  • S.B.O. Yelp contacted me1/2 hr after my first negative went live on the site.

"We'll fix your Negative, delete them, create positives & show currently filtered positives for $299 per mo. They offered an Ad of my own business on my page."

    Shocked w/ tears. Advised if I didn't pay Yelp will place competitors ads adjacent to my neg. reviews on my page. Today I have 6 total reviews, 3 filtered positives. I didn't PAY my page has my competitors promo ads. My opinion: Its Blackmail. = {

  • Jeremy Stoppelman is a little prick who's company will fall soon for not listening to people who run companies we asked yelp to remove bad reviews and they filter out the good reviews and refuse to delete the account

  • Thanks to the internet, I can remain anonymous. Because I just want to tell you guys that I used to work for a big review company. And if you want the negative reviews out of your review page, you can pay them, and they will "filter" them out. Almost no one will see them, as the Filter link is very small, at the bottom of the page, and requires users to enter a Captcha.

  • I just opened a small business and this is spot on! All of my reviews have been filtered. Luckily I don't have any bad reviews but thank god that I don't! All of my reviews, which all of them are positive, have been filtered out! What is the point of using them if they screw you like this. there is nothing you can do about this at all!

  • last comment: there should be a fucking review of YELP on yelp. lol. 2 stars for being kinda sorta useful but mostly a pain in the ass. plus a high percentage of people don't know what they're talking about and if you know restaurants you can kind of tell what you're getting into just through intuition and looking around anyway.

  • so basically every time yelp fucks them over that costs them ten to twenty bucks per person like me who also was considering possibly not going and never showed up, once or twice a week, week after week after week. sorry for the serial post.

  • p.s. i LOVE this restaurant, go there at least once or twice a week, but i almost never went bc of how yelp is filtering mostly five star reviews of their place about as frequently as i now go there! once or twice a week

  • cont: i wanted to see MY review so i went to the filtered ones. ALMOST EVERY SINGLE ONE WAS A 5 STAR REVIEW. *LITERALLY*. and these were the majority of this struggling business's reviews. yelp is doing them wrong, and doing me wrong in fact. i want my review to be seen. it means a lot to me.

  • yelp is a pain in the ass. there are certain restaurants that i LOVE and want to see thrive. i write these reviews that actually mean a lot to me from time to time only to see them get filtered. at this one where i've gotten to know the owner he said business cculd be better. they have 3 stars on yelp with a surprising amount of really nasty and some downright scary reviews ("i found a cockroach in my food!" etc). they have approximately 50 unfiltered reviews and approximately 50 unfiltered.

  • Exactly same story happened to me.

    I'm small restaurant owner.

After declined their paid advertising offer.

I got extreme nasty reviews by new yelp user day by day.

Shame on you. Yelp !! you should be Shut down.

  • I would like to join a class action law suit against Yelp.

Yelp has done the same thing to my business in Seattle.

I will file "Pro Se" (on my own) in Federal Court if I cannot find an attorney.

  • Yelp is shady, I know this company that has a lot of bad reviews, My review and others were deleted. The company probably paid yelp to delete those poor comments. lol

  • yelp should be shut down they don't let business update or change wrong information people post fake reviews and these morons are letting this happen, we should all get together and protest and get the owners personal info and post it all over the net

  • This is so true, Yelp did this to me, and I will also join the suit!!

  • YELP GO TO HELL!

  • BRING YELP DOWN!!!

  • Yelp filtered 75% of the 5-star reviews about Image Perfection, a small big-screen TV repair business in the SF Bay Area. As someone who helps the owner with the admin facets of the biz, I know the reviews were written by real customers - I spoke with them when they called about the problems their TV's were having. Yelp does an injustice to this and other small-business owners whose clientele have nothing but good things to say about them. It also does a disservice to those who read its reviews.

  • @jmacmedia oic, they do have the filtered reviews. :)

  • yelp needs to be taken down! All Yelp does is hurt small businesses

  • YELP HURTS SMALL BUSINESS AND FAMILIES! WE NEED TO TAKE A STAND!

  • YELP HURTS SMALL BUSINESS AND FAMILIES! WE NEED TO TAKE A STAND!

  • @Say10LuvsMe that is true. ppl need real critic reviews on restaurants.

  • I was wondering why my positive reviews were filtered.I didn't use profane language or said anything out of the ordinary. Now this makes sense.

  • All but three of the 30 reviews on my business were 5 stars. They called and offered their "advertising" program last year and I optimistically took it. I didnt see a change in business referrals from yelp so i cancelled a few months later (it was a very expensive service at almost $900 a month). Several days after I stopped paying for the service all of the positive reviews went into this "filtered" and the two negative reviews went to the front page. ONLY THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS REMAINED.

  • @farfanugenmaster

yes , same happened to me

check my company reviews - on yelp ( the filltered ones ) polski remodeling

  • YELP IS A HORRIBLE SITE AND I HAVE PERSONALLY EXPERIENCED HOW THEY DOWNGRADE THE SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS THAT DONT ADVERTISE WITH THEM AND PROMOTE THOSE THAT DO!

