  • Cannabis Prohibition managed to learn from the mistakes of Alcohol Prohibition; they used the racism inherent in the country, as best demonstrated by Harry Anslinger testified "There are 100,000 total marijuana smokers in the US, and most are Negroes, Hispanics, Filipinos and entertainers. Their Satanic music, jazz and swing, result from marijuana usage. This marijuana causes white women to seek sexual relations with Negroes, entertainers and any others."

  • 1:50 "pot is a huge cash crop, it's a massive economic boon to the world"

    Broken windows fallacy.

  • Milk: legalize it!

  • Jeff is so freaking suave and awesome

  • A baptist and a bootlegger voted this video down.

  • I think that proposition 19 succeeded but government and big enterprises didn’t allowed, they fear that people realize that freedom works better than government intervention and pseudo-religious fanatics.

  • Why isn't the mises institute doing more to promote it?

  • i cant believe that it didn't pass...

  • @profwito Just because you have to put up with it doesn't mean you have to like it.

  • Great discussion. Personally I enjoyed they library setting. It made for a more comforting setting, and lent a certain academic credence to the conversations.

  • Maybe all the pot smokers just forgot to vote.

  • I grew up adjacent to an affluent area, & went to the high school on the wealthy side. Tons of my friend's parents who were professionals; professors, lawyers, business owners, were all pot smokers. It's so much more of a common, normal thing than most people who are against drug use even realize.

  • I like what Dr T said: "The fact that the people would overturn a federal law...and a United Nations treaty that maintains the drug war - that's a big piece of legislation."

  • Crime pays.

  • How about offering people carrots and when they try to collect the bennifits you beat them with a stick.

You can't drink and drive, or take some medication and drive... why could you smoke pot and drive? If you were seen weeving in and out of traffic. Sober or intoxicated in some way you get a ticket.

Same with cell phones. Some people can drive and talk on the phone. Others can't. If you are driving stupid or get in an accident then you get punished.

    Punish people not the population.

Mr. Tucker is clearly partial to Cheech and Chong movies :) :)

  • Mr. Tucker, your voice is fine. Nice format and excellent interview!

  • Jeffery Tucker's voice is too high compared to Mark Thornton

  • @AdurianJ I think the room is to live. You can hear echoes from the walls. Other than that great sound.

  • I rather liked the library books.

  • thank you mises

  • @shadowgeyser I admit that I tried it just because it was illegal. Not my cup of tea.

  • Cannabis should remain classified as an Herb not a drug. The idea of liberty in that I cannot harm you steers most people. this does not stop pilots or Doctors from showing up for work intoxicated, but take away the ability to hide behind some insurance and see how personal responsibility catapults to the top of the preferred risk management approach of most employees wanting cash flows

  • better percentages than most "Significant" results for most pharmaceuticals research.

  • I don't know if I agree or not... I am pro-legalization, but also against subsidies. My state had a ballot measure to loosen the restrictions on marijuana, but I couldn't support it because it would have come with a giant bureaucracy and subsidies. Uggghhhh :-/

  • Is Jeffrey high?

  • @AndyMH182

Jeffrey is always like sunshine. That doesn't exclude him being high, of course - but I doubt it.

It is a pleasure to hear some reasonable voices talking about this issue. All the politicians and opposers to hemp are delusional thinking there could be a world without drugs (and I don't think they want it, unless they want to go out of business) - there was and will be a certain percentage of people who want and will use "drugs"

  • This is the only guy I've ever seen wear a bowtie and not loo like he has OCD>

  • Really enjoyed this. Keep up the good work and keep these coming!

  • Excellent, can't wait for the next one. Studio could use a mini bar, something in the background.

  • @shadowgeyser Streisand effect

  • I like the new studio.

  • Check this out: A scientific assessment of the harmfulness of the 16 most commonly used drugs

    gizmagDOTcom/the-most-harmful-drugs-in-common-usage/

  • Legalizing MJ alone would: Cut costs, increase revenues, weaken gangs and drug lords, decrease drug crime and violent crime, increase personal liberty and allow hemp to be used. What people seem to be afraid of is that more people will start smoking weed. EVERYONE has smoked weed or had the option.

  • Bruce Willis should play Jeffrey Tucker in the Mises Institute biopic.

  • @austrianrationalist Exactly, the similarity struck me the first time I saw Jeff.

  • @austrianrationalist

    Dude, I know!

    'This summer, liberty Dies Hard.'

  • Cities and States can "condone" the taxing of the sin of gambling

    but NOT of thinking laterally....

  • lol I love Jeffrey.............

  • obviously there are too many ppl in pwr making money off keeping it illegal. They will be gone someday.

  • Great stuff. Wonder if the pharmaceutical industry had said whether they were against this thing. They'd stand to lose a bit of money.

  • Good interview guys ;D

  • Ah Mises.... I do love this channel

  • Mark Thornton smokes i bet. he has that voice ya know.

  • good interview, but i do miss the books.

  • I'd much rather have a stoned doctor operating on me than a hungover one!

  • @arcanekrusader - Wow you're an idiot! You're so beyond stupid it's pathetic. In you indoctrination it never occurred to you that NEITHER of those should be preferred. What a fucking moron!

  • @thomaserossi Calm down.

  • @gwydion75 - Thanks DOOOOD! Yeah, maaaaan... I'll just caaaaalmm doooown broseph.

That's it? That's all you have? You're EXACTLY the reason why I voted AGAINST Prop 19. End the Welfare State and I'll vote for it. But so long as we have hippy-dippy dumbfucks like you sponging off the people I'll always vote against it.

  • @thomaserossi You find liberty to be subjective. How sad. I'm in the top 20% paying for the welfare state "broseph", and I've never touched the stuff. Are my habits or preferences relevent to others individual freedom? No. You're a rather aggitated busy-body, trying to legally control other peoples actions using shallow and generalized judgements without due process. I'm also not a fan of the welfare state but hardly think pot's contribution to the problem will change much if it were legal.

  • @thomaserossi I forgot the only people on welfare are hippies. I also forgot that marijuana is the only reason why said hippies are on welfare. You're a moron. Instead of spending money on welfare, you want to spend money having people killed in Mexico. Good job, sir!

  • @thomaserossi If you legalize cannabis the revenues from new businesses will pay far more for any government expenditures then the legalization costs, your argument is poorly thought out. Also trying to connect two things as disparate as Cannabis and welfare is a pretty big leap.

Lastly if you want to wait for welfare to go away before you help us increase liberty in other ways, then you are going to be waiting a long time, and you are extremely selfish.

  • @thomaserossi I'd much rather be arguing with a stoned YouTuber than a hungover one.

  • @SomethingSea1 so...like,,,,there is a whole UNIVERSE right on the top of my fingernail....whoooaaaa....

  • @thomaserossi Did I say that I would prefer either of the above to a sober doctor? Who is the moron who can't understand english?

  • @flynn2008

    Just a vibe?

  • @flynn2008 yeah that's what I thought but he's got a wife and kids.

  • @flynn2008 Jeff is married and has a couple kids, just fyi.
