People can be found singing in NY subways, the London Underground, LA, DC, literally anywhere if there's masses of people, b/c they want a reaction. The reason most people don't respond is because they're in the middle of doing their stuff. If they wanted to hear someone sing, they'd go to a concert and expect singing. Sometimes they don't expect a spontaneous show underground by some random person they don't know when they board a train.