DOWN WITH YELP! SOMEONE SHOULD HACK, SUE, OR RETIRE THIS DISGUSTING COMPANY AND BRING THEM TO JUSTICE!

    F@#! YELP!

  • Yelp deleted a couple of my reviews. Companies pay Yelp to remove unfavorable reviews. Now, they try to work around it, and hide those reviews, saying they are "filtered"

  • Yelp! for the most part is scrupulous and honest review site. And this journalist who is doing the interviewing is more partisan than a Rupert Murdoch FOX network hack! His questions are extremely biased and loaded against Yelp! Just because a business is a small business does not necessarily mean they are legitimate and trustworthy. Yelp filters out honest reviews from clearly biased and inaccurate ones. Most of those businesses who are suing Yelp are most certainly dishonest businesses.

  • @RJGula Thats funny considering 90% of the people who write reviews have no clue how the business. A lot of the reviews are just written with one sentence and pure shit.

  • Respond to this video...

  • What has happened to this lawsuit? I joined it, but never heard another word from anyone at the law firm despite countless emails and phone calls.

  • Fuck Yelp, I only use it to find restaurants near me. The reviews are stupid and idiotic. I don't get how you would review a restaurant very bad just because the ethnicity of the employees aren't the same as the restaurant's. (For example, giving a japanese restaurant a bad review because it had too many different cultural races working and not japanese. WTF?)

  • Whats up with yelp s filter? It only posts 4/5 stars. doesnt it make the asumption that all business s are great? There are some that are not 4-5 stars. So the assumption is that all reviews on yelp are high stars and all businesses are great

  • where do I sign up to join the class action

this shit is happening to me

  • u cant censor people so stop trying to

  • I tried to write reviews on Yelp and my reviews were taken down a week after writing them. I contacted Yelp 3x's and they never got back to me so fuck them...I don't go on Yelp or do anything on Yelp anymore. They're fake and pointless and should be shut down.

  • So thats how super crappy restaurants manage to get an average 4.5 stars.

  • @IronJawJim allot of the places on yelp are crap that is right.

  • @Say10LuvsMe As opposed to spending your time writing YouTube comments? :P

  • Fantastic that evil unscrupulous Yelp is finally being called up to account for its dastardly deeds that harm small business and are just a platform for Yelp to use haters to victimize people. I would never believe anything written on Yelp after my experience in which some hater who was not even a customer posted complete lies on Yelp. Then when my real customers posted favorable reviews all the good comments were taken down by Yelp and the false review was left up. Do not trust Yelp.

  • NOpe!

  • NO!

  • NO!

  • Although reviews can provide a consumer service, if you look at the "automated" review filters for a business, you can see that this process is not automated. I have contacted Yelp about this (as a consumer and reviewer, not a business owner) and received no response.

  • here's the thing with yelp. yelp removes ANY review if the reviewer doesn't consistently review on yelp, post their real first name and last initial, post a real picture of themselves, and is not connected to the business in some way. i don't work for yelp but i have posted nearly 800 reviews and i've never had a review taken down and trust me when i say this...i give a TON of bad reviews (approx. 500 3-star and below). so i don't buy this extortion crap.

  • Well damn, my cousin sure does know how to make a case.

  • Great upload, AttackOfTheShow. Thank you for sharing this important, whistleblowing video. I bookmarked it to my favorites. Thanks again.

  • Bernie Madoff taught the founders of Yelp how to succeed (just joking...a little). For Yelp its the perfect crime they never see the people they do wrong. Kind of like using a gun to hurt someone versus that of using a knife. A knife is much more personal whereas a drive-by cap is impersonal. The bloodsuckers at Yelp thrive largely on civil crimes because that type of crime won't cause physical harm. The major suckers are the ones who spend time writing reviews performing free labor for Yelp.

  • Yelp needs to be brought down by a darn good hacktivist. Just like the good hacktivists who reportedly brought down Wikileaks in the beginning of the Wikileak affair. And just like the bad hacktivists who brought down PayPal, Visa and Mastercard. (Not that I'm fond of those three...just sayin'.) People what I'm talking about is a good, old fashioned denial of service attack or a zombie attack. Are you listening Mr. or Ms. Hacktivist?

  • @LifeOnTheFly I agree yelp I donot like at all people tend to think there funny.

  • But not being satisfied with something shouldn't make you want to write a short story about how bad everything about that place is.

    Just my opinion

  • Quick question for Yelpers? What kind of person goes to a website to BASH small local owned businesses? I am a small business owner and I have a very good rating on Yelp but I read some other reviews and am beside myself how some people will go eat at a small sandwich shop and not be satisfied with a meal and just crucify them online. You are aware that this is how people support a family, how they pay there bills? What do you get out of it? I read one guys reviews and he bashed all local

  • @turkeys666

Where were you born? You weren't born on earth, that's for sure.

