Terrific video! I have have one problem with my file, perhaps it's nothing big. But when I put my file into the temporary selected folder it just shows the song title (ie (03 Awaken) and it doesn't show any m4a. What please would I do about that?
@phsycopath123 you have to change your extension file you need to go to Control Panel and go into Folder Options (in Classic View) and under the 'View' tab uncheck hide extensions =) and then you can adjust to the .m4r extension.
Hey SaticICE .. I did everything correctly but when after I synced the Iphone and went to ringtones to see if the song got into that place .. I couldn;t find it .. there were only the standard ones.. what should I do ?
Window users..to be able to change your extension file you need to go to Control Panel and go into Folder Options (in Classic View) and under the 'View' tab uncheck hide extensions =) and then you can adjust to the .m4r extension. Good luck
@SaticICE Haha no worries. You should just do a quick note in your description about the extension for now then :) but your video was still very helpful.
@AngelOfStarryNights If your a Window user..to be able to change your extension file you need to go to Control Panel and go into Folder Options (in Classic View) and under the 'View' tab uncheck hide extensions =) and then you can adjust to the .m4r extension =D
I cant change the name of the file to an m4r.. When i go to rename. All it does is still show its a MPEG mp4 file. i can just add a name not change the file type. any ideas?
This will show you the extension which you will then change from m4a to m4r and a box should pop up. The problem I'm having though is that I can see the file in my iTunes under Ringtones in the library and in the ringtones file on the iPhone when viewing it from iTunes, but i cant find it on my phone anywhere to select it as my ringtone. All my file names and types are right, just cant find it on my phone.
@wolfmanak907 I had a problem with the Black Keys songs working. They just would not synch over. The Freecorder solved it. Your ringtones will show under settings/sounds. It creates a folder above the factory ones called Custom.
For those of you doing this on windows,if you dont have a Ringtones file in your library you have to go up to to Edit in iTunes,go to Preferences and under General check the box that says Ringtones and it will appear. For those of you who cant swap your files from .m4a to .m4r because you cant see the file extension after the name, you need to go to your windows Control Panel, go to Appearances and Themes,go to Folder Options and uncheck the box that says Hide Extensions for Known File Types
Zipei..yes I did. I used a free program called Freecorder which loads into your toolbox. It records the song and then you change that file into your AAC version and carry on as before. It works. There is also a free program called iringer.net that can also be used. It did not download properly for me and I ended up not needing it once I used the freecorder first. Good luck!
Got it. Certain musicians don't allow their songs to be made into ring tones. There is software that you can download that records the song from your computer, breaking their code, which then allows the song to be made into the Harrington successfully. Thanks for the video. I now have 11 ring tones on my iphone4!
I tried this. My PC runs on vista. When I right click the name after converting it, it does not show the .mra. When I change it to .m4r, when I look at it in properties, under details, I see the name.m4a.m4r. How do I fix this so there's only one extension? Thanks for the video!!
@LilGiiNzZ Ringtones menu will only show up when you have ringtones. Follow the steps in the video to create a ringtone or buy some from apple iTune store then the Ringtone folder will show up :-)
Help me

hi when i right click on the song it dont come up creat aac file any help?
rohmeo123 1 year ago
@rohmeo123 The song could be a protected AAC or MP4 (If the extension is M4P then it wont work).
This can only be done with un-encrypted filed.
I have not tried it with WMA (windows media audio) files but I would assume it would work as apple tries to get you to convert then on import anyway.
