nothing to do with many Hindus trying to bleach themselves today? There are a lot of factors that feed into why many Indians are the way they are today. It is the same for all people who have been once dominated by European power.
She walked her dark skin off rotflmao these commercials make me effing sick. So you have woman and men in india with fair heads and dark bodies bwahahahahahaha!
I don't get why some people want to be lighter and others want to be fairer. I'm indian myself and I'm completely happy with my skin. And yes, it's very hypocritical of Unilever to be promoting different messages depending on what continent it is T_T
I don't know what these girls are thinking.. I was born with extremely light skin that burns easily (im a blonde) I would kill to have beautiful tanned skin like their's.
FYI, I'm half African and half Indian by way of Jamaica, W.I. so these television ads are somewhat offensive to me and shies me further away from my Indian roots. My reply was made in disgust with these ads which I feel is more harmful to a society that appears to hate the beautiful tones of their own natural born skin. So if my indifference offends your blind opinion of my disdain then I can completely forgive your ignorance about my comment.
hello? umm.. do they put that cream all over there body? its seems like the girl got more fair all around her body... u must have to use like 4 bottles of that to do ur whole body..
Why in the hell would you want to lighten your skin? That is so ignorant and stupid. Do all the Indian people think this way? I'm so glad I wasn't born in that country their society is so weak that it's embarrasingly sad. I feel great pitty for them :(

Yeh they usually do because when they show the 'after' results it's with better lighting, hair makeup, the works. It's pretty damn delusional

Why are you spamming with the same message? Light skin is beautiful. You probably go out and tan which burns the skin into a sickly brownish orange.
Bekll 4 years ago
why would you wanna darken your skin and be a carrot.
Geez, why do white ppl even care about this fairness thing in india. Its not your problem, you're not even indian, no one will listen to you :P