  • @turkeys666

"You are aware that this is how people support a family, how they pay there bills? What do you get out of it (by writing bad reviews) ???"

It's ridiculous for the consumer to automatically apply unconditional love 2 each & every small business just because that business is a small business. Or because it's a mom and pop operation. Thats dumb. You talk like youve never heard of a snake oil salesman and/or a snake oil saleswoman!! You talk like a snake oils sales person yourself.

  • You are missing the point. Yelp removes good reviews so a small business appears to be bad when it is not. Their review filter creates an unfair and unbalanced picture of the business.

  • @BelleRocheJewelry Yelp is crap and soon will be shut down

  • @turkeys666 maybe u serve crap quality food or ur places is dirty or u have bad customer service or all of the above.

  • This is more proof that although review site at first might seem like the oracle to the internet, always take what you read with a pinch of salt! I feel sorry for those who have been manipulated by a company which essentially specialises in extortion.

The UK needs to have the ability to form class action lawsuits and right now there is not enough pressure on government to get anything done about it. Read about one company (@goalgroupltd on twitter) and they would love it!!!

  • YELP IS MAFIA, THEY PUT NEGATIVE REVIEWS WHEN YOU DONT SIGN UP WITH THEM

  • Wow. I love Yelp! I really believed all of their spin about "the local reviews site" yada yada. I should have known something was rotten in Denmark when I saw that the site began in San Francisco, which has the highest population density of douchebag motherfuckers in the world...

  • More businesses should sue the hell of these "mafia" type activities.

  • Yelp's a fraudulent activities are pretty well-known by now, but did you know, Google does the same thing with it's reviews? I'm not a business owner, just a consumer frustrated lies of businesses.

Google Employee Brianna explains how a business can "simply choose 'Flag as inappropriate' ". Go to bit.ly - slash - 9qLnqj (YT filters URLs).

  • Yelp removed all my good reviews after I declined to purchase their advertising plan.

  • @djsal510 totally agree with you. They did the same thing to me.

  • Yelp has become poop!

  • Yelp's darkside

  • don't you think it's rather funny how YELP DOESN'T HAVE ANY COMMENTS ON THEIR CHANNEL? BUT THEY CLAIM TO BE OBJECTIVE AND ALLOW PEOPLE TO POST THEIR HONEST OPINIONS AND REVIEWS ON BUSINESSES?

    YELP YOU SUCK

everyone i want you all to know that yelp doesn't post positive reviews if they want a business to go away. we tested this. a person went on slandering the heck out of a business and we posted a positive review for it - only was up a week and yelp deleted it! it's there only when logging in

  • Yelp sucks. Try owning a bussiness and have some one write a review about that is not true. Sheepeople believe all kinds of untruths. Jeff Guitar Nelson New Orleans Google me Yelp

  • That lawyer is gross.

  • I just stumbled onto this very thing today. I have used yelp for a few years, and my 3 star review was moved by itself onto a separate page that I can only find in my profile account. Meanwhile, if you google the store, you will find yelp reviews that are pretty much 5 star. I spend hours writing yelp reviews, being honest and fair. No more free labor! I was scammed. Shame on the store for also playing along, and not reporting it. Just like the Intel-Dell-HP antitrust lawsuit that AMD won.

  • Has this not been thrown out yet?

  • Yelp sounds like they're playing the ratcatcher's scam: seed a home with rats, then come back and sell traps to the panicked homeowners.

  • This crap has been going on forever. People are so naive. Even before the internet when all we had were magazines.

  • This should be very true that Yelp is exploiting this. I work at a small business and the same thing happened to the owner of the business. There is few things we can do about it, unless we make the "payment." It is extremely unethical.

  • ok... real simple... if it's false info, remove it. if it's true, make your fuckin business better!

  • the thing is they say they can't remove it. So it stays while the good information disappear. It's all about their business reputation which can cost them sales and loss of the compagny's value.

  • WhoTF is yelp?

  • the hell is yelp?

  • @SqueeG19 WOW, do you live in a cave or in some farm lands? how do you even have access to the Internet?

  • I don't even know what Yelp is and I'm on the computer like... 1hr+ a day. (Don't judge me.)

  • @00iCrazy00 its all good man im on like 5 hours a day and i dont know.

  • @Iildimsum7 ive never heard of yelp. its a legit question. where do you get off flaming some one for a legit question?

  • yelp is a popular site, especially in popular cities! have you at least seen one of those iphone commercials? if you don't know what yelp is then you should get out of that cave you're in

  • @Iildimsum7 what state do you live in? i live in oklahoma we have nothing here.

  • oh, that's understandable then. im currently in the SF Bay Area

  • Lildisum, why are you thumbs downing people who don't know what Yelp is? If it's not you then someone is an asshole around here

  • @Iildimsum7 yeahhhhhh. oklahoma is pretty uneventful lol

  • don't get it

  • Very interesting =)
